TokuNation Reviews Redman: The Kaiju Hunter Volume 1

Posted on September 13, 2018 at 9:50 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

“Reddo Fight!”

In 1972, Tsuburaya Productions commissioned a new spin-off from their popular Ultra Series. Curious, quirky, and quite violent, Redman joined the Nippon TV Ohayo! Kodomo variety show.  Serialized in 138 5-minute episodes, Redman faced off against countless Kaiju from across the various Ultra series which had aired by this time. Mercilessly, Redman would dispatch these Kaiju with little to no context outside of what magazine text stories and interviews could provide.

Flash forward to 2018, the superstar creative team of Matt Frank & Goncalo Lopes have resurrected this red warrior for a brand new series of Graphic Novels. The first of which, Redman: The Kaiju Hunter Volume 1, was recently released in July. Taking this obscure but classic character and helping to re-imagine his backstory as so much more than it was previously, Frank & Lopes have crafted a modern classic.

Here at TokuNation we were fortunate enough to be provided a promotional copy of Volume 1 for review.  Click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post and you can read our full review of Redman: The Kaiju Hunter! Let us know what you think of the series if you’ve had a chance to read it as well!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Joker Gallery

Posted on September 10, 2018 at 10:54 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Looks like the trump card, always comes my way.”

The race for the T2 Gaia Memories is on! As Kamen Rider Eternal and NEVER descend on Fuuto, Kamen Rider W will be temporarily out of commission! With Phillip captured, can Shotaro save the day on his own? With a little help from the Boss, this hardboiled hero will take on a new role, as Kamen Rider Joker!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Joker is yet another lavish do-over from Bandai. Chipping away at the forms and variations of Kamen Rider W in their premium renewal line, Joker was released as a Tamashii Nations event exclusive last year. It was also made available in mid-2018 via the Tamashii Web Shop. While it’s undoubtedly an easy repaint, and definitely has a dearth of accessories, it’s certainly a form that brings it’s style A-game.

While we’ve attached the full 55+ image gallery to this post, you can also read up on our full review Kamen Rider Joker. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to be taken to the full thread. Next time, we FINALLY tackle the big SDCC Exclusive of this year with the SOC Black Megazord!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Build Rabbit Tank Sparkling Form Gallery

Posted on September 1, 2018 at 4:59 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Effervescent Burst! Rabbit Tank Sparkling!”

Using the essence of Pandora’s Box, Sento Kiryu has managed to create a new power-up item to rival the revealed Blood Stalk! This dazzling new form that shocks even Souichi Isurugi, maximizes Build’s speed and strength and will even drive the fearsome Night Rogue into hiding. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Build Rabbit Tank Sparkling Form bursts onto the scene!

Build Sparkling is another fantastic outing for this mold, slightly modified from it’s previous two outings as Build & Cross-Z. It’s a form I didn’t initially expect to want to own, but you a know a fantastic show has a way of changing my opinion on things like that. In hand Sparkling is a really dynamic and interesting new take on the mold, though it’s sadly very lite on accessories. Including 10 hands (not all in matching pairs either!) Sparkling can interact with all the goodies included in the Parts Set with the Machine Builder though.

This gallery clocks in at just over 65 images, all of which are attached to this post. You can also read up on our full review of the figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’ll be back with  a gallery of the Tamashii Nations event exclusives Kamen Rider Joker!

Posted on August 31, 2018 at 6:57 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

For 25 years the Power Rangers have been on television, on store shelves, and had its iconic theme song stuck in your head. We’re sure that more than once in the last few years have you heard a communicator “bum bum bum-bummm bum-bummm” play while you’re out and about being an adult. And in that brief moment you harken back to being a kid and racing home to watch Tommy and the other Power Rangers kick Lord Zedd‘s butt. Thus, you probably caught the Power Rangers 25th Anniversary Episode on Nickelodeon the other night – or if you haven’t then you’ve checked out all the various clips around the Internet.

Never fear – we caught the episode, recorded it ourselves, and have re-watched it numerous times. SURPRISE – Evil Red Ranger Figure is Evil MMPR Red in Super Ninja Steel Toy Line

Posted on August 31, 2018 at 1:52 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Found by Guadalupe M we have our first look at the evil Red Ranger figure that was previously listed in the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel 5″ figure line. Every fan assumed it would be the evil Red Ranger version of Super Ninja Steel Red, first seen in the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel trailer for the last half the season.

But now we know it is actually the evil Mighty Morphin Red Ranger robot clone from the 25th Anniversary episode “Dimensions in Danger” which aired this past Tuesday. We have confirmed the legitimacy of the figure with Jason Bischoff from Hasbro.

Time to dust off that Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel peg at your local stores to find this guy – we assume he will be in VERY high demand! Happy hunting!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Golden Knight Garo Gallery

Posted on August 26, 2018 at 4:47 pm by Den-O under Garo, General Tokusatsu News, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Where there is light, Shadows lurk and fear reigns.”
“Yet by the blade of knights, mankind was given hope.”

It’s been a grueling 7 year wait, but it’s finally over. Tamashii Nations has at last delivered on a promise to revitalize the Garo line of S.H. Figuarts. Kicking things off with a brand new take on the iconic Golden Knight, the greatest Makai Knight is reborn as S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Garo!

Garo has been lavishly recreated to the most minute detail for the first time in the franchise’s 13 year history. The Golden Knight is recreated in near perfect 1/12 scale form, replete with chrome golden armor, armed with the mighty Garoken and it’s scabbard, this figure is the perfect starting point for a new Garo collection. With this figure out now, and his ally the Fanged Knight Zero due in November, could this finally be the Renaissance of Garo for S.H. Figuarts? I certainly hope so!

We’ve attached the full 90 image gallery to this post, but you can also read up on our extensive review of the figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. This figure has been a long time in the making, and we took this opportunity to document as many of it’s details as possible. We hope you enjoy this extensive gallery, we’ll be back soon with more from Kamen Rider Build & Kamen Rider W!
