David Yost and Walter Jones to Attend Denver Comic Con June 13-15, 2014

Posted on November 26, 2013 at 7:25 pm by Chris under Conventions, Other Conventions

If you haven’t heard of Denver Comic Con then it’s time you got yourself familiarized! The first show happened in 2012 and was met with great praise for being well-organized and a fun experience. Then in 2013, they were met with record number increases, so much that they had to turn people away from entering the show, as it was entirely sold out (we’re talking an increase from a few thousand to TENS of THOUSANDS with people getting in line for tickets at 1am)!

And now in 2014 they are finally dabbling in the genre of tokusatsu, announcing David Yost (the Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger) and Walter Jones (the original Mighty Morphin Black Ranger) as special guests. Both Yost and Jones are still relatively new to the convention circuits, only recently in the last year or so getting in to conventions.

Denver Comic Con will be held June 13th, 14th, and 15th at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver, Colorado. Tickets go on sale Cyber Monday (Monday, December 2nd).

Click here for more information on Denver Comic Con!

I will be at the show – will you?

Kamen Rider Gaim Lockseed Sakura Hurricane & Rose Attacker Video Review by baltmatrix

Posted on November 26, 2013 at 12:12 am by Chris under Kamen Rider

Our staff is absolutely in love with everything Kamen Rider Gaim related. In specific, we think that the Kamen Rider Gaim Arms Change toy line is one of the best designed and executed toy lines since S.H. Figuarts. The playability factor and the way each figure (and now motorcycles) is executed in design is simply amazing.

Our friend baltmatrix agrees. He’s gotten his hands on the first two bikes of the series, the Sakura Hurricane and the Rose Attacker, the bikes for Kamen Rider Gaim and Kamen Rider Baron respectively.

Check out this short awesome video below!

Don’t forget – subscribe to baltmatrix’s YouTube channel so you can stay up to date on all his video reviews. If you’re a fan of Transformers you NEED to check out his reviews on the latest Transformers Generations figures! Every toku-related review he does you will find here at TokuNation.com!

So! Who is getting these bikes with me? Just kidding. Mine are already on their way! Don’t say no, just live more!

Unlocking the Sounds of the Super Megaforce Legendary Morpher

Posted on November 22, 2013 at 9:13 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

When the Gosei Morpher was released this time last year, fans proved their diligence in unlocking things and managed to unlock nearly every single sound within the morpher in a matter of a day or two. The same can now be said for the Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Morpher, as fans have taken to cracking the “unlocking” feature that the keys provide.

TokuNation.com member Exanimus has been busy cracking the code to unlock different sounds. We will continue to update this post as he continues to discover things, but this is the list he has come up with thus far!

The list reads from the center of the morpher to back.
O = Open/Unpressed switch
X = Pressed Switch
Anything listed after a forward slash “/” is the secondary sound.
So far any past teams secondary sound is the Communicator Beep
Anything in quotations “example ” I can’t quite understand

In Hand Images of Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Megazord

Posted on November 22, 2013 at 5:27 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Once again, with permission and thanks to our friend and member Linear Ranger (please follow him on Twitter @LinearRanger) we have now put up all of the images that he shared with his brand new Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Megazord! The toy is the US adaption of the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger GokaihOh.

For starters, we have known since SDCC 2013 that the Legendary Megazord was going to be smaller and have a number of changes compared to it’s Super Sentai counterpart. At NYCC 2013 we saw that the combinations appeared to be different thanks to the back of the packaging that we exclusively had photos of here at TokuNation.com.

So here we go!

  • The Legendary Megazord is almost half the size of GokaiOh
  • The smaller individual zords that form the arms and legs do NOT open like their Sentai counterpart
  • The chest opens of the Sky Ship (Gokai Galleon), but unlike the Gokai Galleon, there is NO cannon inside
  • There are zord builder connector ports all over each leg, arm, and shoulder of the Legendary Megazord

All in all, the toy looks to be a fun addition to any one who enjoys the US side of the Megazords, especially the kids, however for those collectors hoping to replicate their favorite episodes from Gokaiger, they may want to stick to the higher priced GokaiOh. As is normal, you pay more to get more.

The fun thing we have to look forward to is what other combinations are going to release, as the back of the box shows an upcoming Zeo combination that looks to be US-exclusive.

Are you going to get on the Sky Ship Zord and become Legendary? Let us know!

Again – these images are posted with permission from Linear Ranger. Please take a moment and follow him @LinearRanger on Twitter!

In Hand Images of Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Morpher and Ranger Keys

Posted on November 22, 2013 at 2:20 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

With special thanks and permission from our friend and member Linear Ranger (follow him on Twitter @LinearRanger), we’re sharing the images he has taken of the recently released Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Morpher!

This item is the US adaption of the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger Mobirate, the transformation device that changes our heroes in to past iterations of themselves. Some known sounds and other facts:

  • When using the “Super Megaforce Red Ranger” key, the morpher says “Super Megaforce Red”
  • When using the “Super Megaforce Red Ranger” key a second time, the morpher says “Summon Sky Ship!”
  • When using the “Mighty Morphin Red Ranger” key, the morpher says “Mighty Morphin”
  • When using the “Mighty Morphin Red Ranger” key a second time, the morpher makes the classic communicator beeping sound
  • The “Super Megaforce Red Ranger” key that comes with the Legendary Megazord is translucent red, giving it a slight look of “metallic”
  • The keypad, save for the number “1”, is all the same button
  • The morpher does have Gokaiger Mobirate sounds
  • Yes, the phone closes (see the images)

We will continue to post updates as they come. If you have questions, you can post them here or directly ask @LinearRanger on Twitter, just be mindful that he’s getting a TON of questions.

So are you going Legendary and getting a morpher?

NECA Pacific Rim Series 2 Leatherback Gallery

Posted on November 20, 2013 at 8:05 pm by Chris under General Tokusatsu News

In Pacific Rim, the Kaiju Leatherback is a massive category IV sized creature that wreaks havoc on the heroic Jaegers and the whole of Hong Kong.

The designers at NECA accurately capture the look and bulk of Leatherback with the figure released in Series 2 of their Pacific Rim line.

The figure stands at approximately 8 inches with it’s ‘hunched’ posture and has a surprising 24 points of articulation. This includes individually moving claws, ankles, and a hinged jaw. Leatherback weighs in at a ridiculous 1 pound, 6.5 ounces, over 3 times the weight of Gipsy Danger. Despite the weight and size of each arm, they can still be posed in a variety of ways (given your figure has tight joints).

Power Rangers Super Megaforce Toys – Coming VERY Soon!

Posted on November 20, 2013 at 1:51 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

The man who stayed on top of everything toy related for Power Rangers Super Megaforce, our friend raz (follow him on Twitter @razzle1337), has been hounding Toys’R’Us computers for weeks. He delivered the controversial list of items a few weeks back, and noted there was a listing for Super Megaforce Black Friday Pallet.

According to a tweet of his this afternoon, that pallet has arrived in the Southern California and Texas distribution centers for Toys’R’Us, with a few scattered throughout the rest of the country (except the east coast, which shows a count of negative 60?). The online website is also apparently showing some stock of Legendary Megazords, but at this time, cannot be located on the site itself (this information comes from stock searches at Toys’R’Us computers). Most stores have put in orders for Legendary Morphers, Battle Gear, and 6.5″ Figures.

We could be anywhere from days to a week or two away from the retail release of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, which is the US adaption of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, which features the Power Rangers turning in to all previous Power Rangers to defeat the bad guys.

Are you excited yet? Stay tuned for more details!
