High Definition Pictures of Soul of Chogokin Pacific Rim Gipsy Danger Jaeger

Posted on April 29, 2017 at 6:32 pm by Chris under Conventions, General Tokusatsu News, Other Conventions

Out of left field earlier today came the reveal of the Soul of Chogokin Gipsy Danger Jaeger figure from the Pacific Rim movie. It was on display at the Tamashii Nations Event in New York City, of which we had a couple of staffers attend. Our team dug through the high definition pictures and found three great images that give us a feel of what this figure is going to bring.

Check them out after the jump! Will you be purchasing this figure, especially with a Pacific Rim sequel coming out? Sound off in our discussion thread!

S.I.C. Kamen Rider Drive Type Speed Gallery

Posted on April 26, 2017 at 6:19 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Nice Drive!”

We’re back in the exciting world of Kamen Rider Drive with a brand new gallery of the series first foray into the S.I.C. toyline!

S.I.C. Kamen Rider Drive Type Speed is the shows first entry in this line, soon to be followed by Mashin Chaser and the recently confirmed Heart Roidmude. While I don’t typically pick up S.I.C.’s I could not resist seeing Takeyuki Takeya’s take on this Rider. After all, the famed designer created all of the Roidmudes that Drive and his allies faced in the series. This monstrous rendition of Drive is an impressive piece of design from this prolific creator. And as with most S.I.C.’s it’s positively loaded down with accessories! Such as the Handle Sword, Door Gun, The Max Flare Tire, and plenty of Shift Cars. This is a really all inclusive release that sets the bar pretty high for where this line goes from here.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but you can view over 70 images of S.I.C. Kamen Rider Drive after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

LVUR PB01 Full Action Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Level 1 Gallery

Posted on April 23, 2017 at 12:54 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Let’s Game, Super Game, Ultra Game, what’s your name?!”

We’re back at long last with another gallery from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid! It’s been a while since we took a hard look at the initial release from Ex-Aid’s toyline, LVUR01 Ex-Aid, and Bandai has gone back to the drawing board to try and offer fans a better alternative to that figure. Have they managed to do so? Find out in our review of Premium Bandai’s release of Full Action Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Level 1!

Full Action Ex-Aid obviously has much more articulation than Bandai’s first outing, as the name would imply. This stumpy little fella manages to pull off poses that plenty of retail gimmick figures can’t. However at full retail, this figure also tops out near $60 USD before shipping. Ex-Aid Level 1 has tons of personality, but quite the lack of accessories as well. Only including the Gashacon Breaker Hammer Mode. Despite the improvements made, it does have it’s drawbacks as well. More of which you can read about in our full review below.

We’ve attached a selection to this post but you can view 50+ images of Full Action Ex-Aid Level 1 by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Later this week we return to the world of Kamen Rider Drive with a brand new gallery!

S.H. Figuarts Gatack Extender Gallery

Posted on April 20, 2017 at 5:14 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Stag Beetle

It’s been a while, but we took a look at S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Gatack back in December. And after so many years waiting for a good renewal of Gatack, Bandai only made us wait a couple months to get his ride! Today we’ve got a quick gallery & review of the S.H. Figuarts Gatack Extender!

The Gatack Extender, like it’s predecessor the Kabuto Extender, doesn’t actually transform from Masked Form to EX. After Bandai really knocked things like Dragranzer & Auto-Vaijin out of the park I wish they’d tried a bit more with these. But as is the Gatack Extender Masked Form we have here is still a great looking rider machine. One that pairs very well with Kamen Rider Gatack himself. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of many bikes, it does a more than serviceable job as a display piece.

You can view the entire 30+ images of this release after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. And we’ll be back in a couple of days with a brand new gallery from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Amazon Alpha (Amazon JP Edition) Gallery

Posted on April 16, 2017 at 1:39 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“AMAZON.”

We have officially entered the Armor Zone people! This marks our 3rd full gallery from the fantastic Amazon Japan series Kamen Rider Amazons. This week saw confirmation of yet another figure from the show with the Mole Amazon, and Season 2 is well under way with an exciting 2nd episode. So at long last we’re going to take a look at the other sometimes heroic but often savage rider from season 1 with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Amazon Alpha (Amazon JP Edition)!

Amazon Alpha (Jin Takayama) was definitely not what you’d call a traditional hero. By the end of season 1 he resembled more of a villain than anything thanks to his obsession with the Amazons. But that doesn’t detract from his magnificent design, or this figures. This release of Alpha, like the Omega we recently looked at, was an Amazon JP release that included some bonus flame effect parts. But even without those, Alpha is a fearsome figure that brings the character’s savage personality to life in your collection.

We’ve attached a number of images to this post, but you can view 70+ images in our full gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be switching gears after this and going back to another personal favorite series of mine, with a gallery from Kamen Rider Drive!

