Toku Toy Box: Power Rangers Lightning Collection Mighty Morphin Black Ranger Gallery

Posted on December 21, 2020 at 1:31 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Network News and Updates, Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Zack here, this is kicking!”

An interdimensional wizard asking him to defend the earth from a 10,000 year old witch may have been just too weird for Zack Taylor, at first. But faced with a choice, let monsters attack him and his friends or step up and defend the Earth, he was always going to do the right thing. Clever & brave, Zack was gifted the powers of the Mighty Morphin Black Ranger & the powerful Mastodon Dinozord! Protecting Earth from the likes of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, Zack was the first in a long line of Black Powers Rangers and powerful black heroes.

Finally rounding out the core team of the original 5 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the Mighty Morphin Black Ranger brings us around to our 2nd release for Zack Taylor in the line. First released in his Dragon Shield form, this standard variant gives us  many of the same accessories. The Power Axe is a straight repack and the effect for it cast in new colors, we get a pair of hands, the Blade Blaster gun mode as well as a brand new sculpt for the sword/blade mode, and we get an all new unmasked headsculpt based on the likeness of Zack’s actor Walter Jones! That’s more than enough variety to warrant purchasing this character again in my opinion.

You can check out the full gallery & review of the Lightning Collection Mighty Morphin Black Ranger in the thread linked below by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. And remember, commenting in this gallery thread will qualify you for one (1) additional entry in our annual TOKU TOY BOX giveaway! Offical rules HERE.

Power Rangers Lightning Collection Dragon Shield Mighty Morphin Black Ranger Gallery

Posted on October 18, 2019 at 6:56 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Sit tight buddy, I’ll take care of this guy!”

Set to impress Angela with a pair of pearl earrings for their big date, Zack has no idea that Rita Repulsa has tricked him into taking the Pearls of Stillness! Spellbound to freeze everyone as soon as they’re worn, the Power Rangers as well as Zack’s date are stuck. Now it’s up to Zack & Tommy to face off against the Oysterizer on their own. And in a moment of need, the Green Ranger’s mighty shield can be passed to another. Wielding the Dragon Shield himself, the Black Ranger takes on the Oysterizer!

You may recall that this form was the basis of an SDCC 2014 S.H. Figuarts exclusive, which I reviewed way back when. 5 years on and we’re getting a brand new take on it with this Lightning Collection figure. The Dragon Shield Black Ranger (5 years ago known as the Armored Black Ranger) originates from the “Zyu2” era of Saban commissioned & Toei produced footage to flesh out the end of MMPR season 1. So this interesting form is exclusive to American aired footage and believe it or not, this unique power up is featured in less than 1 minute of actual screen time. That’s it! But once again we’ve been treated to a truly wonderful figure of this unique design. Armed with the Blade Blaster and Power Axe this figure will be a perfect addition to your already Mighty Morphin collection.

Check out over 60 morphinominal photos of the Dragon Shield Black Ranger after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’re heading back to the world Oni with a fresh gallery from Kamen Rider Hibiki!

The MIGHTY MORPHIN DRAGON SHIELD BLACK RANGER Figure has over 20 points of articulation and includes two different heads that can be swapped—one of the Ranger in his helmet, and another without as Zack Taylor from the original MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS series. SDCC Exclusive Soul Of Chogokin SOC GX-72B Black Megazord Gallery

Posted on October 2, 2018 at 10:40 am by Den-O under Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“We need Megazord power, NOW!”

SDCC had some powerful exclusives for Power Rangers collector’s this year. Exclusives that are now making the rounds at a number of North American conventions such as Fan Expo Canada and New York Comic Con. Today, we’re taking a look at by far the most spectacular of these exclusives with the SOC Soul of Chogokin GX-72B Black Megazord!

The Black Megazord/Daizyujin is an elaborate repaint of the original SOC release, primarily in black, with a plethora of gorgeous gold trim, green accents, and silver chrome. This color scheme is directly inspired by and meant to compliment the Soul of Chogokin Dragonzord/Dragon Caesar, which is a bit of a different take on the black repaint tradition than we usually get for MMPR or Zyuranger. Each of the Zords functions identically to the first release, but they look so spectacular in these new colors. We’ve included a number of comparison shots with the first release, with some fun mix & match possibilities as well.

Attached are 120 images of this gorgeous set. You can also read up on our full review of SOC Black Megazord in the full gallery thread by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. And don’t worry if you’ve missed one of it’s various con releases either, it’s being made available through the Tamashii Web Shop in Japan next year as well.

