Bandai America SDCC Exclusives Revealed – First Legacy Power Rangers Zeo Item

Posted on June 28, 2017 at 4:08 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

San Diego Comic Con is less than a month away and thanks to the official San Diego Comic Con website, we have our first look at the upcoming exclusives from Bandai America.

First up – the very first Power Rangers Zeo Legacy item! It’s time for a Gold Rush as you will look stylish and sleek sporting your brand new 14K(ish) gold plated communicator. The Power Rangers Zeo Legacy Gold Ranger Communicator will be available at the show for $100, but will easily be worth thousands of dollars within moments of landing in someone’s hands because this is the only item worth purchasing at the entire convention this summer. And if you end up one spot in line ahead of me and you get a guaranteed ticket and I’m stuck with a raffle I am liable to put you on a voodoo doll when I return home, obviously in tears, because the greatest convention exclusive of all time didn’t land in my hands. Is it natural to salivate in a news story about a toy?

For the Power Rangers Movie fans, a Legacy Movie Megazord figure will be available to purchase for $40. As of this time, we are unsure what differences this has from the original figure assembled with the Legacy Power Rangers Movie figures from earlier this year.

Finally, a Tokyo Vinyl Black and Gold Megazord figure will be available for $60.

More information on these exclusives, as well as their availability (as always they will be limited), will be released soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Mach Chaser Gallery

Posted on June 25, 2017 at 4:31 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Fight with me, my greatest buddy!”

It’s time to search & destroy all at mach speed one more time! Kamen Rider Drive continues to be a merchandising juggernaut with new releases churned out from Bandai every quarter. Even now, nearly 3 years after the series finale. This go around we’re looking at the first new S.H. Figuart released from the series second V-Cinema, Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Mach/Kamen Rider Heart. Once again Bandai has managed to fashion a new form out of pre-existing molds to create S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Mach Chaser!

Not to be confused with last years’ Kamen Rider Chaser Mach, Mach Chaser is Gou’s final form. Accessed through a new Shift Ride Crosser (which is present in the Mach Driver), Mach Chaser is a new spin on what made Chaser Mach so great. This time the cohesion between the mishmash of Mach & Chaser parts is even greater though thanks to a solid new color scheme. As always Gou has his trusty Zenrin Shooter at his side, and this time he has the addition of a brand new zenrin effect part for curved slashes! If you loved Chaser Mach then there’s lots to love for you here with Mach Chaser as well. Drive as a franchise has been built on smart repaints and reuses of pre-existing designs, this is yet another wonderful execution of that ideology. And just a heads up, Mach Chaser does not come with a Signal Ax, the ones in these shots came from my Kamen Rider Chaser.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the full 80 image gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in the VERY near future with a pair of new galleries from Kamen Rider W & Space Sheriff Gavan!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Necrom Gallery

Posted on June 11, 2017 at 9:37 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Crush the Invader!”

It’s been some time since we’ve stepped back into the world of the dead, so it’s time to pay another visit to Kamen Rider Ghost. I’ve made my thoughts on this line known previously, so I was very hesitant to return to it again. But I’m giving it just one more go with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Necrom!

Necrom completes the trio of riders from the series, so in at least that regard he’s satisfying. But many of the design flaws which plagued the first several releases of this line are still present. Shoulder designs, wrist cuffs, an obtrusive overcoat. That being said, Necrom does look rather good and I do so love seeing full groups of riders together. Though there is a severe lack of accessories with this figure. You can see it all in my full review linked below.

Feel free to browse the full 60+ image gallery by clicking “Discussin on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back soon with yet another new gallery from a personal favorite of mine, Kamen Rider Drive!

Kamen Rider Build: 2018’s Kamen Rider Revealed?

Posted on June 5, 2017 at 11:37 am by Kiryu under Kamen Rider

With Kamen Rider Ex-Aid beginning to wind down, the rumor mill’s begun churning for 2018’s installment of Kamen Rider, and thanks to @trademark_bot via Twitter, we now know that Toei’s filed a trademark for a show called Kamen Rider Build!

In the past, Trademark bot was responsible for announcing shows like Zyuohger, Ex-Aid, and Orb so it stands to reason that there’s some legitimacy to this name. And as the name suggest, we might be heading into some sort of construction or heavy machinery theme for next year’s show. Toei has yet to make an official statement on this, so until we hear from them take this posting with an ingestion of salt and stay tuned to Tokunation! We’ll provide more up to date info as it’s made available.

Mighty Action X Beginning Set Part 3: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Snipe Level 2 Gallery

Posted on May 30, 2017 at 9:57 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Second Tactic.”

The disgraced unlicensed doctor Hanaya Taiga had a chance to defend the world 6 years ago. But his failures kept him from being the Kamen Rider he should have been, and made him the anti-hero he is today. Rounding out the finale of our special 3 part gallery breakdown of the Migthy Action X Beginning Set is our gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Snipe Shooting Gamer Level 2!

Snipe Level 2 takes what worked with the new Ex-Aid body on the first two figures and continues that reliability. While the Snipe design may not be my personal favorite of the 3, this is a solidly made release that brings a few new things to the table. Namely a new shoulder sash assembly (that does not work well), a gorgeous head that does work and uses one clever trick, and his trusty sidearm the Gashacon Magnum. An extra part is included to transform this weapon to it’s Rifle Mode as well.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can check out the full gallery & review of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Snipe Level 2 after the jump. Just click “discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post! And that rounds out our 3-part look at the first releases from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid! We’ll see you soon for another exciting gallery!

