Tamashii Nations Shanghai: Pacific Rim 2 Robot Damashii Gypsy Avenger Revealed!

Posted on July 6, 2017 at 11:06 am by Den-O under Conventions, General Tokusatsu News, Other Conventions

Tamashii Nations Shanghai is in full swing! You may recall that a couple months back we heard our first confirmation that Bandai/Tamashii Nations had finally acquired the license to produce toys for the Pacific Rim franchise. At the time the only offering previewed was a rough prototype of the Soul of Chogokin Gypsy Danger. But as of today we can get excited about one more upcoming product as well!

Shown off for the first time is the brand new Robot Damashii Gypsy Avenger from Pacific Rim 2! This successor to the original Gypsy Danger, piloted by the son of Stacker Pentecost, is so far the first product revealed for the highly anticipated sequel. But we’re sure it’s far form the last. For now this release doesn’t have any confirmed release details this far out from the films release on February 23rd, 2018, but we’ll certainly keep you updated as more details become available this year!

Now, let’s cancel the apocalypse!

Tamashii Nations Shanghai: S.H.Figuarts Juggulus Juggler and More Revealed

Posted on July 6, 2017 at 12:48 am by Kiryu under Ultraman

FUSION UP!

Tamashii Nations World Tour makes its next stop in Shanghai China,  and a plethora of new S.H.Figuarts releases from Ultraman Orb have been revealed at the event, with photos courtesy of users from Weibo.

Kicking us off, we have S.H.Figuarts Juggulus Juggler and Spacium Zeprion being the only two that have a confirmed price and release date: Juggulus Juggler will retail for 6500 yen slated to come out in January 2018, while Spacium Zeperion will come out in December for 5500 yen. It is unclear whether or not the pair will be mass retail release, or some exclusive to some site or storefront.

In addition, Ultraman Orb’s other forms: Burnmite, Hurricane Slash, and Thunder Breaster were also on display but with display only labels, so it is unclear if those three will ever see release to the public.

Studio Trigger Announces SSSS Gridman Anime Series!

Posted on July 2, 2017 at 10:29 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

An unusual news item from this weekends’ Anime Expo:

The animation studio Studio Trigger has announced a new anime series based on the tokusatsu series Denko Chojin Gridman from Tsuburaya Productions!

Tentatively titled SSSS Gridman, this anime will feature a new story unrelated to the original Gridman series. Veteran anime director Akira Amemiya will be in charge of the project.

Some fans may remember Studio Trigger as the minds behind the short film Gridman: Boys Invent Great Hero back in 2015-

Sadly, no other information about this new Gridman project is available at time of writing. Stay tuned to TokuNation for further details!

Toei Super Hero Time Moves Time Slots this October

Posted on July 2, 2017 at 5:57 pm by Chris under Kamen Rider, Super Sentai

Starting this October, Super Hero Time (the hour long block of programming that airs Super Sentai and Kamen Rider) is changing up their time slot on local Japanese television. The change is shown below, all times local Japanese time.

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger – from 7:30am to 9:30am
Kamen Rider Build – from 8:00am to 9:00am

Obviously, the biggest switch aside from the times is that the new Kamen Rider Build series will begin airing before Super Sentai. How big is the time change overall? Well, for starters, this is the first time slot change for Super Sentai since the 7th episode of Megaranger. If you’re keeping track, that’s 20 years. So that’s kind of big. Join in the discussion thread!
