Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 11 Poll and Discussion

Posted on December 24, 2013 at 2:11 am by Chris under Kamen Rider

The final episode of Kamen Rider Gaim for the year 2013 has aired and the subtitles are now available (click here to check out Aesir’s subtitles). The episode “The Truth Behind the Christmas Game” is now available to watch subtitled. With that, it’s time to invite you to our episode poll and discussion thread!

Click here to vote on the episode and to discuss it!

All the Armored Riders have gathered in Helheim Forest for the Christmas Battle – whomever leaves the forest with the most Lock Seeds wins the game! But when you’re an Armored Rider your priority isn’t to collect Lock Seeds – it’s to fight! And in this episode, we get plenty of fighting!

Kamen Rider Gridon vs. Kamen Rider Zangetsu! Kamen Rider Baron vs. Kamen Rider Kurokage! Kamen Rider Baron vs. Kamen Rider Bravo complete with the rematch everyone has been waiting for – Mango Arms against Kamen Rider Bravo! And that’s all in the first 10 minutes of this episode! All that, more fights between other characters, and Kamen Rider Gaim finally gets some answers on where the Sengoku Drivers came from and an idea of what their purpose serves.

This episode stands as a turning point for the series – Kamen Rider Gaim narrates the end of the episode giving you the feeling that nothing will ever be the same going forward. If you could break a series in to seasons, this would be considered a season finale. What are you waiting for? Click here and join what is sure to be a highly discussed episode! Don’t forget to vote!

Kamen Rider Gaim returns January 5th, 2014 with what already feels like a “season premiere”. What did you think of the episode? Give it a rating. Join the discussion.

TokuNation Users Vote Christopher Khayman Lee (In Space Red Ranger) 8th Best Power Ranger

Posted on December 23, 2013 at 11:08 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers we asked our users earlier this year to rank their Top 10 Power Rangers. We compiled the results in to a Top 20, and throughout the year we’ve been sharing the results! Today we’re ready to announce that the TokuNation users have voted Christopher Khayman Lee, who played Andros the Red Ranger from Power Rangers In Space, as the 8th Best Power Ranger of All Time!

When the evil space pirate Divatox destroyed the Power Rangers Turbo command center, zords, and powers, they decided to go off in to space and try to find, and save, the original mentor to the Power Rangers – Zordon – who had been taken captive by a being called Dark Specter on a distant planet. But before TJ, Carlos, Ashley, and Cassie could catch their breath, they were taken in to a space ship operated by a mysterious Red Ranger! He revealed himself as Andros, a possible sole-survivor of the planet KO-35, and upon learning of Zordon’s capture, quickly decided to go find his old friend. But when Astronema appeared, Andros had no choice but to learn to trust the humans and give them new Astro Morphers to become the Power Rangers In Space!

In what is considered a fan-favorite series, Andros and the other Power Rangers travel the galaxy trying to find Zordon. Along the way Andros searches for his long lost sister, has an old friend return to bolster their ranks, runs in to old friends and old enemies, and becomes the first Power Ranger to get a Battleizer, a super power up destined to sell more toys and started a tradition that continued all the way through Power Rangers Mystic Force and returned, in a sense, in Power Rangers Super Samurai.

The character Andros would return for a multi episode team up in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, and would star again in the 10th Anniversary episode “Forever Red” in the season titled Power Rangers Wild Force. Earlier this year, rumors sprung that perhaps the character Andros would return again, as an image of Christopher Khayman Lee holding a In Space Red Ranger card from the Power Rangers Action Card Game in an action pose circulated the Internet. We would sadly learn that he was not returning for the anniversary tribute episode in Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

Christopher Khayman Lee, born way back in 1978, took an interest in acting and the spotlight after seeing his sister have some moderate success. The role of Andros for Power Rangers In Space was his big break in his acting career. When brought on to the set, he states in a podcast with No Pink Spandex, that he was actually kept isolated from the other actors to really enhance the “loner” aspect that his character was supposed to exhibit in the beginning of the season. He stated that, at times, he felt some negativity towards him as the “new guy” as well as replacing a current actor as Red Ranger while being a newcomer himself. Christopher would go on to have a recurring role on the show “Safe Harbo”, and would last be seen on our televisions as a long haired student in a scene for the now-classic “That 70’s Show”.

