Gosei Great Candy Toy / MiniPla Gallery by MoonBaseTom

Posted on December 10, 2013 at 5:20 pm by Chris under Super Sentai

While we have a brand new look and feel to the website, we’re still celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers!  And what would an anniversary celebration be without a gallery of some really small toys by super-small-toy collector and photo contributor MoonBaseTom?

Today, MoonBaseTom brings you a gallery of the MiniPla Gosei Great figure from Tensou Sentai Goseiger, or the Japanese series that Power Rangers Megaforce is adapted from.  These little guys feature more articulation than their DX counterparts and look pretty slick!

DX Gokai Machine Magi Dragon Gallery – Toku Toy Box Prize Entry

Posted on December 8, 2013 at 5:56 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Ranger Key, set!

Our tribute to Power Rangers Megaforce & Super Megaforce continues with another DX gallery from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger! Using the ranger keys of Mahou Sentai Magiranger in Gokai Oh summons the Grand Power of Magiranger, Magi Dragon!

DX Magi Dragon is of course based on Magiking’s Magi Dragon form. Though considerably smaller than the original it’s still a fun little DX figure. It breaks down into 5 components to be stored within Gokai Oh until the dial gimmick is activated. When spun, the dial hits sequential triggers in each of Gokai Oh’s limbs that unlock the doors allowing the spring loaded parts to push them open and “transform” into place. When combined with Magi Dragon it’s referred to as Magi Gokai Oh! Here’s a quick review of the dial feature:

And remember that Toku Toy Box 2013 is under way to celebrate our 2 year anniversary! Posting in this thread automatically enters you in for a chance to win our:

Ultra Robo Kaiju Prize Pack
-S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla ’64
-NECA Pacific Rim Series 2 Battle Damage Gipsy Danger & Leatherback
-DX Ultraman Saga
-Marusan Reissue Gamera Vinyl
-Pacific Rim 8X12 Coyote Tango Print

Just make a post in this thread or the upcoming gallery of DX Gozyujin to be entered in for this specific prize pack. 8 galleries this month gives you the chane to be entered in for each prize pack twice! Please note that all staff members and last years Toy Box winner are inellegible for entry.

DX Gokai Oh Gallery – Toku Toy Box Prize Entry Thread

Posted on December 6, 2013 at 9:53 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

If you haven’t been following Tokunation’s year long tribute to Power Rangers 20th Anniversary, then here’s your chance to jump in on our coverage! This month our tribute turns to Power Rangers Megaforce & Super Megaforce and to celebrate we’re bringing you galleries of the ENTIRE line of DX mecha from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger!

Today’s gallery is of the Gokaigers main mecha, Gokai Oh! The central gimmick of this line was opening compartments which could house future mecha add-ons. These “Grand Powers” of previous sentai split into multiple components which could either fully fill the Gokai Oh’s compartments or in some cases replace the limbs of it entirely. The dial on Gokai Oh’s back hits triggers in each limb as it’s turned and opens the compartments in sequence. An additional cannon accessory can also be mounted within the chest and can be activated by the spinning dial gimmick. If you’d like to, check out the differences between this figure and it’s US counterpart the Legendary Megazord then check those images out as well.

But that’s not all! Registered users, please post in this thread. That post will automatically enter you in for one of our Toku Toy Box Giveaway prizes!! Specifically posting in this thread will enter you in for the:

Kamen Rider Magically Delicious Prize Pack
Kamen Rider Magically Delicious Prize Pack
-S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Wizard Infinity
-S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Abyss
-Special & Copy Candy Toy Wizard Rings
-Inflatable Kamen Rider Gaim Pine Arms Flail
-DX Grape Lock Seed with Ryugen Belt Plate

Help us celebrate our upcoming 2 year anniversary by taking part in this gallery and the 6 more still to come!

Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger Toy Catalogue Scans Revealed!

Posted on December 6, 2013 at 2:46 am by Den-O under Super Sentai

thanks to Herotaku we have full sized images of the entire line-up from Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger! Credit to Tokunation.com user Kamen Blitz for pointing us to these images!

These scans show case the entire team of Tokkyu 1-5 as well as their first robo Tokkyu-Oh, their 5 individual weapons which are capable of combing into the tentatively named “Ranketsu Buster” & their “Tokkyu Changer” wrist mounted henshin devices. It’s all here people, the 38th Super Sentai has rolled into the station for it’s year long adventure!!

