This story goes to show that Power Rangers is indeed a worldwide phenomenon!

JapanExpo is the largest Japanese pop-culture convention of its kind. It was held in Paris, France earlier this month. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers, over one-hundred individuals gathered for a “flash mob” of Power Rangers using “morphsuits” purchased from MorphSuits.com. They battled Puddies at Place du Trocadero, and invited fans to join in a choreographed battle.

Feast your eyes on TV spot 6:

That’s not all, check out the newest Pacific Rim trailer, “At The Edge”:

Also for those of you who intend to watch Pacific Rim in IMAX, check out an IMAX poster designed by Sergio Grisanti! The poster was revealed by Hero Complex. Here’s more on the poster by director Guillermo del Toro:

“I am thrilled to introduce Sergio Grisanti to the world,” Del Toro said in a statement. “For years he has been a highly respected commercial artist. When I was first exposed to his art for ‘Pacific Rim,’ I knew instantly that he was a powerhouse of talent. He created the Jaeger posters/card art we used at WonderCon. Without any hesitation I asked him to create this new Imax Fanfix art. Look at it closely — with a magnifying glass! So much going on! Such power! Such beauty! Sergio loves his Kaijus and his Mecha, and it shows. The poster, like my film, is a tribute to well-loved things. I wish all the fans the best time at the first Imax screenings of ‘Pacific Rim.’ Enjoy!”

Also, an important note about the poster!

The limited-edition poster was created specifically as part of Imax’s Fanfix series and will be available exclusively at the first Imax showings of “Pacific Rim,” which soldiers into theaters July 12.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman on DVD & BluRay in the US

Posted on June 26, 2013 at 7:02 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

Special distributor Sentai Filmworks has obtained the license to distribute legendary anime (and Super Sentai spiritual ancestor) “Science Ninja Team Gatchaman” in America!

All 105 episodes and three O.V.A. releases will be included in the special DVD & BluRay box sets. At the moment price is not available but release date is estimated for October.

While not a Tokusatsu, seeing as this is an animated series, the show has been related many times over to the Super Sentai franchise. And a live action film starring several tokusatsu alumni, not least of which being Tori Matsuzaka (Shinken Red), will be released later this year!

Tiger Mask to be Made into a Live Action Movie

Posted on June 19, 2013 at 11:42 am by Kiryu under General Tokusatsu News

Recently, it was announced that Ken Ochiai’s classic anime and manga: Tiger Mask will be adapted into a live action movie. Actor Eiji Wentz will be playing the lead role as Tiger Mask and the movie also stars Show Aikwa as Mister X, and Natsuna as the heroine Rukino.

The original manga told the story of Naoto Date’s alter ego: Tiger Mask, whom is a feared wrestler in America and extremely vicious in the ring. But after returning to Japan, Tiger Mask meets a young boy that idolized him as a villain, the boy lived in the same orphanage that he grew up in. Tiger Mask is inspired to be a more heroic wrestler.

The movie adaption however, is an origin story that pits Tiger Mask against an evil Wrestling organization. Tiger Mask’s costume receives a modern update, making him look closer to an American comic book super hero.

The film is set to premiere in Japanese Theaters this November, and a brief launch trailer has been released:
