More Super Megaforce Casting News – David Yost, Sally Martin, More

Posted on May 11, 2013 at 12:29 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Over the course of the last 8 hours there have been more cast updates about the upcoming anniversary season of Power Rangers Super Megaforce. For starters, we’ll continue with the most famous of the franchise, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

David Yost, who played Billy the Blue Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has tweeted that he chose not to go back to Power Rangers.

Megaforce=No 4 me. They lost me when the offer started “Dear Power Ranger” & had several grammatical errors. #donewithabusiverelationships

Through our good friend Fury Diamond of RangerCrew.com, we’ve also learned that Sally Martin, who played Tori the Blue Wind Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Storm, as well as Melanie Vellajo, who played Madison the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers Mystic Force, did not receive invites to appear as a cameo. Fury Diamond confirms it in this tweet here.

And finally, Dan Ewing, Dillon the Black Ranger from Power Rangers RPM, let his fans know that he did not receive an invite either.

UPDATE: Not that this comes as any surprise, but Mr. Yellow was able to discover that none of the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers were invited to attend. Check out the info by clicking here.

UPDATE #2: Caitlin Murphy, who played Ronny the Yellow Ranger in Power Rangers Operation Ovedrive, received an invite BEFORE the “mass E-mail” sent out by Saban Brands, but has never heard back from production.

We’ve updated our comprehensive list of actors returning and not returning for Super Megaforce. What are your thoughts on the latest developments for casting?

Confirmed – Power Rangers S.P.D. Cast Not Invited for Super Megaforce Cameos

Posted on May 10, 2013 at 4:01 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Now we’re not 100% certain on this one, but we’re calling it close enough to call. Today Brand Jay McLaren who played Jack the Red Ranger on Power Rangers S.P.D. responded to Fury Diamond stating that he was not invited for Super Megaforce.

In the tweets that followed, Chris Violette who played Sky Tate the Blue Ranger on Power Rangers S.P.D. joked about how Saban Brands had “dropped them like they’re hot”, and joked with other S.P.D. cast members about flying in to New Zealand anyways and just filming their own reunion.

We also know that Matt Austin who played Bridge the Green S.P.D. Power Ranger was not invited either. While the girls have yet to pipe in regarding their status, seeing as neither live in New Zealand, we just don’t think Saban Brands will have invited any of them to attend.

As for John Tui, (Doggie Kruger, the Shadow Ranger on Power Rangers S.P.D. and Daggeron the Solaris Knight on Power Rangers Mystic Force), we have yet to hear confirmation from him either way but will follow up when we do.

Power Rangers S.P.D. is a beloved season by many fans. What are your thoughts on Saban Brands choosing not to honor their season, or the fans of that season, in the 20th Anniversary “celebration” of Power Rangers Super Megaforce? DISCUSS!

Confirmed – Shane and Cam of Ninja Storm Not Invited for Super Megaforce

Posted on May 10, 2013 at 3:48 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Even though the source material for the upcoming Power Rangers Super Megaforce showcased what would be the Power Rangers Ninja Storm fighting against, and then alongside the Power Rangers Super Megaforce, it seems that Jonathan Tzachor and the production crew of Power Rangers Super Megaforce are going to go a different route, as it was discovered today that neither Pua Magasiva (Shane the Red Wind Power Ranger of Power Rangers Ninja Storm) or Jason Chan (Cam the Green Samurai Power Ranger of Power Rangers Ninja Storm) were offered invitations to return for Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

Pua Magasiva tweeted his lack of an invitation today, while our friend Fury Diamond of RangerCrew.com was kind enough to let us know that Jason Chan was also not invited.

The most curious part about this revelation is just exactly how Super Megaforce will introduce one of the latter Megazords, as the source footage involved the three Wind Power Rangers of Power Rangers Ninja Storm with the Power Rangers Super Megaforce (Gokaigers, technically).

What are your thoughts and feelings regarding the lack of these two great Power Rangers? How is Jonathan Tzachor planning to utilize the footage? Or does this mean we won’t even get the Megazord in question that won’t be named for those not wishing to be spoiled entirely?

Discuss!

Confirmed – R.J. of Jungle Fury Not Invited for Super Megaforce

Posted on May 10, 2013 at 3:32 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

This is a day of heart-breaks for many Power Rangers fans as the bad news just continues and continues.

