Tamashii Akiba Showroom: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Grease, Cronus, Genm Level Billion

Posted on March 10, 2018 at 4:43 am by ZeoRangerV under Kamen Rider

Tamashii Nations’ Akiba Showroom recently updated it’s displays, and among them is a brand new figure as well as a few returning faces from previous events!

First up is the first appearance of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Grease, who like his fellow Sclash Driver user Cross-X charge utilises translucent plastic parts on the face and chest. There is no release date information for the Kamen Rider Build character as of yet, however at the time of writing it is being reported as a Tamashii web exclusive.

Next up are two more figures from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid – Kamen Rider Cronus and Kamen Rider Genm God Maximum Gamer Level 1000000000. These figures have been seen at previous Tamashii events, and although Genm is a repaint of the (currently unreleased) Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99 figure it’s reappearance here has been well-timed with the release of the Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: Another Ending V-Cinema trilogy in which it debuts. Again, neither of these figures currently have release dates but Cronus is being reported as a web exclusive.

Check out the full-sized images after the jump and we’ll bring you more information on these figures as it comes!

Super Minipla Muteki Shogun, Kakure Daishogun, & Tsubasamaru In the Works?

Posted on March 9, 2018 at 3:50 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

A new Super Minipla Encyclopedia has just been released (images from Tendou Toys), and within it’s pages are a number of current and upcoming releases. Among these are also preliminary designs for other projects in the pipeline. So while not revealed physically yet, the most significant items of interest contained in the book are a trio of projects from Ninja Sentai Kakuranger!

Following up from the soon to be released Liveman sets, Kakuranger makes a ton of sense given what the collector market is hoping for. And so far we have general design for Muteki Shogun, Kakure Daishogun, & Tsubasamaru! That’s quite the triple threat of new Super Minipla if this is indeed the next project the design team embarks on. With Zyuranger kits wrapped up and Liveman about to drop, these would be welcome additions indeed.

The Encyclopedia makes mention of several past sentai and even features some photos of vintage Candy Toy & Gashapon Robo sets from shows like Kousoku Sentai Turboranger. Could we see a series like that next on the horizon? We’ll be sure to update you if so!

Hasbro Investor Update at UBS Global Consumer and Retail Conference – Power Rangers

Posted on March 8, 2018 at 9:00 am by Chris under Uncategorized

Yesterday, CEO of Hasbro Inc. Brian Goldner spoke to investors and press to outline the company’s strategy going forward in the coming years. While a good portion of the conference detailed out Hasbro‘s franchise brands (such as Transformers, My Little Pony, etc.), a portion was spent discussing the recent acquisition of Power Rangers – and more importantly – why they pursued it and their future plans with it.

To quote Brian Goldner directly:

“Let’s start with the consumer and the child in them. First of all, 20% of Hasbro’s revenues are for people who are teenagers and older. So, while kids may be ‘getting older younger’, adults want to ‘stay younger longer’. And so both of those dynamics are important to us. People want to play at every age. The other important thing is: kids getting older younger just means they get to be more ‘decisional younger’. They’re actually expressing their own desires for the things they want to play with. It’s not to say they don’t play with play-things, it’s just instead of thinking about at a non-branded play-thing, they want a brand that’s associated with the character that’s most beloved. That’s why we recently brought on the Power Rangers. And the Power Rangers will now become part of our portfolio because it’s a very young-skewing brand and we know through our research that young children express a preference at a younger age. We want to be with characters and stories that are meaningful to them.”

To sum up Brian’s words – teenage to adult fans make up 20% of Hasbro‘s total revenue. Their goal is to appeal both to the adult who yearns to be a kid again as well as the young kid who wants more than just a toy because it has the name of the series they like but because it’s related to a character they’ve come to connect with. One reason they sought Power Rangers was because of the characters and stories that it has and continues to tell.

Special thanks to Silver Optimus of our sister site TFW2005.COM for transcribing the conference.

Posted on March 5, 2018 at 2:28 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Nexon Mobile, known in the Power Rangers community for having created the popular mobile game Power Rangers Dash, has developed a brand new Power Rangers game for mobile devices. Titled simply “Power Rangers RPG”, the game features a real-time automated battle system with up to five Power Rangers battling against numerous monsters and a boss at the end of each stage. We were lucky enough to take part in the closed beta testing process (which was open to certain areas via the Android Google Play Store) and this is our first impressions of the game.

Please note – this game is still under development and nothing seen in these videos or images should be considered final. The developers have already stated that changes will be made based on user feedback.
