S.H. Figuarts Yellow Buster & Usada Lettuce Gallery 2.0

Posted on April 29, 2016 at 10:05 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

It’s time for Buster!

TokuNation is finally ready to finish the journey it began nearly 5 months ago. Our Gallery 2.0 retrospective for Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters comes to an end with this final gallery, S.H. Figuarts Yellow Buster & Usada Lettuce!

Yellow Buster & Usada are the 5th and sadly last release in the Go-Busters Figuarts subline. But this pair are a more than admirable send off. Between the standard accessory load out of the Buster mold & the inclusion of Usada, this release is more than worth the  fair prices it goes for now. And with it you can at least complete the original trios of Buster & Buddyroids.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the full gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

Gaoranger DX Silver Chrome Gao Gorilla Gallery

Posted on April 26, 2016 at 10:33 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Hyakujuu Gattai!

On occasion TokuNation has the opportunity to share galleries of rare items that aren’t often seen in the toku collecting communities of the world, and today is no different. For your viewing pleasure we’ve assembled a gallery of a rarity from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, the gorgeous DX Silver Chrome Gao Gorilla!

Silver Gao Gorilla was a promotional release from 2003, 2 years after Gaoranger ran in Japan, & distributed exclusively by Bandai Asia/Hong Kong. It wasn’t an item regularly available for retail sale. Numerous sentai release in varying chrome colors have made their way to market in this nature over the last 2 decades. This rare piece pops up for sale on occasion but is still notoriously hard to find. The 4th of 5 versions of the Gao Gorilla Power Animal mold, Silver Gao Gorilla will add some serious bling to your collection, and especially to your Gao Muscle or Gao Knight display!

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can check out over 30 which await you in the full gallery/review thread. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation forums” at the bottom of this post to see them all.

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Decade Gallery

Posted on April 22, 2016 at 11:34 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Kamen Ride,
DECADE!

It’s time once again for TokuNation to take a look at a brand new update to a classic (if divisive) character with S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Decade! The 5th release in Bandai’s line of high end, premium style figuarts, Decade seeks to rectify the mistakes of the previous 2 releases this character received.

In every aspect where the original Decade figuarts failed, Seihou Decade succeeds perfectly. This figure has proportions, colors, features, & accessories that outclass the old release in every way. We finally have a Decade figuart with not only an accurate head, but a functioning Decadriver (that’s properly painted too!) but also quality Rider Cards to use with it. Decade also comes with all 3 forms of the Ride Booker, he even comes with hands for any situation including for use with the previously released S.H. Figuarts Machine Decader! topping off this selection Decade includes his alternate evil Violent Emotion head from Movie Wars 2010.

We’ve included a selection of images of this fantastic figure with this post, but over 60 await you in the full gallery/review thread. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation forums” at the bottom of this post to see them all.

Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger: DX Black Daizyujin Gallery

Posted on April 17, 2016 at 9:51 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Arise, Daizyujin!

At long last TokuNation is proud to present a really special gallery for you. Following up on our recent 14K Gold Galaxy Megazord Gallery, we have another blast from the past to share. You know the series that started a massively successful franchise in the west, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. You know the series that gave it life, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. Now we’re taking you back to another first, the first black sentai mecha repaint ever. DX Black Daizyujin!

This gorgeous release was on store shelves in 1993 near the end of Zyuranger’s televised run. Undoubtedly many western fans recognize this mecha from the Bandai America Black & Gold Megazord release, and the recent Legacy version of said toy. That vintage release was itself a mere repackaging of Black Daizyujin, the originator of the black repaint concept for Super Sentai & Power Rangers. At one time this set retailed for 8000 yen, today it commands prices in excess of 60,000 yen. But we managed to get an incredible deal on one thanks to the amazing folks as Serious Toyz. So that brings us to this, a massive gallery totaling over 100 images of this rare and unique set. We’ve done our best to show off each Guardian Beast, the combined Dinotanker mode, and the mighty Daizyujin & its’ glorious gold chromed Dinosaur Sword God Horn.

We’ve attached a pretty sizable selection of this images to this post, but the entire gallery can be accessed by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Super Dead Heat Drive Gallery

Posted on April 10, 2016 at 9:13 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Signal Bike/Shift Car!

