Tony Oliver, Producer and more for 6 years of Power Rangers, to Attend Nan Desu Kan

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 12:14 pm by Chris under Conventions, Other Conventions, Power Rangers

One of the most central, behind-the-scenes figures for many years of the original run of Power Rangers with Saban Entertainment, Tony Oliver, will be in attendance at this year’s Nan Desu Kan convention in Denver, Colorado.

Tony Oliver did many things for the Power Rangers, including but not limited to: development producer, writer, story editor, consultant for “Power Rangers: The Movie”, and more!

If you’re in or around the Denver, Colorado area this coming September 14th-16th, swing by Nan Desu Kan and meet the man behind so much of American Tokusatsu’s emergance in to mainstream North America’s pop-culture.

Robert Axelrod, Lord Zedd in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, to Attend ICON 31

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 12:07 pm by Chris under Conventions, Other Conventions, Power Rangers

Attention northeast United States Tokusatsu fans!

The voice behind one of the creepiest villains of our childhoods, and probably the best villain created for a live-action kids show, Robert Axelrod, aka Lord Zedd of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, will be in attendance at this year’s ICON 31 convention, held in Stony Brook, NY, March 30th – April 1st.

If you’re in the northeast United States, check out ICON 31 and take the chance to meet an icon of American Tokusatsu!

FileSonic File Sharing Service Shuts Down – Personal Upload/Download Only

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 6:06 pm by Chris under General Tokusatsu News

Hot on the heels of the widely publicized Megaupload shut down last week by the United States Government, FileSonic has recently put on their website the following message:

All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Our service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.

As we are all aware, those of us who do not use Torrents rely on such services like Megaupload and FileSonic for our Fan Subs. The conspiracy theories are running rampant – literally a DAY after major websites like Wikipedia and Google displayed their public protest of the contraversial SOPA and PIPA] bills in the Congress and Senate of the United States, Megaupload was shut down, and now days later, FileSonic basically makes their website worthless.

This makes the future of Fan Subs a little darker. What do you think of what’s going on? Discuss it all here (yes it’s political but we’re looking past that rule on our forums because this discussion effects everyone).

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 4:53 pm by Chris under Super Sentai

There are only a few episodes left in the fan-adored series Pirate Sentai Gokaiger and the show looks to be going out with a bang! Confirmed via his own blog, Kazuoki Takahashi (Shou/ChangeGryphon) will be appearing in an upcoming episode of Gokaiger. Also, Kihachiro Uemura (Dai/Green Flash, pictured) supposedly confirmed at Teruaki Ogawa’s charity event that he will also be showing up in Gokaiger.

Also rumored to appear is Ryou Narushima (Remi/Five Yellow), all in Episode 49.

In the words of the Gokaiger … let’s make a show of it!