What are your thoughts on the 8th Best Power Ranger of All Time as voted by TokuNation users? Click on the “Discuss on the Tokunation forums” link and let us know! And stick with us – we’re ending the year by revealing the remaining Top 20!

TokuNation Users Vote David de Lautour as 9th Best Power Ranger (Jungle Fury Wolf Ranger)

Posted on December 22, 2013 at 10:57 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Jungle Beast, Spirit Unleashed!

Continuing our celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers, the users at TokuNation.com voted the actor David de Lautour (RJ, the Wolf Ranger of Power Rangers Jungle Fury) as the 9th Best Power Ranger of All Time.

When Master Mao passed away, he sent forth three of his students – Casey, Lily, and Theo – to the city to find their new master to continue training them to stop the evil of Dai Shi. Enter Robert James, aka RJ, the man in charge at Jungle Karma Pizza. A bit of a loner with a unique form of training for his students, RJ surprised them (and us to an extent) when he overcame the wildness of his Wolf Animal Spirit to become the Jungle Fury Wolf Ranger, helping the other Jungle Fury Power Rangers in their battle against Dai Shi.

RJ holds the title of, currently, the only purple colored Power Ranger in the franchise’s history (at least for another 4 years until a possible Kyoryuger adaption is brought over). Couple that with the brilliant acting of David de Lautour as RJ and the great writing for the character, RJ is a great selection for the 9th Best Power Ranger of All Time.

Born in 1982, David de Lautour is no stranger to acting, having started back in the late 1990’s in brief roles as Icus and Lief in the hit-show Xena: Warrior Princess. Easily best known for his role as RJ the Wolf Ranger in Power Rangers Jungle Fury and for doing the voice of Vergil in the Devil May Cry, he has also recently had a guest appearance role in NCIS: Los Angeles and continues to work on various film projects each and every year. Congratulations to David de Lautour on being voted by the TokuNation.com users as the 9th Best Power Ranger of All Time!

What do you think of this selection? Do you agree, disagree? Where would you have ranked RJ? Let us know! And stay tuned for the next update as we close out the year with selections 1 through 8!

Tokunation Users’ Top 20 Rangers – #10 is Sean CW Johnson (Lightspeed Red Ranger)

Posted on December 20, 2013 at 11:59 am by Chris under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

We asked the TokuNation.com forum members earlier this year to rate their Top 10 Power Rangers of all time, and from that list, we’d create the TokuNation Users’ Top 20 Power Rangers of All Time list to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers. Rising in popularity the last few years it should be no surprise that taking home the #10 spot on our user-created list is Sean CW Johnson, aka Carter Grayson, the Lightspeed Rescue Red Ranger!

Carter Grayson was one of the top fire fighters in the city of Mariner Bay. His bravery and willingness to rush head first in to danger captured the eye of Captain Mitchell, who unbeknownst to everyone, was heading the Operation Lightspeed program. Carter was recruited to become the Red Ranger for the Lightspeed Rescue, an organization created to fight back the evil demons led by Queen Bansheera and Diabolico.

It is Carter who leads his team to defeat Queen Bansheera and save all of Mariner Bay.

Carter returned in the season Power Rangers Wild Force, and recruits Cole Evans, the Wild Force Red Ranger, to join a group of other Red Rangers traveling to the moon to defeat the remnants of the Machine Empire in the episode “Forever Red”, which celebrated the franchise’s 10th Anniversary. Carter will return again in a special episode of Power Rangers Super Megaforce to save the world from The Armada alongside other veteran Power Rangers. This makes him one of three returning actors to have participated in both the 10th Anniversary and the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers.

The actor, Sean CW Johnson, hasn’t been in acting for almost a decade, but when he was, you would have seen him in guest roles on popular shows like JAG, 7th Heaven, CSI: Miami, and the show Las Vegas. He was born in Sarasota, Florida, and has only recently emerged back in to the public with his Twitter account @seancwjohnson. Be sure to send him a tweet welcoming him back in to the world of Power Rangers!