Kamen Rider Amazons: S.H. Figuarts Jungraider Gallery

Posted on April 13, 2017 at 3:20 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

Recently we took a look at one of the leads of the excellent Amazon Japan web series Kamen Rider Amazons with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Amazon Omega. Well we’re mixing things up a bit today, before we take a look at the series other lead rider, Amazon Alpha, we’re going to take a look at Omega’s Rider Machine, the S.H. Figuarts Jungraider!

Believe it or not, the Jungraider should be familiar to many people whether they’ve seen Amazons or not. And that’s because this bike is part of Bandai’s long tradition of recycled old suits and props. In fact the Jungraider was made from Kamen Rider Gills very own Gills Raider! So the figuart is no different, it’s an excellent remold of the Gills Raider, released nearly 7 years ago! But that’s not all, the Jungraider also includes the last couple pieces of Amazon Omega’s arsenal, the Battler Grip Sickle & Battler Grip Whip! This is a truly interesting release that will compliment any Amazons collection.

We’ve put together over 40 images of S.H. Figuarts Jungraider after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” after the jump to see the full gallery & review. We’ll be back with more Amazons goodness soon with a full gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Amazon Alpha!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Amazon Omega (Amazon JP Edition) Gallery

“AMAZON!”

Do you believe in Amazon yet? Well if not then it’s time to change your opinion! The fantastic Amazon Japan series Kamen Rider Amazons has been a runaway success since it’s first season premiered last year. With the 2nd season having just begun this week, we thought it was finally time to take a look at the first figure release from season 1 with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Amazon Omega (Amazon JP Edition)!

Haruka Mizusawa had the roles of Kamen Rider and Amazon thrust upon him, changing the very core of his being. And while we can’t answer for you what it means to be human or Amazon in this review, we can definitely tell you whether or not you need this figure. Minor qualms aside, Amazon Omega is a more than serviceable release that comes with way more accessories than your average retail figuart. Particularly with this Amazon JP Edition of the figure which includes green flame effects. But honestly it’s just a great looking figuart, and if you’re a fan of the series then you need to own him.

Check out over 70 images of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Amazon Omega after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back back soon with a follow up to this gallery with S.H. Figuarts Jungraider!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider J Gallery

Posted on March 28, 2017 at 7:31 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Henshin!”

It’s been a long time coming but I’m happy to announce my return to TokuNation galleries! And it’s time to take a look at the long awaited final Showa Rider, Kamen Rider J! J rounds out the trinity of movie exclusive riders from the post-RX era that is still considered Showa by Toei. The 3 films,Shin, ZO, & J are some of my favorite guilty pleasures. Each for differnet reasons. So it brings me great pleasure to finally own all 3 of these figures. This has been nearly 3 years in the making.

Kamen Rider J, you’ll notice has a very similar design to ZO. Which is intentional, but has also caused many people to mistake the two for one another for years. But when you get down to it, they are both very very different. The two figuarts themselves don’t share a bit of molding at all that I can determine, so J winds up with his own unique personality from ZO. While not perfect, J is an admirable send off to the Showa Era of Kamen Rider. Now let’s hope his iconic Rider Machine, the J-Crosser, is on the way soon.

Check out our full 50 image gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider J by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back soon with a few overdue galleries from Kamen Rider Drive, Tokkei Winspector, Kamen Rider Amazons, and more!

Power Rangers Movie Review – Minor Spoilers

Posted on March 26, 2017 at 12:32 pm by Chris under Power Rangers Movie

What a long and at times exhausting journey the last three years has been. From the initial announcement of the movie to the walk in to the worldwide premiere in Los Angeles we have all waited a very long time for this movie to come out. And finally it is here – the Power Rangers have returned to the big screen to entertain everyone for the first time in over 20 years.

But with nearly 25 years of history and a fandom that spans three generations does the movie hold up well? Can Power Rangers beat back the “it’s just for kids” reputation that the show has helped the franchise rightfully earn? Please join us in our NO SPOILERS review of the hotly anticipated Saban’s Power Rangers! Click “Read More” for our full, minor spoilers Power Rangers Movie review!

NOTE: “Minor spoilers”, in our terms, means we look at some of the things about the characters that make them tick (like Billy’s diagnosis and Trini’s personal dilemma). We do NOT reveal what happens to these characters or any major plot points of the movie.

Power Rangers Legacy Wars Review

Posted on March 26, 2017 at 10:25 am by Chris under Power Rangers, Power Rangers Movie

The only thing hyped as much as the Power Rangers Movie in the last two weeks was the upcoming mobile fighting game from nWay titled “Power Rangers Legacy Wars“, where you create a team of your favorite (available) Power Rangers and fight against other teams in order to stop Rita Repulsa from conquering the Power Rangers multiverse.

We’ve played the game in-depth since release and we’d like to share our review of the game with you. The game is a free purchase in the app store with plenty of in-game purchases available to keep your team going strong. Click the “Read More” link to see our full review of the game and whether or not it’s worth your time!
