Mighty Morphin Power Rangers veteran voice actor Dave Mallow has sadly passed away at the age of 76.
Dave Mallow served as the series’ announcer along with performing the voice of Baboo along with several other monsters including Pudgy Pig, Grumble Bee, Lizzinator, Trumpet Top & Bookula in the Mighty Morphin era, and would continue to make guest appearances as monster voices throughout the franchise from Power Rangers Zeo down to Power Rangers Wild Force.
Our thoughts are with Dave Mallows’ friends and family in this difficult time.
We were on hand at this year’s New York Toy Fair 2025 and had the chance to take a look at the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition lineup of figures and accessories from the new license holder for Power Rangers toys, Playmates.
Some other details we learned during our time witn Playmates:
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition will be on shelves at major retailers later this year, and more product to follow in 2026 (specifically teased the Dragonzord, which will combine with the Megazord).

The worlds of Super Sentai are colliding!
A new VS project has been announced featuring a teamup between the Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger and the Ohsama Sentai King-Onger.
Set following the conclusion of Boonboomger, the story features a Hashiriyan stealing a royal jewel under the King-Ohgers’ protection.
Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger VS King-Ohger will receive a theatrical release on May 1 20215 with a home media release following in October 2025.
Tonight is the annual Super Sentai press conference, introducing the newest team of heroes to the world!
The No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger has been fully revealed, and this new team will consist of:
*Gozyu Wolf/Tono Hoeru played by Fuyuno Miu– Tono is a strong man with a good heart but also unsociable and foul-mouthed; which causes him to bounce between jobs. When his spirit is high he has a tendency to howl.
*Gozyu Leon/Rikuo Hyakuya played by Hideharu Suzuki– Rikuo is a constant people-pleaser and strategist. In the past he was a famous idol but an untold incident forced him to leave.
*Gozyu Tyranno/Ryugi Bakugami played by Kanda Masakazu– Ryugi is a physically strong but naive who worships the ancient power of the TegaSword even at the cost of being outcast from his family.
*Gozyu Eagle/Kinjiro Takehara played by Jin Matsumoto– Kinjiro is a high school student with a very serious nature who wants to become more relaxed and enjoy partying; he too is estranged from family.
*Gozyu Unicorn/Sumino Ichikawa played by Maya Imamori– Sumino was a police academy candidate but was ostracized by fellow cadets and forced to leave so she now works as a private detective, unafraid to use her charms as weapons when necessary.
Uniting the five strays is the mighty TegaSword voiced by Yuki Kaji– in the past TegaSword ended a tremendous calamity between Super Sentai robos but at the cost of splitting his powers into Sentai Rings that have scattered across the universe. Sentai Rings are attracted to those with strong wishes; which will lead to the BATTLE FOR THE RINGS to determine who is truly No. 1 in the universe.
The mysterious villain group Braidan will attack Earth as part of a plot to awaken TegaSword for themselves. Leading the Braiden group is a unique fusion creature: Mr. Shining Knife (voiced by Tomokazu Sugita ) and Mrs. Sweet Cake (voiced by Reina Ueda).
*The Undefeated Special Attack Force Leader FireCandle (played by Daisuke Sambongi) will lead the main assault against the Gozyugers; FireCandle is a passionate fanatic maintaining an unusual friendship with Gozyu Wolf. Aiding FireCandle is Bouquet played by Marupi.
The opening theme for Gozyuger is Winner! Gozyugers by the band Wienners while the ending theme Biri Biri Be-lie-ving is performed by Miyu Kaneko.
No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger officially begins February 16 2025!
HOWEVER a special EPISODE ZERO of this new Super Sentai will air on the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club channel on February 2 2025!
Bandai has released the first video demonstration of the main henshin device AND Mecha for the upcoming Super Sentai series No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger!
This is our closest look yet at the DX TegaSword– a hand mounted device used by all five Gozyugers. The TegaSword is powered by Sentai Rings that unleash the powers of past Super Sentai teams.
The TegaSword has a Mecha form as well! The default form is TegaSword Red used by Gozyu Wolf but additional forms can be unlocked with new armor sets:
*Gozyu Leon’s Leon Buster 50
*Gozyu Tyranno’s Tyranno Hammer 50
*Gozyu Eagles’ Eagle Shooter 50
*Gozyu Unicorns’ Unicorn Drill 50
The DX TegaSword Robo is priced at 7150 Yen while each Gozyu Armor is priced at 3850 Yen. The Gozyuger line will begin on February 15 2025!
The official Power Rangers Instagram account today teased the return of Power Rangers collectibles, now from Playmates, with the branding Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition.
Playmates acquired the license to create Power Rangers toys from Hasbro in 2024, with a scheduled launch date of Fall 2025. Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks had stated in Hasbro earnings calls that Power Rangers as a brand failed to meet their threshold in terms of profitability to continue as is, thus the licensing out of the brand to other companies like Playmates. The announcement of the licensing deal included specific language that Playmates would be creating a lineup of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys. While rumors have circulated that Playmates would be making both a “kids” toy-line as well as an older collectible toy-line, nothing concrete has surfaced beyond rumors.
No further details were given. At San Diego Comic Con, a Playmates representative had stated that their lineup of Power Rangers toys would be revealed at Toy Fair 2025, which takes place March 1st through March 4th at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City.
