Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner – “We Believe Power Rangers Can Be Far Bigger in Our Hands”

Posted on February 21, 2018 at 8:15 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, Toy Fair

With Toy Fair New York 2018 winding to a close, Fortune.com sat down with Brian Goldner, the CEO of Hasbro Inc., and spoke regarding the acquisition of the master toy license of the Power Rangers brand. Speaking with Susie Gharib of Fortune.com, Brian Goldner had this to say about the Power Rangers brand:

“It’s a very young-skewing brand so that the youngest consumer really loves that story, that fun kitsch humor that comes along with that action and adventure of Power Rangers. And then today there’s all these kids who are now adults, are fans of the brand and we think there’s a great opportunity in that fan economy to talk to the Power Ranger fan and give them the products they’re looking for.”

Saban Brands, the parent company of Power Rangers, recently announced both their separation from Bandai America, the toy company that has produced Power Rangers toys for the last 25 years, and subsequently announced their new partnership with Hasbro.

Brian Goldner finishes by saying “We think this brand can be far bigger in our hands over time than it has been in the past.” Join in your thoughts and expectations in our on-going discussion regarding the acquisition of the Power Rangers toy line by Hasbro.

Toy Fair 2018 – Imaginext Power Rangers

Posted on February 19, 2018 at 10:00 am by Chris under Power Rangers, Toy Fair

Our coverage of Toy Fair 2018 continues with a look at the offerings for Imaginext Power Rangers. Unfortunately there was not much to be seen from the folks at Imaginext. On display was a brand new repaint of the Megazord playset in a new color scheme – black and red – with no release information available. Shown with it was a Mighty Morphin Red Ranger with black highlights and a repainted Rita Repulsa figure in purple and blue. Two power coins and a purely red staff accompanied as accessories.

What is the future of Imaginext Power Rangers with the master toy license going to Hasbro? We’re not quite sure. Hasbro has it’s own preschool aged faction of toys under the PlaySkool banner. We’ll update you with any further information regarding the future of Imaginext Power Rangers.

Rumor – Power Rangers to Announce Partnership with Hasbro

Posted on February 15, 2018 at 5:25 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

We learned two days ago through sources at this year’s New York Toy Fair that the Power Rangers toy license was going to be up for grabs and would be leaving Bandai America after 25 years. We cannot 100% confirm this as fact but we have from multiple sources that the Power Rangers license is now part of Hasbro, or at the very least, will be soon.

Just a few minutes ago, Saban Brands announced that Bandai America will no longer be part of the Power Rangers franchise after April of 2019. Because of that announcement we’ve chosen to move forward with posting these rumors.

We will have more information on this as we move forward.

Power Rangers and Bandai America Part Ways

Posted on February 15, 2018 at 5:18 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Strap in folks, this one is big.

It was announced in a short press release that Bandai America is no longer going to be the partner for Saban Brands for the Power Rangers toy franchise. The press release is below.

After a successful 25-year partnership building the iconic action franchise, Power Rangers, Saban Brands and Bandai have mutually agreed not to renew their global Power Rangers master toy license agreement, effective April 2019. Bandai will continue to support Power Rangers, including the 2018 commemoration of the Power Rangers 25th anniversary and the current season, Super Ninja Steel. In addition, Bandai, through its partnership with Toei Company Ltd., will continue to exploit toy rights for the Super Sentai series, which has enjoyed over 40 years of success, in Japan and select other Asian territories.

We have more details and will announce them shortly.

New Power Rangers Logo Surfaces

Posted on February 14, 2018 at 11:28 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Interesting bit of news late tonight – a new logo for Power Rangers has been shared on the Saban Brands Vimeo page. The video shows the logo being used now for “Power Rangers” being transformed in to this new logo that is both similar to the movie logo but different.

As we were typing this story the video has been taken down. However, we do have a copy of the video and of course have copied the screen shot of the logo. Check it out!

Check out the animation of the new #PowerRangers logo. Thanks @nickandmore for finding it and sharing it. pic.twitter.com/ylCNn8AmAI
