Talkin Toku Episode 024 – Power Rangers Dino Charge Premiere Reaction – Released!

Posted on February 6, 2015 at 11:47 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

For over a year, the hosts of Talkin Toku have relentlessly shared their negative opinions towards Power Rangers Megaforce and Power Rangers Super Megaforce. To the point that some in the fan community choose not to listen to us because we refuse to accept anything less than GOOD writing, GOOD acting, and GOOD story-telling. We are labeled as “haters”, and “just more people bashing Power Rangers”. To that we say THANK YOU – we refuse to accept something just because the name is slapped on it, and for the last four years that is exactly what we’ve had – poor story-telling, poor acting (from most, not all), poor direction, poor editing, and poor decisions regarding the television program that we all grew up with as kids.

On Saturday, February 7th, kids across the world will be introduced to Power Rangers Dino Charge, the next iteration of the fabled Power Rangers franchise. Returning to helm the show is fan-favorite executive producer Chip Lynn, who many praised before the first episode was even released. Will his presence be felt? Or is Power Rangers now forever destined to be a mere “Google translate” show of Super Sentai?

Join Kickback/Chris, Den-O/Jordan, Sentai Tamashii/Tom, and two very special guests – trekkieb47/Eric and baltmatrix/Matt – as we spend over an hour and a half discussing the good, the bad, and the ugly with Power Rangers Dino Charge. Did it live up to the hype? What are our individual thoughts on the episode and the direction of the franchise with this new series? And most importantly (and most shocking) – what did Den-O/Jordan, best known for his utter disdain for all things Power Rangers, feel about the premiere?

You WILL be surprised!

Before we begin the discussion of Power Rangers Dino Charge the group takes a moment to discuss the elephant in the room and the tragic incident regarding Rick Medina, who played the role of Cole Evans the Red Wild Force Power Ranger as well as Dekker in Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai. The question we ask – does Saban Brands react in any way, and if so, how?

NOTE! This episode was recorded before Rick Medina was released from jail with no charges pressed (at the moment, investigation is on-going).

And maybe most importantly, the Twitter trend from the night of the recording and the focus of our episode picture is revealed (to an extent). See the beginning of how five nerds started a brief trend on Twitter within the Tokusatsu community and how it all came to be. Unfortunately, we weren’t recording when everything really took off – but we saved the pictures and they are now available for you to view.

Also – we read your reactions to the premiere from Twitter!

New Power Rangers Dino Charge Character Details Online!

Posted on January 29, 2015 at 3:10 pm by Paladin under Power Rangers

A recent story at ComicBook.com gives us a few more details about the supporting cast for this new season!

Lining up to aide and challenge this season’s Power Rangers are Keeper, Poisandra, and Sledge. In Power Rangers Dino Charge, a prehistoric cache of 10 powerful “Energems” become the target of Sledge, an intergalactic bounty hunter, and his fiancee, Poisandra. Protecting the gems is Keeper, who must enlist the Power Rangers’ help in finding the gems and keeping the alien enemies at bay.

As the Power Rangers’ guiding force, Keeper is the reptile-like creature tasked with the responsibility of guarding the highly sought after Energems, which provide the Power Rangers Dino Charge with their unique set of abilities. An ancient being who has protected the Energems since prehistoric time, Keeper will also be a moral and spiritual compass for the Power Rangers during their times of struggle.

And the Rangers will certainly struggle, as the season’s villains, Sledge and Poisandra, will stop at nothing to find the Energems and destroy the Power Rangers. A selfish bounty hunter with aspirations for invincibility, fame, and riches, Sledge is the least-worthy person in the universe to obtain the gems. Still, his foul ways don’t seem to phase the equally despicable Poisandra, his partner and fiancee with selfish intentions of her own.

This is the first story confirming the existence of Sledge’s fiancee, a character fans may recognize as Lady Candelira from Kyoryuger.

