ICYMI – New Power Rangers Theme Debuts in Super Ninja Steel

Posted on February 25, 2018 at 11:00 am by Chris under Power Rangers

Did you hear that? If you weren’t listening closely you might have missed it. In episode 04 of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, the episode titled “Making Waves“, a new Power Rangers theme, a rendition of the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song, had a debut. In the final battle with the monster of the week, the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel – aboard a new Megazord – launched their final attack to destroy the monster. Playing in the background was a new theme song. We have uploaded it to YouTube for your listening pleasure – check it out below.

Power Rangers Ninja Steel was known to use many different renditions of the Power Rangers theme song, having utilized versions of both Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Dino Charge. This new rendition begins using the same track as Power Rangers Samurai, but quickly has new vocals and a new rendition of the classic guitar backtrack from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song. The chorus goes:

Go Go Power Rangers!
Go Go Power Rangers!
Go Go Power Rangers, All Together Power Rangers!

The previous series under Saban Brands have had choruses that do the following:

Go Go Power Rangers!
(Don’t you ever stop – Dino Charge)
Go Go Power Rangers!
(You will rise up to the top – Dino Charge)
– Rangers Together, Samurai Forever! (Power Rangers Samurai)
– Rangers Forever, Megaforce! All Together! (Power Rangers Megaforce)
– Rangers Forever, Dino Charge! All Together! (Power Rangers Dino Charge)

So Ranger Nation what do you think? Is it a cool throwback? Sound off in our episode discussion!

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner – “We Believe Power Rangers Can Be Far Bigger in Our Hands”

Posted on February 21, 2018 at 8:15 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, Toy Fair

With Toy Fair New York 2018 winding to a close, Fortune.com sat down with Brian Goldner, the CEO of Hasbro Inc., and spoke regarding the acquisition of the master toy license of the Power Rangers brand. Speaking with Susie Gharib of Fortune.com, Brian Goldner had this to say about the Power Rangers brand:

“It’s a very young-skewing brand so that the youngest consumer really loves that story, that fun kitsch humor that comes along with that action and adventure of Power Rangers. And then today there’s all these kids who are now adults, are fans of the brand and we think there’s a great opportunity in that fan economy to talk to the Power Ranger fan and give them the products they’re looking for.”

Saban Brands, the parent company of Power Rangers, recently announced both their separation from Bandai America, the toy company that has produced Power Rangers toys for the last 25 years, and subsequently announced their new partnership with Hasbro.

Brian Goldner finishes by saying “We think this brand can be far bigger in our hands over time than it has been in the past.” Join in your thoughts and expectations in our on-going discussion regarding the acquisition of the Power Rangers toy line by Hasbro.

Rumor – Power Rangers to Announce Partnership with Hasbro

Posted on February 15, 2018 at 5:25 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

We learned two days ago through sources at this year’s New York Toy Fair that the Power Rangers toy license was going to be up for grabs and would be leaving Bandai America after 25 years. We cannot 100% confirm this as fact but we have from multiple sources that the Power Rangers license is now part of Hasbro, or at the very least, will be soon.

Just a few minutes ago, Saban Brands announced that Bandai America will no longer be part of the Power Rangers franchise after April of 2019. Because of that announcement we’ve chosen to move forward with posting these rumors.

We will have more information on this as we move forward.

Power Rangers and Bandai America Part Ways

Posted on February 15, 2018 at 5:18 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Strap in folks, this one is big.

It was announced in a short press release that Bandai America is no longer going to be the partner for Saban Brands for the Power Rangers toy franchise. The press release is below.

After a successful 25-year partnership building the iconic action franchise, Power Rangers, Saban Brands and Bandai have mutually agreed not to renew their global Power Rangers master toy license agreement, effective April 2019. Bandai will continue to support Power Rangers, including the 2018 commemoration of the Power Rangers 25th anniversary and the current season, Super Ninja Steel. In addition, Bandai, through its partnership with Toei Company Ltd., will continue to exploit toy rights for the Super Sentai series, which has enjoyed over 40 years of success, in Japan and select other Asian territories.

We have more details and will announce them shortly.

New Power Rangers Logo Surfaces

Posted on February 14, 2018 at 11:28 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Interesting bit of news late tonight – a new logo for Power Rangers has been shared on the Saban Brands Vimeo page. The video shows the logo being used now for “Power Rangers” being transformed in to this new logo that is both similar to the movie logo but different.

As we were typing this story the video has been taken down. However, we do have a copy of the video and of course have copied the screen shot of the logo. Check it out!

Check out the animation of the new #PowerRangers logo. Thanks @nickandmore for finding it and sharing it. pic.twitter.com/ylCNn8AmAI

Power Rangers Stays on Nickelodeon Through 2021

Posted on February 12, 2018 at 12:38 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

It has been announced today via a press release that Saban Brands has reached an agreement with Nickelodeon to keep our spandex heroes on the kid’s network for another two years past the finale of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel. The agreement should, if our assumptions are correct, carry the brand for the next series after Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, which is heavily favored to be an adaptation of Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, which just finished airing in Japan.

While some fans will be skeptical at the continued partnership between Saban Brands and Nickelodeon – many fans blame the drop in the show’s quality on rumored Nickelodeon mandates – it at least guarantees that Power Rangers will live to see it’s 26th and 27th season.

What this means now, for the rest of us, is that a release of information on the 26th season of Power Rangers is imminent. Will we be flying through space with an Uchu Sentai Kyuranger adaptation? Or will we be calling upon animals, in some way shape or form, with an adaptation of Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger? Stay tuned!

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Power Rangers. In celebration of this historic milestone for the Power Rangers, Saban Brands in partnership with Bandai America, nWay, BOOM! Studios, and Imaginext, plan to reveal their Top 25 for the 25th, a new segment that will celebrate the Top 25 items releasing this year for the 25th Anniversary of the Power Rangers.

Also announced today is that the Blue Ranger, Black Ranger, and Yellow Ranger will be available to purchase this fall.
