BOOM! Studios Announces Power Rangers Prime Comic

Posted on August 23, 2024 at 8:59 am by Chris under Power Rangers

Fans of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series from BOOM! Studios recently saw their beloved comic book universe come to a close in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour.  At that time, the future of Power Rangers comics seemed murky, but BOOM! Studios has now removed those fears with the announcement of their new on-going Power Rangers comic series titled “Power Rangers Prime“.

Similar in concept to the idea of the Ultimates universe in Marvel Comics, Power Rangers Prime features the Power Rangers but in a brand new universe untied to any previous continuity.  The main character to start this series is none other than the Power Rangers Samurai Red Ranger Lauren Shiba, who is on the run from the Eltarian Police for being a Power Ranger, and finds her way to Angel Grove where she will meet friends and foes, and not necessarily who you expect.  Another star in the series will be a Power Rangers Megaforce character, and potentially a member from Power Rangers Jungle Fury.  The new comic has no rules in what it can do and who it can focus on with no ties to previous continuity.

Read the full story via IGN.

The new comic is written by Melissa Flores and will be illustrated by Michael Yg.  Character design and covers are handled by veteran Power Rangers artist Dan Mora.  Power Rangers Prime #1 releases on November 13th 2024.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 27 Cover Change – Spoilers

Posted on March 29, 2018 at 12:18 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

As you’re all well aware, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 25 released yesterday and took the Power Rangers fandom by storm. The comic is currently sold out and – spoiler – something big happens in it. Thanks to @MisturYellow on Twitter, we now notice there’s a CHANGE to an upcoming cover for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 27.

The original cover (shown in the image of this article) was easily one of the most popular covers revealed by BOOM! Studios previously as it features the Samurai Red Ranger Lauren as well as Dr.K in the Power Rangers RPM universe. But a change to the cover was spotted in a SyFy interview with the team behind the comic.

Power Rangers Shattered Grid – Covers, Sentries and a new Ranger!

Posted on February 2, 2018 at 4:09 pm by ZeoRangerV under Power Rangers

As Power Rangers: Shattered Grid draws ever closer, the anticipation for Boom! Studios’ forthcoming comic book event grows higher and higher and thanks to IGN, we have a number of new covers and concept art pieces to tease what the story has in store for fans.

First up are the latest sentries to join the evil Lord Drakkon’s growing army – the Zeo and Samurai Sentries! Much like the previously seen sentries these soldiers have augmented versions of preexisting ranger powers. The Green Zeo Sentry is equipped with a mech suit that can use a variety of weapons, whilst the Blue Samurai Sentry sports a more armoured version of the costume together with twin arm blades and red eyes glowing through their visor.

The third piece of concept art for the event is of a new villain from Drakkon’s timeline – Finster Five. Go Go Power Rangers writer Ryan Parrott pitched the character as a version of a cyborg version of Rita’s chief monster maker that has been augmented using parts from Alpha 5.

Rounding off the images are the covers for Power Rangers #27 and Go Go Power Rangers #9, each of which show off some new faces to the Power Rangers comic universe. Power Rangers #27 shows the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger protecting RPM’s Dr K from Grinders alongside the female Red Samurai Rangers, while Go Go Power Rangers #9 has an even bigger surprise in store. This issue is set to debut a brand new Power Ranger, who writers Ryan Parrot and Kyle Higgins tease is a “new ranger with a familiar face”.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise, Power Rangers: Shattered Grid kicks off in issue #25 of the main Power Rangers comic, which will be released on March 21st. You can check out the full gallery of covers and concept art after the jump, as well as share your thoughts on the upcoming event.

The previously seen Black & Gold Megazord was just revealed this past weekend at New York Toy Fair so we knew what to expect there, and thanks to Raz’s descriptions of the Dino Charge Multi-Packs we have some insight into those as well. Likewise it’s fairly obvious that the Megaforce Dragon Sword & Samurai Mega Blade appear to be some sort of special reissues of these toys from their individual lines.

However today brings confirmation on what exactly the Legacy Mighty Morphin Vehicle sets are. They have indeed been confirmed to be reissues of the Zord Vehicle Rangers from the Mighty Morphin 2010 relaunch toy line. Based on the actual images Raz himself has seen and what these previous releases looked like we can now confirm the Legacy Vehicles will indeed be rehashes of these items. No confirmation on paint, or plastic vs diecast differences of any kind yet.

Stay tuned as more information becomes available!

Special Make-A-Wish Event at Power Morphicon – Saturday Morning Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Posted on August 20, 2014 at 12:28 am by Chris under Conventions, Power Morphicon, Power Rangers

For those who don’t remember this far back – the original Power Morphicon was created in part because of the Make-A-Wish foundation. Staying true to its roots, there will be a special ribbon cutting ceremony at this year’s Power Morphicon on the morning of Saturday, August 23rd at 8:45 AM. Five young Junior Rangers from Make-A-Wish will join the Power Rangers and Alex Heartman (“Jayden” the Power Rangers Samurai Red Ranger) in a special can’t-miss stunt, followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony. There will also be surprise guests at this event.

TokuNation.com, affiliated with the Power Force, will be in attendance and covering the event. Be sure to follow us @TokuNation on Twitter as well as with site owner and Power Force member Kickback (@rankal on Twitter) for all your Power Morphicon news, images, and updates throughout the weekend!

Can you tell that the convention season is in full swing? Every weekend there’s another show with another toku-related guest appearing! And we’re struggling to keep up! But for those of you who are planning to attend this year’s Anime Expo you’re in for a special treat!

For starters – fans of Kamen Rider Gaim will have a chance to meet the man responsible for this incredible series. The writer of the series, Gen Urobuchi, will be in attendance at this year’s show. He will be hosting his own panel to discuss his current and upcoming projects, and will be appearing at the Good Smile Company booth to sign autographs on Friday and Saturday starting at 11:00am.

And for you Power Rangers fans, you too have reason to rejoice! Alex Heartman, known better as Jayden the Power Rangers Samurai Red Ranger, as well as Hector David Jr. also known as Mike the Power Rangers Samurai Green Ranger will be in attendance on both Saturday and Sunday at the Power Morphicon/Robo Toy Fest booth. Exact times and autograph opportunities have yet to be listed.

Anime Expo 2014 is THIS weekend. In fact, it technically starts Thursday, July 3rd and runs through Sunday, July 6th. We are pleased to state that TokuNation.com will be in attendance (simply as fans), but will share any and all information with you that’s made available – especially anything Kamen Rider Gaim related that Gen Urobuchi reveals! Stay tuned!