Los Angeles, CA (January 20, 2015) – Saban Brands and Nickelodeon will debut the 22nd season of the iconic Power Rangers franchise, Power Rangers Dino Charge, on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 12 p.m. (ET/PT). Premiering on Nickelodeon, the new season will deliver more dino-charged action and adventure than ever before, with an out-of-this-world storyline and an epic new team of Rangers. New episodes from this larger-than-life season will continue to air every Saturday at 12 p.m. on Nickelodeon in the U.S., with encore episodes airing Sundays at 8 a.m. on Nickelodeon and Saturdays at 7 p.m. on Nicktoons. In Power Rangers Dino Charge, an alien entrusted powerful Energems to 10 dinosaurs, but when the dinosaurs went extinct, the Energems were lost. Now, an intergalactic bounty hunter is determined to reclaim the Energems and rule the universe, destroying our planet in the process. A new team of Power Rangers must find the lost Energems and use their Dino Chargers to power up an arsenal of dino-fueled weapons, zords and Megazords to save the world!

“Power Rangers Dino Charge will bring fans an action-filled story packed with all-new monsters, villains, weapons, and of course, Power Rangers,” said Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands. “We know our fans will love what we have in store with this all-new dino-themed season.”

“It’s really great to be back with Power Rangers. I’m humbled to be part of a show that continues to capture the hearts of so many kids, even after 20+ years,” said Executive Producer, Power Rangers Dino Charge, Judd “Chip” Lynn. “I’ve been involved in a lot of seasons, but for Power Rangers Dino Charge, we’re pushing the limits, going to places and times we’ve never visited before, with some unexpected storylines and dino-charged plot twists!”

The new team of Dino Charge Rangers includes: Tyler, the Red Ranger (Brennan Mejia), Koda, the Blue Ranger (Yoshi Sudarso), Shelby, the Pink Ranger (Camille Hyde), Chase, the Black Ranger (James Davies) and Riley, the Green Ranger (Michael Taber).

Start the Hype – PelleK Metallizes Power Rangers Dino Charge Theme

Posted on January 12, 2015 at 12:35 am by Chris under Power Rangers

If you remember from the middle of last year, Internet and YouTube sensation PelleK did a “metal” cover of the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song. It proved to be quite popular, and PelleK then did something that was pretty awesome – he sang all the theme songs for all the Power Rangers songs in one sitting. It was so well loved by Haim Saban that they signed PelleK and used his music in a lot of their promotional work on social media and released to purchase as Power Rangers Mega Mix.

Well, PelleK is back – this time covering the upcoming theme song for Power Rangers Dino Charge! And I will be honest and throw my personal opinion in this news story – it really rocks! Take a listen below!

How do you like this cover of the upcoming Power Rangers Dino Charge theme? Does it sound better or worse than the actual theme? Join in our on-going discussion!

Posted on January 3, 2015 at 12:00 pm by Chris under Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

We look to the past
As we head towards the future
To reclaim the Digital world

With faith in ourselves
And trust in each other
We live by the lessons we learned

As we work towards one solution
Through a spirit evolution

It’s the end of 2014 and the start of 2015 and Talkin Toku is ringing in the New Year the way they do best – by being late to it! Join Kickback aka Chris, Den-O aka Jordan and Sentai Tamashii aka Tom as they spend 2 horribly long hours reflecting on 2014 and looking ahead to 2015!

Before the reflection begins – it’s time to talk current Toku! Join in the discussion of their continued thoughts as more and more of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger is revealed! And the question everyone has on their minds … has Tom even seen the trailers for the damn show?! We also take a look at the extended Power Rangers Dino Charge (and discover if Tom has watched that trailer too).

Then we reflect on 2014. What was the Best Toku Toy of 2014? And the Worst Toku Toy of 2014? Reflecting on the year of news itself, What was the biggest Toku news of 2014? And the question that no one is going to accurately guess the answer to … our opinion on Which of the 3 Toku shows (Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Kamen Rider Gaim, and Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger) had the best ending? We also take a moment to read YOUR answers to those questions – thanks to everyone who submitted their thoughts/opinions/answers!

And by popular demand … the return of Toku Company’s New Year’s Resolutions for 2015 … what we think Bandai of America, Bluefin Tamashii Nations, Tamashii Nations, Bandai Japan, Saban Brands Entertainment, and Shout! Factory should have for New Year’s Resolutions!

Join us in this end of the year celebration as we celebrate a staggering average of 1.25 episodes a month and promise to do better in 2015!