David de Lautour, who played R.J. the Purple Wolf Ranger in Power Rangers Jungle Fury was not invited for a role in Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

One of his counter-parts however, Jason Smith (who played Casey the Red Jungle Fury Ranger), has been spotted on-set and in many Instagram photos with Ciara Hannah, the Yellow Megaforce Ranger.

R.J. was one of the more popular Power Rangers from the Disney era, and especially on Power Rangers Jungle Fury. What are your thoughts about him being left out? Discuss!

Confirmed – DiFilippo Triplets Not Invited for Super Megaforce

Posted on May 10, 2013 at 3:24 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

For fans of Power Rangers Zeo, it was interesting to see that the mysterious Gold Ranger was an alien being that split in to three separate entities. The actors behind it are actually identical triplets – Tim, Ted, and Tommy DiFilippo. They played the physical body of Trey of Triforia while Brad Hawkins (VR Troopers) played the voice.

Our good friend Fury Diamond at RangerCrew.com let everyone know that the DiFilippo triplets did NOT receive an invitation from Saban Brands to return for Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

Considering Rhett Fisher, the Titanium Ranger from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, had his invite rescinded, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that these three were not coming, but it is a little shocking that they didn’t even receive an invitation. They have had a renewed popularity after their appearance at last year’s Power Morphicon.

Confirmed – Erin Cahill Turns Down Super Megaforce Cameo Offer

Posted on May 10, 2013 at 3:15 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Sad news for those hoping that Jen, the Pink Ranger from Power Rangers Time Force, would be returning for a cameo in the upcoming Power Rangers Super Megaforce season.

Close friend of Erin Cahill, kalenabear posted the following message at our friends at RangerBoard:

Hung out with Erin (Jen, PRTF) last night and she confirmed that she’ll be out of the country in the last two weeks of May (not in NZ), which is when Super Megaforce would be filming the cameos, per Fury’s message. Then Erin sent me this today, referring to Tokunation’s article,
http://www.tokunation.com/showthread.php?t=43499:

“So, a friend just sent me the article below.
Oh no! I don’t want fans to be upset with me!
I TRULY want to do it, but the show is not Union anymore. The bottom line is I can’t risk union status to do it. :-(. I have been so sad over not being able to. How can I reach out to my fans and let them know?
Xoxo
~E~”

We are saddened to know that one of our favorite Pink Rangers will not be returning for Power Rangers Super Megaforce, but we wish Erin Cahill all the best in her continued and storied career!

What are your thoughts on Erin Cahill‘s decision not to return for Power Rangers Super Megaforce?

Confirmed – Jason David Frank to Appear in Super Megaforce

Posted on May 10, 2013 at 3:10 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Without actually coming out and saying it, Jason David Frank posted a picture on his Instagram of the Power Rangers Megaforce logo. As you may remember from an earlier story, Jason David Frank cancelled his upcoming appearance at Puerto Rico Comic Con 2013, citing an important project out of the country that he couldn’t miss. The dates for Puerto Rico Comic Con 2013 are the same for the Super Megaforce cameo filming dates.

So we’re going to go ahead and call this CONFIRMED – Jason David Frank to Appear in Super Megaforce!

Saban Brands Generic E-mail to Power Rangers Alumni

Posted on May 9, 2013 at 11:39 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

For those following the developments of returning cast of previous years for Power Rangers Super Megaforce, you may remember Karan Ashley stating that all previous actors and actresses had received a generic E-mail invitation, nothing personalized, about returning to the show for the 20th Anniversary.

Thanks to Fury Diamond, a copy of said E-mail is now available for all of us to read. What’s enlightening about the E-mail is that Saban Brands states that there was no intention in pre-production to include any veteran Rangers for Super Megaforce. The E-mail continues to try to influence the past actors to return “for your fans”, and states that compensation would be very little in an individual basis.

We are complying to the request of Fury Diamond not to re-post the E-mail here, and are instead giving you a direct link to said E-mail.

Click here to read a copy of the generic E-mail sent out inviting past Power Rangers to return

What do you guys think? Given the recent backlash aimed at Saban Brands and Jonathan Tzachor by fans for what they feel is them being cheated by what Saban Brands stated would be the “most expensive” season ever at the last Power Morphicon, do you side with the actors refusing to show up because of the lack of compensation? Do you think production is being too cheap? Or do you think some of the actors could spare a four day expenditure to New Zealand for the sake of the fans?

A lot to discuss, so let’s get to it!