Soul of Chogokin SOC GX-76 Zyuranger Daizyujin/MMPR Megazord Gallery

Posted on March 3, 2018 at 10:13 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Appear Daizyujin!”

We know this one’s been out for a while, but when you’re dealing with something this incredible, it takes a bit of time to do the job right. So we’ve taken our time and shot an in depth gallery of nearly 200 images, with a full length 7 part review of this fantastic release. It’s well past time we share with you our in depth look at the Soul of Chogokin SOC GX-76 Daizyujin! Of course for the western collectors out there this is none other than the MMPR Megazord!

Daizyujin is that most iconic of Sentai mecha to those of us in the west. It’s gone through various toylines, updates, and revisions over the years, and finally Tamashii Nations has tackled it with an entry in their long line of SOC’s. This figure sat out to recreate the iconic designs of the 5 Guardian Beasts and their two combined forms using modern engineering. The results are near flawless. We have a die-cast laden, poseable, proportionate, and imposing figure to add to our collections. Special note, our review piece today (provided by the infinitely generous TokuChris) features the western Bluefin distribution exclusive packaging. Consisting of new MMPR themed box art.

We’ve attached the MASSIVE 195 image gallery of SOC Daizyujin to this post. But you can also read our lengthy review of this set by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. This gallery & review were a labor of love for me. And if you’re a fan of Zyuranger or MMPR, I hope it does the job of making you want this set.

Power Morphicon 5 – Soul of Chogokin DaiZyuJin

Posted on August 18, 2016 at 9:16 pm by TokuChris under Power Morphicon, Power Rangers, Super Sentai

While there was plenty of new and exciting things to see at this year’s Power Morphicon, easily the most surprising and most exciting was the reveal of the upcoming Soul of Chogokin DaiZyuJin from Tamashii Nations. Featuring diecast metal and an incredible amount of detail, there was no details given about the new item from the Soul of Chogokin line. Adam from Tamashii Nations was on hand and the only details he would give us, or anyone, was that the best thing to relate this item to was the previously released Soul of Chogokin Voltron figure.

Teased in the text is “Battle mode has been initiated for NYCC 2016” … promising a more in-depth look at this amazing set of figures at this year’s New York Comic Con. And dare we say it … the first look at a combined mode? I mean, it’s not like we can see the Megazord’s head in a couple of the images we took … or can you?

Check out the entire gallery of the Soul of Chogokin DaiZyuJin by clicking the title of the story!

Soul of Chogokin Daizyujin/Dino Megazord Revealed at Power Morphicon!

Posted on August 12, 2016 at 3:45 pm by Den-O under Conventions, Power Morphicon, Power Rangers, Super Sentai

Now this is probably the biggest surprise of all from this years’ Power Morphicon.  Earlier today Tamashii Nations teased that they would indeed have something to show off at PMC this weekend. The reveal of that item comes as a total surprise to many, but lo and behold they have just revealed Soul of Chogokin Daizyujin! AKA the original Mighty Morphin Dino Megaord!

The individual mecha/zords are on display currently with no combined mode shown yet, but wow what a reveal this is! A truly surprising and interesting development from this years show. We’ll keep you updated as more and better pictures and information become available for Soul  of Chogokin Daizyujin/Dino Megazord!

Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger: DX Black Daizyujin Gallery

Posted on April 17, 2016 at 9:51 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Arise, Daizyujin!

At long last TokuNation is proud to present a really special gallery for you. Following up on our recent 14K Gold Galaxy Megazord Gallery, we have another blast from the past to share. You know the series that started a massively successful franchise in the west, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. You know the series that gave it life, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. Now we’re taking you back to another first, the first black sentai mecha repaint ever. DX Black Daizyujin!

This gorgeous release was on store shelves in 1993 near the end of Zyuranger’s televised run. Undoubtedly many western fans recognize this mecha from the Bandai America Black & Gold Megazord release, and the recent Legacy version of said toy. That vintage release was itself a mere repackaging of Black Daizyujin, the originator of the black repaint concept for Super Sentai & Power Rangers. At one time this set retailed for 8000 yen, today it commands prices in excess of 60,000 yen. But we managed to get an incredible deal on one thanks to the amazing folks as Serious Toyz. So that brings us to this, a massive gallery totaling over 100 images of this rare and unique set. We’ve done our best to show off each Guardian Beast, the combined Dinotanker mode, and the mighty Daizyujin & its’ glorious gold chromed Dinosaur Sword God Horn.

We’ve attached a pretty sizable selection of this images to this post, but the entire gallery can be accessed by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.
