S.H. Figuarts Hakaider Squad Official Images

Posted on February 20, 2015 at 5:46 am by ZeoRangerV under General Tokusatsu News

After recently being teased in a Bandai Tamashii Nations blog entry, full release details for the S.H. Figuarts Hakaider Squad have been revealed! Made up of Red Hakaider, Blue Hakaider and Silver Hakaider, these three act as Gill Hakaider’s henchmen in the opening section of Kikaider 01.

As many expected the figures will be coming as part of a 3-pack, however the set will also be a ToeiHero.net exclusive. Each figure will come with their own unique weapon, along with presumably an array of additional hands.

Costing a total of 16,200 yen, preorders will be open until the 30th April with the set shipping out to collectors in September.

Juukou B-Fighter S.H. Figuarts Blue Beet Gallery

Posted on February 16, 2015 at 9:35 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Metal Heroes

Juukou!

We’re back! Did you miss us? After our New York Toy Fair coverage we thought it was time to give the citizens of TokuNation a treat. Today we’re taking a look at a brand new Tamashii Web Exclusive release familiar to both Western & Japanese tokusatsu fans alike. S.H. Figuarts Blue Beet from Juukou B-Fighter! And 90’s Saban Era fans will undoubtedly recognize this figure as the Blue Stinger Beetleborg from Big Bad Beetleborgs!

Blue Beet is one of the more intricately detailed Figuarts you’ll own for sure. An incredible representation of an elaborate suit, Blue beet really captures the presence of his on screen counterpart. Some articulation issues not withstanding, this figure nails the look. Not to mention a bevy of really well done accessories too. Blue Beet comes with the standard side arm of the B-Fighters the Input Magnum,  3 sets of extra hands, as well as his signature Stinger Blade. Of course it also includes parts necessary to transform it into the Stinger Drill too!

Honestly S.H. Figuarts Blue Beet is a fantastic figure. While I’m not impressed with the articulation given to him it’s certainly one of the better looking figuarts I own. I’m even more excited for the upcoming G-Stag, Reddle, & Black Beet than I was before. If you want to be as well then I suggest checking out our complete 80 image gallery of Blue Beet by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation forums” at the bottom of this post!

S.H. Figuarts Hakaider Squad Teased

Posted on February 13, 2015 at 10:52 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News

1972’s classic tokusatsu franchise Kikaider has been getting a lot of love lately, and it looks like it’s potentially getting 3 more doses of it soon! With S.H. Figuarts Kikaider 01 & Gil Hakaider about to be released is it’s no surprise that Bandai has chosen today to tease the release of the S.H. Figuarts Hakaider Squad!

The Hakaider Squad from Kikaider 01 is composed of 3 similar Hakaider model cyborgs, each with a different color designation; Red Blue & Silver. Created from the remains of other DARK scientists these 3 in addition to Gil Hakaider formed the Squad. In the 01 TV series each had their own unique monster form, as well as the ability to combine into one gigantic cyborg known as Gattaider.

With possibly 3 more Hakaider’s coming from Bandai (a 3-pack perhaps?) we wonder what next era in the Kikaider franchise Bandai will spotlight. We’ll keep you informed as more updates become available!

S.I.C Kikaider Teaser

Posted on January 29, 2015 at 6:06 pm by Kiryu under General Tokusatsu News

In the last drop of Figure Oh Magazine scans, it was revealed that a brand new take on S.I.C Kikaider and Hakaider were both in the works, with official line art having been previewed.

S.I.C. Kikaider at least might be coming out sooner than we think with a new Bandai teaser image having been released. Giving us a much clearer look at what the finished design should end up looking like. At the moment, there’s not that much info to go on but stay tuned and we’ll keep you up to date as more becomes available.

S.I.C. Kikaider, Hakaider and Kamen Rider Birth Revealed?

Posted on January 21, 2015 at 11:18 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News, Kamen Rider

Thanks to the latest round of magazine scans now online we have a quick look at some future Super Imaginative Chogokin releases!

We now have some concept art for SIC designs based on the tokusatsu hero Kikaider and his enemy, the evil Hakaider! Sadly, no details relating to price or release dates are available at this time.

In addition we have a closer look at SIC Kamen Rider Birth and his backup Rider, Proto-Birth. Previous teaser images suggested that Birth’s release would merely be a ZERO-type (meaning no articulation) but this recent image shows Birth’s armor & weapons- which may imply a fully functional release.

Stay tuned to TokuNation for further details on these exciting new releases!

Gridman Anime Short Online!

Posted on January 17, 2015 at 9:08 pm by Kiryu under General Tokusatsu News

Denkou Choujin Gridman returns after almost 20 years in the form of an animated short that debuted at the Animator Expo, and that very short can now be viewed online both at the convention’s website and on Youtube! North American readers will most likely recognize this Ultraman esque hero as Servo from Super Human Samurai Cybersquad.

But the most interesting aspect about this short is that this is the first time we see Gridman Sigma, from a proposed sequel series that never made it past the concept art phase, keep watching till the end of the short where an adult Takeshi Todo(whom would’ve been Sigma’s partner) shouts “Access Flash!” And transforms into the hero.

Gridman anime short announced for Animator Expo

Posted on January 12, 2015 at 1:19 pm by ZeoRangerV under General Tokusatsu News

Tsubaraya‘s Denkou Choujin Gridman (which was adapted into Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad in the West) is set to return in the form of a one-off anime short, as part of Japan Animator Expo – a project of weekly anime shorts spearheaded by Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara and media company Dwango.

The short, entitled “Denkou Choujin Gridman: Boys invent Great Hero” was animated by popular studio Trigger (most notable for the recent Kill la Kill) and directed by Akira Amemiya – director of Trigger’s Inferno Cop and forthcoming Ninja Slayer series.

The project will see a total of 30 planned shorts air weekly, ranging from anime shorts to promotional and music videos. While these will be streamed for free via Niconico, there are currently no plans for any of them to receive a commercial release.

Niconico have already released a 13 second teaser of the short, however it doesn’t give away anything other than the title. Are you excited for the return of Gridman? Sound off after the jump!

Toei’s Spider-Man & Leopardon Join Spider-Verse!

Posted on January 7, 2015 at 11:59 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News

If you haven’t been following Marvel’s current run of Amazing Spider-Man then now may be the time. Though we wouldn’t typically cover this kind of thing today’s latest issue, Amazing Spider-Man #12 featured the return of 2 very familiar faces for the tokusatsu community. Making his first official appearance since his 1979 TV Series is Toei’s Spider-Man! And along for the ride is his faithful transforming mecha Marveler/Leopardon!

The currently ongoing Spider-verse storyline has seen the entire Marvel Multiverse assaulted by the Morlun family of killers. They’ve been hopping between dimensions plotting to and in some cases succeeding in murdering various Spider-heroes. Now a ragtag team of the remaining spiders with the Earth-616 Peter Parker at the lead are trying desperately to win the war. Just in time to lend a helping hand (and maybe a gigantic sword?!) Spider-man & Leopardon enter the fray! Though it’s only briefly seen Leopardon is soundly defeated with Spider-Man AKA Takuya Yamashiro (or Supaidaman) escaping with his brothers and sisters from other worlds.

A fun and interesting nod to the the beloved 1978-1979 series. Most likely a one-off instance, but personally I’d love to see more of this duo in official Marvel comics of this nature.