UPDATED:
Tons of new info translations courtesy of the team at Herotaku!

“2014’s Super Sentai are trains…Ressha!! The locomotives, bullet trains, and steam trains which everybody admired when they were children. The theme of the 38th Super Sentai series is “Trains”! The Tokkyugers, along with the “Ressha”, must protect the “Rainbow Line” railroad from the evil “Shadows”. Imagining victory, these 5 heroes set off on their journey!”
The gimmick for this year are the “Ressha”, which are train carriages which are used in the weapons, changers etc. The “Ressha” are also components for the mecha and seem to mostly form additional arms. Ten different Ressha are shown on this page. Also detailed is an interesting concept called “Norikae Henshin” (literally “Transfer Transformation”, “Transfermation”?). So when Tokkyu 1 uses the Green Ressha to transform, he will become Tokkyu 1 Green. A form that looks exactly like Tokkyu 4, but with a number 1 on the head and chest. It remains unknown what purpose this colour swapping feature, apart from being needlessly confusing, will serve.
The transformation item is the TokkyuChanger, a wrist based transformation item. The Ressha are placed in the Changer and a lever is lowered to facilitate the transformation. The transformation sound will be the name of the Tokkyuger, so for 1 it’s “Tokkyu 1, Tokkyu 1”. After this point different Ressha can be used to cause different “Transfer Transformations”. The changer is compatible with all the Ressha and comes with just the Red Ressha.
Also, on this page are two auxiliary Ressha. The first is Tank Ressha, a light blue train, which splits into two parts and attaches onto both of TokkyuOh’s arms to from TokkyuOh Tank. This form fights with a boxing style.
The second is Car Carrier Ressha, the tiny little cars can drive up a ramp onto the carriage. This attaches onto one arm to form TokkyuOhCarCarrier, which fights by using the tiny cars and with “Car Energy”.

The changer and robo will be available in the TokkyuOh and TokkyuChanger Set!

The Tokkyuger’s mecha is TokkyuOh! It’s component parts are Red Ressha, Blue Ressha, Yellow Ressha, Green Ressha, and Pink Ressha. There are 13 carriages in total, and when put into a line, it is 1.2m long, while the robot form stands at 275mm tall.
First up is the TokkyuBlaster, a weapon used by all the Tokkyugers. It has two modes; the ‘Uchimasu’ Mode, which is a gun; and the sword ‘Kirimasu’ Mode. This comes with the Scope Ressha, which can be loaded into the weapon to power it up or form a scope arm for TokkyoOh.

Below that is the TokkyuBuckle. This provides a space for the Rainbow Pass to fit, although what purpose this serves is unknown. It is not however the transformation item as some earlier reports suggested. This comes with Shield Ressha, which can form a Shield Arm for TokkyuOh.

This year’s team cannon is the RenketsuBazooka, a combination of each of the Tokkyuger’s individual weapons: the RailSlasher, the HomeTrigger, the TunnelAxe, the ShingouHammer (Signal), and the TekkyouClaw (bridge). When combined these form a 425mm long mini-track for the Energy Ressha to travel along, and then be shot out of. The Energy Ressha can combine with TokkyuOh, but doesn’t look to form anything noticeable.

Gaoranger DX Bonus Gaollery Gao Hunter Silver Chrome Edition

Posted on December 1, 2013 at 1:18 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

The wild ride is over, Power Rangers Wild Force/Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger month has come to an end with this final Gallery! And today we’re taking a look at a very special release, DX Gao Hutner Silver Chrome edition! This promo set was only available in mainland Asia as a part of a special giveaway. It swaps nearly all plastic colors for silver chrome aside from some key points which feature flat grey plastic instead. These releases were not packaged in a complete boxed set like normal Gao Hunter but were instead released only in individual boxes.

It should be noted that while released in mainland Asia in Gaoranger packaging this set is actually based on the Korean release of the figure. And Korean Gaoranger DX’s are actually made from an entirely separate 2nd production run made specifically for release in that region. As a result diecast parts were removed in most cases and the plastics were of a significantly lower quality. However this set still features diecast shoulders. And it also has nylon strands under Gaolligator’s front legs that are present in the US release which secure them if they come off their hinges. Making this set is a bit of a frankenstein’s monster. As may be evident in the photos, reflective chrome is hard to photograph properly :p

So thanks so much for sticking with us throughout this long month of tributes and photos! Next month we close the year with Power Rangers Megaforce & Super Megaforce! To celebrate we’re going to be bringing you complete galleries of the entire DX line from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger!

Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Morpher Gallery

Posted on November 29, 2013 at 9:47 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Tokunation.com continues coverage of the Super Megaforce toy line release with a gallery by photo staff member conundrum of the highly anticipated Deluxe Legendary Morpher!

The Morpher is based on the Mobirate from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger but is a completely new mold from Bandai of America. It has three ‘generic’ sounds that play when the unit is turned on, the keypad is pressed, and the Ranger Key is removed. The Morpher also makes two team related sounds per key when it is inserted and turned.

The Legendary Morpher weighs approximately 4.5 ounces with three button-cell batteries inserted. Folded, it is approximately 4.5in long x 2.25in wide x 2.25in thick. Open, it is approximately 8.5in long x 2.25in wide x 1.5in thick.

The Legendary Morpher is packaged with the Red Mighty Morphin Ranger key and the Red Super Megaforce Ranger key. Each key is approximately 2.5 inches tall in ranger form and 2.75 inches long in key form. Although considerably smaller than the Gokaiger keys, the Super Megaforce versions do have well sculpted details and well applied paint applications.

Is the Dx Legendary Morpher or Ranger Keys worth picking up? Check out the gallery after the jump and add your own thoughts to the discussion!

Gaoranger DX Gaolleries 15 of 15 Gao Hunter Blue Moon

Posted on November 29, 2013 at 8:26 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, Super Sentai

Just a few short days before our Power Rangers Wild Force tribute is over and “Gaollery” number 15 is here! Straight from Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger is this special repaint of DX Gao Hunter.

Gao Hunter Blue Moon appears only once in the course of Gaoranger. In Quest 40. This form was only accessible because Gao God sealed the Power Animals and Sky Island off from the Gaorangers leaving them helpless, as a test. Only Gao Silver was able to still call forth his Animals. And in the midst of losing a battle the other 5 Gaorangers boosted Hunters power by offering their own, creating Gao Hunter Blue Moon!

Blue Moon swaps all the green plastics of the standard release for blue, which effectively means that Gaolligator is the only figure that shows any differences, Hammerhead and Wolf are unchanged from their initial releases. Gao Hunter Justice is the only version of this mecha that’s capable of using this form in show as well. Though the DX toy can still assume Justice or Evil form.

AND be sure to tune in Sunday for a special bonus “Gaollery” to round out our month long tribute!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Fourze Effects Set

Posted on November 29, 2013 at 11:23 am by Chris under Kamen Rider

Photo staff member ryan brings us a look at the exclusive Kamen Rider Fourze Effects Set, originally available at the 2012 Tamashii Nations Event.

The Fourze Effects Set contains a drill effect, Elek States and Fire States themed Tamashii Act 4 stages bases, three Act 4 stage arms, a smoke effect base, 2 electricity effects, and a flame effect. I would have liked another fire effect of any kind, but what we get is great.

This Set was originally available at the 2012 Tamashii Nations event, and then later at the Tamashii Web Exclusive shop, I recent picked it up on Mandarake for a reasonable price, and am very pleased with it.

Gaoranger DX Gaolleries 14 of 15 Gao Ape/Black Gao Knight

Posted on November 26, 2013 at 9:32 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, Super Sentai

The hits just keep coming! Our tribute to Power Rangers Wild Force is almost over, but to wet your appetite before Thanksgiving here’s yet another gallery from Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger! Today we focus on another special release, DX Gao Ape!

Gao Ape is along the same lines as the Black Gao King set and at first glance you may assume it’s just a black repaint of Gao Gorilla. However it’s actually a repaint of Gao Kong and as such features the Gao Knight faceplate! So if you already own the Black Gao King, were able to get the rare TRU Gao Knight set with bonus Black Elephant, AND were able to get this Gao Ape figure via the mail in campaign then you can create what you see here, Black Gao Knight!

This figure was only available via a special mail in campaign through the Super Sentai Mecha Visual 1975-2002 Art Book. As such it’s an extremely limited release, and to cut costs it comes in a box that’s about 3 inches smaller than the normal Gorilla or Kong boxes. It also lacks the Gao Jewel figurine and Anchor Chain weapon as a result. And despite it’s nature as a repaint, Gao Ape is officially included in the master list of 100 Power Animals.
