Akibaranger Season 2 Cast Confirmed

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 12:39 am by Den-O under Super Sentai

Thanks yet again to user DrillBit for pointing us in the right direction for this info. It has been revealed, via the Akiabranger Official Website who the confirmed cast members are for Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger Season 2!

Masato Wada as Nobuo Akagi Akiba Red
Karin Ogin as Moegi Yumeria/Yuko Yokoyama Akiba Yellow
Shione Sawada as Mitsuki Iwashimizu Akiba Blue
Honoka as Malsheena
Maya Uchida as Hiroyo Hakase
Kozue Aikawa as Kozkoz
Ryo Horikawa as new villain General Tsu. Fans of Horikawa will recognize him as the voice of none other than Dragon Ball Z’s Vegeta!

Sadly this news confirms what has long been suspected. Akiba Blues’ original actress, Kyoko Hinami, will not be returning. She recently changed acting agencies in between the 2 seasons of Akibaranger and as a result can no longer work on the show. Her inability to return will most likely be written into the story as Hate Saburo messing with the Akibarangers universe once again.

The alterations to the Akiba Blue costume probably stem from the characters departure and the new persona that Yellow has taken on (Yuko) could explain the buns where her pigtails used to be. We’re still waiting for more info on the Akiba Red Z-Cune Power Up Armor as well.

Kyoyuger Rumor – More Than 6 Heroes?

Posted on February 21, 2013 at 11:20 am by Den-O under Super Sentai

About a month ago Tokunation.com brought you the rumors of 10 Zyudenryu mecha that would appear in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. Today we bring you a new set of rumors about the rangers that may have been partnered with those other mecha!

According to information posted at AlphaHeroShock when Zyudenryu 06, Ankyodon, appears the spirit of his Kyoryuger will appear and grant the modern Kyoryugers his power! Ankyodons’ partner ranger is said to have been chosen 500 years ago. Named Ramirez he was the Brave of Steel, KyoryuCyan!

This would also lead us to believe that for each new mecha the Kyoryugers acquire that the spirit of a fallen hero will greet them! We know for a fact that Torin created 10 Zyudenryu when the Debos invaded Earth in ancient times. There have been unconfirmed reports of up to 23 Zyudenryu appearing! Will we get a hero for each of them?

Kyoryuger Production Interview & Color Logic

Posted on February 18, 2013 at 6:37 pm by Paladin under Super Sentai

A recent interview with new Super Sentai chief producer Takahito Ohmori gives us a few early insights into this new team, and the apparent logic behind one noticeable color choice:

…We chose to have more male characters over female characters. Seeing how modern Yellows have been female, we couldn’t have a male Yellow. If the Yellow was a male, the kids would probably think is feminine and we wanted to avoid that.

Members, do we agree with this logic? Will it possibly affect the future storytelling elements in this new series? What are your thoughts?

Ultraman Land To Close This Year

Posted on February 15, 2013 at 12:34 am by Den-O under Ultraman

And now a sad bit of news folks. After 17 years of business, Tokyo’s famed Ultraman Land is closing its doors. The park was opened for operation in 1996 in Tokyo’s Sunshine City Complex. Ever since its creation the park has featured tons of activities for fans of all ages. Stage shows, live events, interviews and public appearances by cast and crew, and so much more. There are even replicas on display of nearly every Ultraman prop or costume that you could think of from the entire franchise!

Tsuburaya (Ultraman’s parent company) has stated that the parks closure coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the franchise. They’re gearing up for the anniversary itself but are closing the most memorable place for fans to enjoy Ultraman which seems odd. The park will close this September 2013 so if you’re a Japanese based fan or will be traveling there soon then be sure to drop in to see Ultraman Land for the last time.
