Back at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, I contacted a good, old friend of mine from my days in the Transformers community from working for a decade at our sister site TFW2005.COM. His name is Marcelo Matere, and if you are, or were, a Transformers fan then you’ve seen his work – whether it be in comic books from both Dreamwave and IDW Publishing, to official box art work for Hasbro and their Transformers product. Knowing he has tremendous skill in drawing anything robotic in nature, I commissioned from him a Power Rangers piece – the Dragonzord fighting the original Megazord. Using nothing but pictures of toys for references, he hit the project out of the park! I wasn’t the only one who was impressed – even Bandai of America was impressed with his artwork.

We are incredibly pleased and proud to reveal the final version of this beautiful piece of artwork colored by comic book colorist Tom Chu, who has worked on various projects for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, IDW Publishing, and Archie Comics, as well as independent comics and official products for major toy companies. You may recognize his name from our very own Talkin Toku Podcast which he co-hosts, as well as being one of our administrators here at TokuNation.com under the name Sentai Tamashii, or even on Twitter as @SoulInkChu.

I think you will agree with us that this is one of the most impressive pieces of artwork for the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers that we’ve ever seen. And we are beyond excited to share with you in future updates higher resolution versions of this image (minus our watermark) for use as wallpapers and other such things.

Please take a moment and follow these incredibly talented individuals and show their work some love. And, if you happen to want something awesome drawn for you or colored for you, please don’t be shy in asking them about their commission prices. San Diego Comic-Con 2014 has come and gone, the TokuNation.com crew had a great time at the show, and of course we had to share a souvenir or two with you. So up today is our final entry (for now) in the long list of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Power Ranger’s galleries we’ve worked on for the last year. Today we look at the 2014 Exclusive SDCC Armored Black Ranger!

A unique product of the “Zyu2” footage created for MMPR season 1, Armored Black Ranger is a very unique toy as well. This figure shares the honor of being one of only two truly US exclusive MMPR related figuarts released here, along with the female bodied Yellow Ranger. Created in response to the demands of the US market Armored Black Ranger is a fantastic release that continues the tradition of quality and excellence that the Zyuranger/MMPR line of S.H. Figuarts releases has had from the beginning. Likely the last releases in this particular franchise of figures, Armored Black Ranger ends it in style. This awesome yet briefly seen form from the finale of MMPR season 1 “An Oyster Stew” is incredibly satisfying to finally own. If you have the chance to pick this figure up, we highly recommend it.

The boys are back from their crossover adventure with the release of Episode 12 – Lord Zedd Interview and Talkin Dino Charge! Talk some toku with your hosts Chris/Kickback, Jordan/Den-O, and Tom/Sentai Tamashii! In this week’s episode, Chris conducts the first ever Talkin Toku Interview with none other than Robert Axelrod, the voice of Lord Zedd from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Special thanks to Denver Comic Con for helping set up and coordinate a time and place for the interview. Chris also shares his thoughts on Denver Comic Con.

To round off the episode the guys keep the topic on Power Rangers, and more specifically discuss a couple of Power Rangers Monday articles – namely what do we want to see adapted in to Power Rangers Dino Charge from Kyoryuger and what else would we have liked to see adapted from Super Sentai in general in to Power Rangers? It’s a fun conversation as our hopes for a great season with Power Rangers Dino Charge especially with Judd Lynn at the helm show up in the conversation. UPDATED: From Raz himself we now have images of the listed names for these items as well as prices from the TRU computer system!

A major reveal is on the horizon. Courtesy of @razzle1337 on twitter, we have our first news of new upcoming Power Rangers Legacy items! According to Raz:

  • Legacy Tigerzord – $79.99
  • Legacy Saba – $99.99
  • Legacy 5″ Movie Figures – $16.99 Each

As has become tradition these items likely come from the Toys ‘R’ Us computer system. Though for now we have no images of the figures themselves. If a Legacy Tigerzord is indeed happening then would a Legacy Thunder Megazord be far behind?

And as for Legacy 5″ Movie figures, a listing such as this is years too early to reference the upcoming joint film project between Saban Brands & Lion’s Gate. What these most likely are, are 5″ figures based on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theatrical movie! For the first time in 20 years we’ll finally have new product based on the original film!

So will we see these next month at SDCC? Possibly. Or will we see them at later date in the TRU computer system? This is just as likely. Be sure to stay with us as we update you in this developing story!

Attention all Power Rangers fans in or near Denver, Colorado! This weekend is the third annual Denver Comic Con and it’s the largest convention yet! For those of you who are fans of brightly colored spandex wearing heroes (and a main villain), this is a great opportunity to meet some of your childhood heroes. In attendance this year is David Yost who played Billy the Mighty Morphin Blue Power Ranger, Walter Jones who played Zack the Mighty Morphin Black Power Ranger, Jason David Frank who played Tommy the Mighty Morphin Green and White Power Rangers, the Power Rangers Zeo Red Ranger, the Power Rangers Turbo Red Ranger, the Power Rangers Dino Thunder Black Ranger, and is returning as the Mighty Morphin Green Power Ranger in the final episode of this year’s Power Rangers Super Megaforce. Last and certainly not least is Robert Axelrod, the voice of the evil Lord Zedd from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (and Armadillomon from Digimon Season 2)!.

Your scheduling block is pretty simple. On Friday, June 13th from 11:00am to 11:50am, join Walter Jones, David Yost, and Robert Axelrod in the Power Rangers: Morphin Time! panel.
