under Power Rangers

Arguably the most anticipated special of all time for the Power Rangers brand will release tomorrow, April 19th 2023, for the entire world with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always, a special near-hour-long  30th anniversary celebration of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.  With special thanks to eOne, Hasbro, and Netflix, we were granted an opportunity to review the special early to provide our fellow fans with our thoughts and overall review.  The following is our non-spoiler review where we will talk about certain parts but without spoiling any specific details or story elements.

Obviously the best way to enjoy Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always is to go in 100% blind, so please only continue if you don’t mind having the most basic of elements (ie: “was this good/bad, etc.”) notated.

Hasbro sent over a new sneak peak of the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always special.  This clip features Walter Jones (Zack) and Steve Cardenas (Rocky) returning to the classic Juice Center in Angel Grove to lay down the law against some unruly putties.

Last weekend was WonderCon 2023 and our own @Exastiken was in attendance for coverage!  With special thanks to Bandai and Team Kamen Rider, we were given an exclusive hands-on look at the upcoming Premium Bandai exclusive S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Tycoon from the popular Kamen Rider Geats series!

Everyone’s favorite tanooki features spinning shuriken accessories and looks stunning in the green and red coloring.

Last weekend was WonderCon 2023 and our very own @Exastiken was in attendance to cover the show.  With special thanks to Bandai and Team Kamen Rider, we were given an exclusive hands-on look at the upcoming S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Buffa figure from the hit series Kamen Rider Geats.

Check out the articulated details throughout the entirety of the figure.  Fans who ordered him will no-doubt be pleased with their purchase.

While Ohkuwagata Ohger has just had his reveal on Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, the character is already receiving his own YouTube special.  Toei has announced a free YouTube special featuring Ohkuwagata Ohger scheduled to debut on April 23rd, 2023.

There’s not much more to say without spoiling the character’s identity.  Check out an included picture for the identity reveal.

Today, BOOM! Studios – the publisher of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book – announced a brand new series written by former and original Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger herself – Amy Jo Johnson and her partner, Director Matt Hotson.  The series is scheduled to release later this year as part of the Power Rangers 30 celebration.

While Amy Jo Johnson states it was hard to keep this project a secret, she also stated on her panel at Emerald City Comic Con in December of 2021 that her and Matt Hotson had pitched a story idea to BOOM! Studios for a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic series.  She shared brief story details – essentially that it would follow the current day events of our favorite heroes some 30 years later – at the time of her original announcement.

Amy Jo Johnson also states this is her contribution to the 30th anniversary of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and is one of many reasons she overlooked returning to the show for the upcoming reunion special.

The current Super Sentai series airing in Japan – Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger – is in full swing and winning over the hearts of fans.  And thanks to some magazine scans we have our first look at an upcoming villain character – Ohkuwagata Ohger!

This gray version of Kuwagata Ohger (Red) is shown fighting our new favorite villainous King and fans are speculating on his very-likely identity (we won’t mention it here to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t watched yet).

We want to note – Ohkuwagata Ohger should not be considered a traditional sixth as that character will be, according to previous leaks, spider-themed.

Can’t wait to see this play out in the show!
