“AMAZON!”
Do you believe in Amazon yet? Well if not then it’s time to change your opinion! The fantastic Amazon Japan series Kamen Rider Amazons has been a runaway success since it’s first season premiered last year. With the 2nd season having just begun this week, we thought it was finally time to take a look at the first figure release from season 1 with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Amazon Omega (Amazon JP Edition)!
Haruka Mizusawa had the roles of Kamen Rider and Amazon thrust upon him, changing the very core of his being. And while we can’t answer for you what it means to be human or Amazon in this review, we can definitely tell you whether or not you need this figure. Minor qualms aside, Amazon Omega is a more than serviceable release that comes with way more accessories than your average retail figuart. Particularly with this Amazon JP Edition of the figure which includes green flame effects. But honestly it’s just a great looking figuart, and if you’re a fan of the series then you need to own him.

"AMAZON!"
Do you believe in Amazon yet? Well if not then it's time to change your opinion! The fantastic Amazon Japan series Kamen Rider Amazons has been a runaway success since it's first season premiered last year. With the 2nd season having just begun this week, we thought it was finally time to take a look at the first figure release from season 1 with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Amazon Omega (Amazon JP Edition)!
Packaging
This version of Amazon Omega comes in a special corrugated brown box. Just like the Amazon JP exclusive release of Showa Amazon. Amazon Alpha also had this type of exclusive treatment. We'll look at him eventually so for now let's talk about Omega. Omega comes in this type of box, which is also wider than the normal release because of some additional flame effects, but ultimately it's pretty plain looking compared to the standard retail version.
Main Figure
I'm so happy to finally have the time to look at the first release from this series. As the inaugural Amazons release Kamen Rider Amazon Omega had to set the bar high, and for the most part I feel it succeeds.
Amazon Omega at first appeared to share some superficial design elements with the Kamen Rider Ghost lineup of figuarts. But in hand I certainly don't see that. For starters Omega has some really excellently designed legs. His ankles have a full range to them, not impacted at all by the shin cuffs like you might expect. The knees hit about a 90 degree angle which while fine does keep him from getting in more exotic poses. But despite some pretty thick hips Omega makes full use of them as well. He does have a tiny bit of the diaper look going on, but it's a very functional design overall.
The torso is probably my favorite part of the figure weirdly enough. The Amazons Driver itself is incredibly faithful, but sits pretty loose around the waist. This can be both good and bad based on your point of view. I like a little looseness in any rider belt, just so I can be sure there's room for the figure to move. The right handle of the driver, the Battler Grip, is removable to recreate Omega's weapon abilities. It's a snug fit to get it back in there though so be careful not to break it. The actual torso looks great as well, the way the upper half rotates around the lower section gives it some decent posability that you don't quite expect out of such a beefy sculpt. Mine had a nasty little defect on the edge of yellow pectoral plates where the paint was cracked but when you aren't looking for it it's hard to notice. Again, for some reason I love his chest, it just pops and I really like the sculpt. I know, I'm weird. At least his pecs aren't articulated like Showa Amazon was, now that was weird.
Omega's arms are pretty standard stuff as well. The wrists are pretty free to move as are the elbows, uninhibited by any of the design elements. My only real gripe with the arms is the way the shoulder pads are hinged, they can only really slide up and down a little. So if you're trying to straighten the arms out fully you won't have much luck, at least not before popping the pad off, sending it flying across the room. I also want to take a sec to mention the gorgeous sculpt of the Amazons Register on the left arm. It's just spot on.
The head is where I have my primary issue with this mold. It's a dead on sculpt, from the side it can look a little narrow, but it's very true to life. However the collar around the neck really gets in the way of it being able to do much. Side to side motion works, some up and down as well. But if you want to crane his neck out and back much at all for any weird poses, the collar is going to keep that fro happening.
Minor qualms aside, hot damn Omega is a great looking figuart. I loved the show itself so I'm very, very, biased towards these designs. They aren't for everyone and I can understand that. But this is a really well executed figure. And as you'll see below, Amazon Omega comes with a ton of great accessories as well!
Accessories
Even as a retail release Amazon Omega included a ton of stuff, but this edition also includes some bonus effects!
4 - sets of hands. That's 2 types of open hands, one set of "holding things" hands for use with the simultaneously release Jungraider bike, and for holding the Battler Grip Knife. The other holding hands are specifically intended for the Battle Grip Spear.
2 - Violent Punish blades. These replace the normal gauntlets on Omega's forearms and can connect to the included effect part. They're a bit longer and I generally prefer to just display Omega with them on rather than the normal ones.
1 - Violent Punish effect part. It clips right on over the new forearm blades and can be a little snug. When you try to take it off it generally takes the whole forearm piece with it.
1 - Battler Grip (knife). This shortened version of the handle to the Amazon Driver works like a small knife. It's a bit bigger than the part on the driver itself but that's typical given the "magic" often used on screen when these types of devices transform. Oddly this version of the grip is exclusive only to the Figuart, it was never actually shown to be used in this fashion in the show itself.
1 - Battler Grip (spear). Identical to the knife, just obviously much longer. Replicates Omega's Violent Break finisher.
1 - Set of Green Flame Effects. This set is a recolor of the popular Tamashii Flame Effects tailor made for Amazon Omega. Amazon Alpha also includes a set of them in red to match his armor.
All in all that's a damn fine breakdown of accessories. Haruka includes literally anything he could need, the only omission that I see most people complain about are that Battler Grip Sickle & Whip which are both actually included with the Jungraider.
Final Thoughts
S.H. Figuarts Kamen Amazon Omega is a really great figure. It may have some faults in it's design that can limit some aspects of it's posability, but it's still a great release. It's a really stylistic update to a classic design and has plenty of personality. I really can't wait to see Bandai remold this figure as New Omega from Amazons Season 2. It was sexy before, but it'll be even sexier with those extra robotic bits!

Nice gallery of Omega the photos made him stand out just like in the show. This figuart had a lot of weapons that he came with. I wish Alpha had a weapon or two from the show a bit let down that he had none. I like how you did photos of Omega attacking an Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Sentai villain really cool shots there.

Great gallery. I'm glad this turned out to be a great figure, the designs look great even though I haven't seen the show. Also the fact that you can get everything you need for it in 2 releases is kinda cool.

I skipped the figure since the design never really worked for me (I keep seeing Bass from Mega Man in this) but it is really great looking.
I'm also glad that this is the type of exclusive that is cool to have but doesn't include must-have accessories, I hope they keep doing them like that.
Thanks for the great pictures as always, my favorites are the ones with the classic Amazon. I kinda hope that encounter happens at some point in the future. I mean, the Amazons guys do pop up in this year’s Chou Super Hero Taisen so anything’s possible.
