Bandai of America Hints at Legacy Titanus in Vangelus.ca Interview

Posted on October 20, 2013 at 11:23 am by Chris under New York Comic Con

If you remember, our own administrator Sentai Tamashii was able to sit down and interview the folks with Bandai of America at this year’s NYCC. If you haven’t read the TWO interviews we got to do, you can find them here:

Click here for the initial interview!
Click here for the follow-up interview!

Friend to the site, board member, and Internet Personality Vangelus, also sat down with Greg Mitchell (marketing) from Bandai of America and talked about Power Rangers and other Bandai properties. In the interview, they “hypothetically” discuss the “third part of the original Megazord that combined with all three” and that they’re “looking in to it”. That would be Titanus the carrier-zord, who when combined with the Megazord and Dragonzord became the Ultrazord.

Check out Vangelus‘ interview with Bandai of America below!

Also be sure to check out his website Vangelus.ca for some amazing toy reviews and his weekly WTF@TFW2005 podcast about Transformers!

Additional Interview With Bandai Of America at NYCC 2013

Posted on October 13, 2013 at 11:16 am by Den-O under New York Comic Con

Once again our very own administrator Sentai Tamashii has sat down with Bandai Of America reps to discuss the upcoming Power Rangers Super Megaforce toyline!

Super Megaforce Ranger figures
will be divided into 4″ and 5″ categories. 4″ figures will feature less articulation and paint apps compared to the 5″ figures.

Legendary Zords and Vehicles
All additional vehicles/zords that can combine with the Legendary Megazord will come with a Ranger Key specific to the series the vehicle represents. The other vehicles shown to be able to combine with the Legendary Megazord on display will have uniform names. “Insert series name” Cycle. So for the bikes on display currently they’d be the Lightspeed Rescue Cycle and the Time Force Cycle. The Zeo vehicle seen on display is called the Red Battlezord Car. And the 2 additional robots seen on display in front of the Legendary Megazord are called Exozords and can accommodate Ranger figures to pilot them.

Ranger Keys
will initially be sold with other toys in the line. They will later be sold in a 3-Pack format but there are currently NO PLANS to offer the keys in full ranger team sets. Additionally the flip gimmick is not activated by any sort of button at all. You push the edge of the key and it flips automatically. The Wild Force Red Lion Zord also features a ranger key gimmick. One can be inserted behind it’s head but there are no electronics present for it to activate. Only an action feature.

And this rounds out our last interview with BOA at NYCC 2013! On behalf of the entire community we’d like to thank them for sitting down to take the time to have a discussion with Sentai Tamashii! They were kind enough to take a look at our little operation here and have expressed an interest in working with us in the future to promote even better Power Rangers products! We’re happy to help in any way we can!

TokuNation.com Interview with Bandai of America at NYCC 2013

Posted on October 11, 2013 at 1:48 pm by Chris under New York Comic Con

Our administrator Sentai Tamashii sat down with Brehan Maul of Bandai of America who was kind enough to answer a variety of questions that we submitted from you, our users. So let’s dive straight in to them, shall we?

Regarding the Legendary Morpher[/u]
For starters – yes, the Legendary Morpher does open and close clam-shell like, just like the show. Also, the keypad is fully functional. Each Ranger Key is unique, and will unlock a unique sound when used. Also, when you turn certain keys in immediate sequence (example: Super Megaforce Red, then Blue, then Green, then Yellow, then Pink) you will unlock a special sound. There will be many special combinations that will be leaked after release. It was not stated outright, but it was implied that the Legendary Morpher has a larger sound-bank than the Gokaiger Mobirate.

Regarding Ranger Keys[/u]
While they couldn’t come right out and say if we would be getting a Ranger Key of any of the exclusive Power Rangers (Titanium, Elephant, Shark, Bat), it was stated that yes, Super Megaforce will have USA exclusive Ranger Keys that Japan did not get. Again, each key is unique and will unlock a special sound in the Legendary Morpher. Also, each key has a graphic that you can scan with an upcoming app that will then unlock that Power Ranger in the app.

Regarding Legacy items for Collectors[/u]
For starters, if you thought the Legacy Dragon Dagger looked impressive, check out this fact – the sample is all plastic! The final release will not be all plastic, though they did state that for safety reasons, the blade of the dagger will NOT be diecast metal. And for those wondering – the Legacy Dragon Dagger and Legacy Dragonzord are NOT the final Legacy items. There are more planned. Bandai of America would like to move on to series other than Mighty Morphin but nothing is planned at this time. So the future Legacy items will continue to be Mighty Morphin themed.

Regarding the Power Rangers Action Card Game[/u]
The Power Rangers ACG will continue through Super Megaforce.