What do you think of this selection? Should it be higher or lower? Let us know! And be sure to tune in TOMORROW as we announce the #9 selection on our TokuNation Users’ Top 20 Power Rangers of All Time list!

TokuNation Users’ Top 20 Power Rangers – #11 is Dan Ewing (RPM Black Ranger)

Posted on December 19, 2013 at 5:29 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

After a nice long fall hiatus, we’re going to close out 2013 by bringing you the rest of the TokuNation.com Users Top 20 Power Rangers of All Time list for the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers! To kick it off, we’re announcing the next on the list that YOU voted for in early 2013! Your 11th Best Power Ranger of All Time is … Dan Ewing, who played Dillon the Power Rangers RPM Black Ranger!

At the end of the Disney run of the Power Rangers franchise, the series was given to a new executive producer, Eddie Guzelian, who stated he was told that no matter what he did, this was going to be the last installment of Power Rangers. With that in mind, Eddie took the series away from the rather campy humor of talking cars from the Japanese series GoOnger, and instead put our heroes in a post-apocalyptic world where evil machines had taken over. Our heroes, the Power Rangers RPM, were the protectors of the last human civilization on Earth – the domed city of Corinth. A mysterious man in a leather jacket and a hot rod muscle car, Dillon, was selected to be the Series Black Operator because, in part, of the machine implants that were riddled throughout his body. As the series progressed, we learned that the machine implants were actually Venjix hardware, aka the bad guys turned him in to a hybrid human/machine, and that he was also looking for his sister, who he believes he was separated from inside a Venjix facility.

Dillon would eventually find his sister (who we are not naming for spoiler reasons if you haven’t seen the show yet, and if you haven’t, GO SEE IT NOW) and, with the help of Dr. K, find a way to cure the struggle of control in his body between man and machine. The story of Dillon has its happy ending, and you’ll need to watch Power Rangers RPM to find out what all that entails!

Dan Ewing was born and raised near Sydney, Australia. He is an accomplished athlete as well as a successful actor. As well as being on Power Rangers RPM, he also was a contestant in the Australian Dancing with the Stars, as well as a starring role in the show Home and Away, though he has recently announced that he is leaving the show in 2014. You can follow him on Twitter at @_DanEwing.

The countdown continues tomorrow! Who will be Number 10? If you haven’t had a chance to see who 12 thru 20 were, then we can help you out – click here to check out the other Top 20 Rangers. What do you think of this placing – do you agree with your fellow fans? Discuss!

Jason David Frank to Attend Denver Comic Con

Posted on December 19, 2013 at 11:52 am by Chris under Conventions, Other Conventions, Power Morphicon, Power Rangers

Thanks to a posting on his Official Facebook Page, the legendary hero of your childhood, Jason David Frank, will be attending a number of shows for 2014! Among one of his stops is one of the fastest growing and popular shows – Denver Comic Con! Jason David Frank will join Walter Jones (the Mighty Morphin Black Ranger) and David Yost (the Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger) as the first tokusatsu related guests at the third annual Denver Comic Con June 13th-15th 2014.

For those who don’t remember off the top of your head who Jason David Frank is – he played the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger, Mighty Morphin White Ranger, Zeo Red Ranger, Turbo Red Ranger, Dino Thunder Black Ranger, and is set to reprise his Mighty Morphin Power Rangers roles in the 2014 series Power Rangers Super Megaforce in a special episode.

But now for some sad news – based on the scheduled date for Wizard World Chicago, it would appear that Jason David Frank will NOT be attending 2014’s Power Morphicon convention (the official Power Rangers convention). Power Morphicon takes place August 22nd-24th 2014, and Wizard World Chicago takes place August 21st-24th 2014. Jason is currently scheduled as a guest at Wizard World Chicago for their 2014 show and the dates conflict.

If you live in the middle United States and would like to experience a great show, be sure to register for Denver Comic Con as tickets are going fast. TokuNation will be in attendance at the show to bring you pictures and any news that comes up at the show.

There has been no official announcement from Denver Comic Con regarding Jason David Frank’s attendance, nor is there any update from Power Morphicon on whether or not the iconic Power Ranger is or is not attending the official convention. As soon as there is we will bring the news to you.
