Premium Bandai Announces Denshi Sentai Denziman Denji-Ring Set

Posted on July 31, 2017 at 6:16 pm by Paladin under Super Sentai

Premium Bandai has announced a very unusual new exclusive set: five diecast Denji Rings– the henshin device used in the 1980 Super Sentai Series Denshi Sentai Denziman!

For those unfamiliar with the story, Denziman is the tale of 5 descendants of the legendary Denzi Clan granted possession of the Denji Rings so they would be strong enough to repel the invading alien Vader Clan.

This set of five rings will be released in January 2018 for the relatively reasonable price of 5400 Yen before shipping & fees.

Figma Kuroko Announced

Posted on July 30, 2017 at 12:23 pm by Kiryu under Super Sentai

Max Factory has a very left field announcement, with the recent reveal of a Figma Kuroko currently in the works.

Fans of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger might recognize this particular character as the servants working for the Shiba Clan, they help set the stage for the Shinkenger’s grand entrance and these look to stand perfectly with Bandai’s S.H.Figuarts Shinkenger releases.

However, don’t get your hopes up thinking that Max Factory will be picking up Sentai characters for release: while Kurokos are featured quite prominently in Shinkenger, they are in fact part of Japanese culture. Kurokos are stagehands in Japanese theatre, they dress in black and work behind the scenes to manipulate props and scenery akin to their role in the show. They are not exclusively a Shinkenger thing, so  DO NOT expect Max Factory or Goodsmile to release Super Sentai figures.

None the less, the Figma Kuroko looks to be a good representation of the character, and will see a March 2018 release, retailing for 4,980 yen.

Super Sentai Homage in Latest Dragon Ball Super Episode

Posted on July 30, 2017 at 12:01 am by Chris under Super Sentai

Fun fact – Super Sentai and Dragon Ball Super share the same production company known as Toei. Some readers may remember the original Super Sentai homage in Dragon Ball Z – namely the Ginyu Force. But some 30 years later a new homage to Super Sentai exists in the world (or universe) of Dragon Ball Super – the Pride Troopers!

In the latest arch of Dragon Ball Super there is a giant tournament between 10 different universes. From one universe comes a group of warriors who call themselves the Pride Troopers and they will remind you heavily of the Ginyu Force homage as each fighter takes a pose ending with a group shot and a colorful explosion behind them.

Check out the attached image for what we mean. And check out Dragon Ball Super, airing every Saturday, to catch up on what has become one of the hottest animes of 2017!

Toei Super Hero Time Moves Time Slots this October

Posted on July 2, 2017 at 5:57 pm by Chris under Kamen Rider, Super Sentai

Starting this October, Super Hero Time (the hour long block of programming that airs Super Sentai and Kamen Rider) is changing up their time slot on local Japanese television. The change is shown below, all times local Japanese time.

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger – from 7:30am to 9:30am
Kamen Rider Build – from 8:00am to 9:00am

Obviously, the biggest switch aside from the times is that the new Kamen Rider Build series will begin airing before Super Sentai. How big is the time change overall? Well, for starters, this is the first time slot change for Super Sentai since the 7th episode of Megaranger. If you’re keeping track, that’s 20 years. So that’s kind of big.