Mighty Action X Beginning Set Part 2: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Brave Level 2 Gallery

Posted on May 27, 2017 at 5:04 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Proceeding with level 2.”

And we’re back for part 2 of our Mighty Action X Beginning Set gallery series! Last time we took a look at the first rider in this set with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Action Gamer Level 2, and this time we get to spend some quality time with the world’s greatest surgeon, S.H Figuarts Kamen Rider Brave Quest Gamer Level 2! We decided that the best way to examine each of the 3 figures was in a gallery dedicated to each. After today we’ll just have Kamen Rider Snipe left!

Brave Level 2 is another wonderful example of how a new line can start strong. Like Ex-Aid, Brave excels in the details. Paint apps, well applied chest labels, molded details, the works. Brave looks fantastic. And he functions just like Ex-Aid, some shortcomings aside, this is a mold that can really emote when posed correctly. Brave is however a little lite on accessories, though he does come with one more set of hands than Ex-Aid, his only other accessory is the Explosive Freezing Gashacon Sword. Admittedly not a bad selection though.

We’ve assembled a full gallery of Brave after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this pose to see the full thread. In a few days we’ll examine the final member of the Mighty Action 3-pack with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Snipe Shooting Gamer Level 2!

Mighty Action X Beginning Set Part 1: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Level 2 Gallery

Posted on May 23, 2017 at 4:56 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“I’ll clear this with no continues!”

It’s a new beginning for S.H. Figuarts as the wonderfully wacky designs from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid arrive! Recently released as a retail 3-pack, Kamen Riders Ex-Aid, Brave & Snipe, have all made their debut. This massive 3-pack would be quite the beast to do one giant photo shoot of, so instead we’ve broken up the Mighty Action X Beginning Set into a special 3 part gallery!

Today we focus on part 1 (of 3) of the Mighty Action X Set with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Action Gamer Level 2! Our titular hero is a fantastic place for this new line to kick off. As a the first release of a new line, it needs to set the bar high, and I believe Ex-Aid manages to do that. This figure features an impressive level of detail befitting it’s design. Crisp paint apps, a mostly functional Gamer Driver with Gasshats, and some superb articulation. Throw in the included Gashacon Breaker in both it’s modes and you have a really well rounded release. This 3 pack also includes a massive display stage for the 3 figures, but we’ll take a look at that in part 3.

Feel free to browse our entire gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Action Gamer Level 2 after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in a few days with part 2 of the Mighty Action gallery series with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Brave Quest Gamer Level 2!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron & Tire Blending Set Gallery

Posted on May 19, 2017 at 11:02 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Fire All Engines!”

After a very very long wait, we’ve finally gotten a chance to take a look at Kamen Rider Drive’s final form with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron! The ultimate fusion of man & machine, this release is actually the deluxe Tire Blending Set as well. So not only do we get an excellent new figure, but several new Blended Tires too! Drive Type Tridoron is one of my favorite final forms in recent memory, and one that I feel brings entire design and aesthetic full circle. Does the figure do the same?

Drive Type Tridoron has been a long time coming. The TV series and various specials for Drive contained numerous riders and forms and slowly most of them have somehow made it out to market, so it’s no surprise that Drive’s final form has as well. A big, bulky, and powerful looking new form, Type Tridoron takes much of what works from this line of figuarts and admittedly a few faults as well. But it can’t be denied what an impressive presence it is in a Drive collection. Especially when armed with the mighty Trailer Cannon, or one of 3 fantastic Blended Tires included with this deluxe release. Each brings a unique flare to Drive’s look and a special weapon as well.

We’ve put together a huge 100+ image gallery of this figure after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see the full gallery & review. Obviously there are still several more Drive related figuarts in the pipeline, but this is an incredibly solid release for a riders’ final form. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron is another excellent addition to any collection.

“Nice Drive!”

God Speed Love Special: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Riders Hercus, Ketaros, & Caucasus Gallery

Posted on May 17, 2017 at 12:40 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Cast Off.”

It’s been a while since we’ve taken a look at any older releases, but with Shinkocchou Seihou in full swing for Kamen Rider Kabuto, we thought it was time for a return. The next pair of releases due out in that line are the Hopper Bros, but perhaps it’s only a matter of time before the entire original line is redone in this premium style? In anticipation of that we’re going to knock out 3 classic releases today with this special triple gallery from Kabuto’s theatrical film God Speed Love. Today we look at the 3 riders of a future that never came to pass with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Riders Hercus, Ketaros, & Caucasus!

Hercus, Ketaros, & Caucasus are all in fact re[aints & remolds to varying degrees of the original Kamen Rider Kabuto mold. Long before Seihou ever made it obsolete, that mold got a lot of mileage. And these 3 movie exclusive riders may just be the best use of it. While each is undoubtedly pretty close to Kabuto’s standard design, they each offer a unique take on the beetle theme with suit colors we didn’t really see in the series proper. The real question though is, with the chance of Seihou’s to replace these in the next couple years, are they worth your time and money? Let’s find out!

We’ve put together a full 80 images of this trio of riders in our gallery & review thread linked below. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see them all. We’ll be back soon with a brand new gallery from Kamen Rider Drive!