Again, a huge thank you to Brehan Maul from Bandai of America for taking the time to not only answer our questions, but to GET answers he didn’t have, as well as putting up with some of Sentai Tamashii’s technical difficulties. We will have a video of this interview after the convention is over.

So what do you think? We will do a quick run-by follow up on Sunday, so if we missed anything dire (they can’t always comment on things because marketing is different than development and some things aren’t finalized) please feel free to post it here.

Exciting year ahead of us!

Brief Details From TokuNation.com Interview with Tamashii Nations at NYCC 2013

Posted on October 11, 2013 at 12:46 pm by Chris under New York Comic Con

We have boots on the ground at this year’s New York Comic Con, and our man in the trenches is none other than our administrator Sentai Tamashii! The folks at Tamashii Nations were kind enough to take some time out of their incredibly busy schedule at the show to answer some of our, and YOUR, questions about things!

We will have the entire interview up later (as it was recorded), but we thought we’d share a few tidbits that we were given regarding some of the answers we were given.

Regarding Items Currently in Development[/u]
Unfortunately, answers can’t be given to any questions for items that may be in development, so any questions like, “Will we get this?” are not able to be answered.

Regarding Items Released in Japan[/u]
Any item that was released in Japan is fair-game to be released in the United States. Any items that was released as an exclusive in Japan is fair-game to have a mass release in the United States.

Regarding S.H. Figuarts of Super Megaforce (aka Gokaiger)[/u]
They are looking at releasing those figures in 2014. When asked if they would come with the Darwin accessory, we were told that if it was packaged with the figure, it will probably get release. We mentioned our Red, Green, and Blue had their Darwin’s separately packed, and Bluefin then proposed this. If you want the Darwins released with Super Megaforce/Gokaiger S.H. Figuarts, let them know! If the demand is there, they’ll include them.

Regarding Items From Other Properties (Ultraman, Pacific Rim, Macross[/u]
The good news is that the litigation is over for Ultraman and figures can and will be released celebrating that series. There have been talks with the license division of Pacific Rim and Tamashii Nations is interested in doing some figures as it is right up their alley – however anything that could be released would not be until 2015 at the earliest, as 2014 has a heavy focus on Aliens and Predator. As for Macross? “Probably not in my lifetime.” Sorry Macross fans.

Regarding Expanding their Market in the US[/u]
They want to expand but not too quickly. They are very happy with their premium outlets such as BigBadToyStore.com and ImageAnime.com, and want to continue to give them their full support. However you will begin to see product showing up in Hastings stores, and in time, they’d like to continue to expand from that.

Regarding the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S.H. Figuarts Combined Power Blaster[/u]
The Power Blaster is a combined feature. However, the parts to combine it will be included with the Black Ranger, Blue Ranger, and Yellow Ranger. The bow accessories for the blaster will NOT be with the Pink Ranger, as the product was too far along in development to try and go back and add it. So you will have bow parts included with the Blue Ranger and Yellow Ranger, where then all the parts will combine with the items in the Black Ranger release.

Regarding a Lord Zedd S.H. Figuart[/u]
The good news? They are developing a Lord Zedd S.H. Figuart! The bad news? They have no idea if he’ll be released. You should continue to express your demand for this item. They are also looking at moving in to the FiguartsZero brand for future villain releases. The biggest sticking point here is that the fans need to continue to speak up with what they want – they listen to fans, they try to give fans what they want – so voice up and let your demands be known!

Regarding S.H. Figuarts of Other Power Rangers Series[/u]
All the polling they’ve done seems to indicate that there is no clear favorite other than Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. So they want the fans to come on their Facebook and to speak up on Twitter about what series YOU want them to start working on, because they’re willing and ready to move away from the Mighty Morphin and start working on other series.

Special thanks to Adam as well as one of his associates with Tamashii Nations for his time and we hope for an incredibly successful show for the folks at Tamashii Nations! We will have a video of this interview after the convention.

Back of the Box Super Megaforce Pictures from NYCC 2013

Posted on October 10, 2013 at 6:18 pm by Chris under New York Comic Con

The Power Rangers Super Megaforce toys were revealed today and it only raised MORE questions about how these toys are going to work compared to their Bandai of Japan counterparts. With these back of the box pictures, we know!

– The “skateboard/hoverboard” toys will combine with the Legendary Megazord
– The “motorcycle” toys will combine with the Legendary Megazoard
– By collecting all five Super Megaforce keys, you can unlock the Super Megaforce theme song on the Legendary Morpher
– There are NO female Ranger Keys shown on the back of any of the Super Megaforce packaging, only male Ranger Keys and colors
(EDIT: Ninja Storm Blue is there, and the lighter shade makes us think it’s Tori and not Blake)

Check out the images in the thread!
