Met with heavy speculation at first it appears this first official image of Godzilla 2014 Film toy merchandise might actually be real. Newsouth Books has listed a 2″ Light-Up Godzilla figure kit which includes a 60 year mini-history book of the character. Produced by Running Press, this release is very similar to the type of merchandise the company has often made for book stores and comic & specialty shops relating to such properties as Batman and Doctor Who.
Release date is set for April 2014 at a retail price of $19.99.

NOTE!: There is a LOT of back and forth going on across the Godzilla fandom on whether or not this image is real, partly because of the embargo that Bandai has on revealing the image(s) of the new Godzilla. The product listing is most likely real – a book with a 2″ figure is something specialty retailers love to do and it’s nothing out of the ordinary. The image is what is being called in to question. Until we receive concrete “yes” or concrete “no” on this, we’ll leave the story up and let YOU decide.

I like the look,much better then Zilla.The toy itself,well it's only one out of a whole line.When I saw it came with a book,I figured it wouldn't be extrememly polished and articulated.I bet though that they'll release a fig that is polished and articulated.
They want $20 for this? NECA's Pacific Rim toys are looking a hell of a lot better right now. At least those are nice to look at.
Is it bad that I only like the box an book? Sorry... that doesn't look like Godzilla to me. Where is the mean and fierce Godzilla we all know?

Amended the article. Still a lot of back and forth on whether or not this is real or fake. Those claiming "fake" haven't been able to prove that it is fake. Those claiming it's "real" have the advantage in that regard. Either way, we changed the wording and added a "NOTE" to the end of the news story. If we get concrete confirmation on real or fake, we'll pass it along.
Fake or not,$20 buck for a book and a figure that looks like that seem about right.It's not meant to be high quality,just a bonus with the book.It also seems people are judging the whole toy line based on just this figure when you can't really call it a figure.
