Ratings for Kamen Rider Wizard Episode 03 and Go-Busters Mission 30

Posted on September 19, 2012 at 12:55 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, Super Sentai

This week Tokunation takes another look at the ratings for Kamen Rider Wizard and Tokumei Sentai Gobsuters! Gobusters has limped it’s way along up until recently when it’s last several episodes received a decent ratings boost, most likely because of the shift in plot and thanks to the premiere of Kamen Rider Wizard.

Now it seems that after a decent showing the past 2 weeks that Gobusters has dropped once again to 4.6%. That’s significantly down from last weeks 5.2% ratings. With Mission 30 having tied up the majority of loose plot threads (aside from a certain sleeping beauty ;) ) and a crossover with Gavan Type G coming up, it’s anyone’s guess as to how things could change. Kamen Rider Wizard on the other hand scored a 6.4% rating which is also down from it’s previous 2 episodes. But this series is still quite early in so we can expect a bit more fluctuation from it.

As Gobusters’ story and pacing improves along with it’s catchy new theme song and Wizard begins to take its’ place in the pantheon of riders we can expect to see these numbers change quite a bit. Will Tokumei Sentai Gobuster become the worst rated sentai in history? Will Kamen Rider Wizard push forward and keep above the low ratings suffered by Fourze? Stay tuned to Tokunation.com to find out!

Power Rangers Samurai Gigazord

Posted on September 18, 2012 at 5:12 pm by Shin Densetsu under Power Rangers

The new Samurai Gigazord has been released. This toy was sighted both at Toys R Us and at Walmart. Unlike the larger Samurai Megazord and auxillary zords, this smaller Gigazord cannot break down into individual zord components. However, what it can do is combine with the other zords! For example, it can combine with the following:

  • Samurai Megazord
  • Clawzord
  • Bull Megazord
There is a generous amount of attachment pegs on the limbs. Though this Gigazord does not break down, it can transform into what is advertised as a “spaceship” on the package. Check out images of the new Gigazord in package after the jump.

Retrofire Claw Battlezord

Posted on September 18, 2012 at 5:00 pm by Shin Densetsu under Power Rangers

The Toys R Us Exclusive Power Rangers Retrofire line gains a new addition with the Retrofire Claw Battlezord. Admittedly, it was difficult to see if there is elbow articulation, and if so, what kind of joints were used, as the elbows are bent in package. Here’s the articulation that could be seen:

  • Swivel neck
  • Ball jointed shoulders
  • Ball jointed hips
  • Hinged knees
There might be waist articulation, and maybe elbow swivels, but again, hard to say(I didn’t buy this figure). Check out images of the package, front and back after the jump.

Power Rangers Super Samurai Lionzord And Dragonzord With Mega Ranger Kits

Posted on September 18, 2012 at 4:55 pm by Shin Densetsu under Power Rangers

Do you enjoy putting plastic models(plamo) together? Sure we’ve seen candy kits of Sentai mecha before, but what we have here today is something somewhat different. Out now at Toys R Us stores by Bandai America(and possibly designed by Tsuyoshi Nonaka of PLEX) are kits for:

  • Dragonzord With Mega Ranger Water
  • Lionzord With Mega Ranger Fire
The zords feature a build requiring snapping parts together, and no need for glue nor paint. In addition each zord has 3 modes:
  • Emblem(origami)
  • Animal
  • Vehicle(motorcycle for Blue Ranger, flying vehicle for Red Ranger)
The animal modes for each zord are articulated as well. In addition, the Mega Ranger figures included are in kit form! When completed, each Mega Ranger figure is fully articulated(like the mainline figures). Included with each Mega Ranger is a black sword. Price for these sets is $18.99 each. Check them out after the jump!

Tsuyoshi Nonaka Of PLEX At Pacific Media Expo

Posted on September 18, 2012 at 1:40 am by Shin Densetsu under General Tokusatsu News

According to a recent post on Facebook, Tsuyoshi Nonaka of PLEX will be in attendance at the Pacific Media Expo(PMX)! PMX will be held from November 9-11 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport. In addition to being part of PLEX(which designs Super Sentai toys!), Nonaka is also an accomplished animator, having worked on such series as Shin Mazinger Z! Here is more info from PMX:

“His masterpieces are Toei “Metal Hero Series” and “Super Sentai Series”. (a.k.a Power Rangers) It is needless to say that Tsuyoshi is known as the original designer of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (a.k.a Kyoryu Sentai Zyu-Ranger) in Japan as well as several Kamen Rider series. In addition, he has also created a successful toy series-brand for adults in Japan called “Chogokin-Damashii (a.k.a Soul of Chogokin) and recreated his childhood favorite character Mazinger Z (a.k.a Tranzor Z) as part of collectible die-cast Robot toy series towards the collector, high-end market which are still growing today.

This year, he has shifted his creative base from Asia to North America where he has become the head of “PLEX International Design, US division” working on Power Rangers, Ben 10 and Thunder Cats toy designs for Bandai America Inc. (Cypress CA). The Classic Lion-O (Thunder Cats) figure distributed at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 was designed by him.”

This year marks the 2nd time that Nonaka will be in attendance at PMX. He will be taking part in an autograph session and focus panel. What could he be working on for the 20th anniversary of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers? ….

No Pink Spandex interviews Amy Jo Johnson And Dan’s Toku Rants Interviews Rhett Fishe

Posted on September 17, 2012 at 5:36 pm by Shin Densetsu under Power Rangers

The popular podcast No Pink Spandex has recently been interviewing several veteran actors from various “Power Rangers” shows, including

  • Amy Jo Johnson, the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger
  • Jason Faust, the Time Force Red Rangers
In addition Dan’s Toku Rants has interviewed Rhett Fisher, the Titanium Ranger from Power Rangers Light Speed Rescue!

These interviews provide several interesting insights into the process of filming and production, definitely worth a listen for all Ranger fans. Ever wonder why Thuy, Walter, and Austin(the original Yellow, Black and Red Rangers respectively) left the cast of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? How Amy had a chance encounter which led to her staying in California for MMPR rather than moving back to New York? Also why she ended up leaving the show? How about Rhett’s musical career? Check out the podcasts to find out more about the cast’s lives during and after their tenure on Power Rangers!

Thanks to musicfighter and Kickback for the heads up!

Power Rangers Megaforce – Gosei and Tensou to be new characters?

Posted on September 17, 2012 at 6:47 am by ZeoRangerV under Power Rangers

Power Rangers news blog Samurai Cast has updated with a new post collating all the information we know so far about the 20th anniversary Power Rangers Megaforce series, including some new information concerning the characters of Gosei and Tensou.

While these characters were expected to be the American versions of Goseiger’s Master Head and Datas, Samurai Cast’s sources are reporting that these two will in fact be brand new characters made especially for the series.

Also included in the post are the names for characters that are to be brought over from Goseiger. In case you haven’t heard them yet – Gosei Knight will be Robo Knight, while the Warstar aliens Monsu Doreiku, Buredoran and Dereputa will be named Admiral Malkor, Vrak and Creepox respectively. The grunts for the series are named Loogies.

We’ll keep you updated when there is official confirmation of this news but in the meantime discuss your thoughts after the jump!