One of the most unusual forms to come out of Kamen Rider Drive has finally arrived in figure form. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Super Dead Heat Drive is here for our latest gallery! This hodgepodge form only appears in the film Kamen Rider Drive Surprise Future, and the circumstances by which it exists are pretty dire. Without spoiling the film Shinnosuke is forced to use the Tridoron Key with a Mach Driver, to attain a body identical to Mashin Chaser but with a Type Speed style head.

The Super Dead Heat Drive figuart takes full advantage of parts reuse to recreate this form perfectly. Right down to a fully removebale Tridoron Key, as well as a gorgeously detailed new version of the Type Speed head. If you’ve experienced the Mashin Chaser body, then you’re familiar with this excellent figure. And luckily this release retains it’s compatibility with the Busou Chaser accessory set! However it does lack quite a bit in terms of it’s own accessories. But we made due with what we had already to give this figure it’s proper due!

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but we’ve got over 50 in the full gallery thread. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see the entire gallery & review! We’ll be back next time when the final announced (so far) Drive figuart is released, S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Chaser Mach!

S.H. Figuarts Gorisaki Banana Gallery 2.0

Posted on March 28, 2016 at 10:38 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

“Ryuuj!!!”

The TokuNation Gallery 2.0 project adds another entry today with another visit to Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters! Last week we posted our S.H. Figuarts Blue Buster gallery 2.0, so as a companion to that entry today we’re bringing you Ryuuji’s partner Buddyroid, S.H. Figuarts Gorisaki Banana!

Much like Nick Cheead, Gorisaki is a totally new mold for this line. A unique robotic gorilla (as the name implies), Gorisaki features articulation and posability that’s in line with what a person wearing a suit and acting as this character would likely have available. While the accuracy of this isn’t lost on me, it also hurts what the figure can do to a degree. Gorisaki also comes with no accessories at all, so the figure has to hit the mark perfectly. And while he may not have done so, Gorisaki undoubtedly is a fun figure with some great personality to him.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but the full 40 image gallery is view-able after the jump. As well as an in depth review into the pros & cons of this figures’ design. Just click “Discuss on The TokuNation Forums”. We’ll be backnext month with a final Gallery 2.0 for Go-Busters with the S.H. Figuarts Yellow Buster & Usada Lettuce 2-Pack!

S.H. Figuarts Blue Buster Gallery 2.0

Posted on March 25, 2016 at 9:06 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Let’s Morphin!

The TokuNation Gallery 2.0 initiative slowly marches on! It’s been a while since we posted one of our updated looks at a figure gone by. But today we’re back with the third in our series of do-overs for Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters with S.H. Figuarts Blue Buster!

First things first, Blue Buster is basically identical to the previously released Red Buster. The only mold difference is the helmet. If you have experience with this mold then you know it well. Admittedly it’s not perfect, there’s limited upper arm movement & especially difficult to swap hands. But Blue Buster is still a more than serviceable release with a great selection of accessories including the Sougan Blade, Ichigan Buster, & the combined Ichigan Buster Special Buster Mode! If you’re looking for another addition to your sentai figuarts display, this one is both inexpensive to acquire and still pretty great despite it’s flaws.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but the full 40 image gallery is view-able after the jump. Just click “Discuss on The TokuNation Forums”. We’ll be back in just a few days with yet another Go-Busters gallery 2.0 with S.H. Figuarts Gorisaki Banana!

Power Rangers The Movie Legacy Falconzord Gallery

Posted on March 20, 2016 at 11:38 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers

White Ninja Falconzord, Power Up!

Soaring into the Power Rangers Legacy collector’s line is a new release from the original Movie/Season 3 era of the franchise! The Power Rangers Legacy Falconzord is here for our latest gallery. But that’s not all. We’ve included a special comparison between this figure and the original Vintage Falconzord!

Now the Legacy Falconzord jumps the shark so to speak just a little bit. As a stand alone release for now, it’s isn’t compatible with any other Megazord, Legacy or otherwise, currently on the market. Instead the packaging cross sells lead us towards the impending Legacy Ninja Megazord. But without that we have to take this figure on it’s individual merits. While it does feature diecast metal feet (the only diecast parts) as well as a lavish paint job and articulated wings, that may or may not be enough to totally sell you on this as an individual release ranging from $59.99 t0 $79.99 depending on your Toys R Us’s current  pricing. But we’ve done out best to break it all down after the jump for you.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but there over 60 images in the full gallery/review thread. Feel free to browse them all by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.
