Ranger Key Set Metal Hero Edition Gallery

Posted on March 16, 2016 at 12:15 am by Den-O under Metal Heroes, Super Sentai

Gokai Change!

It’s the gimmick that just won’t ever fade away, Ranger Keys! Today we’re taking a look at just the latest set from Premium Bandai released in this 5 year old line of collectible trinkets. Today’s subject is the Ranger Key Set Metal Hero Edition!

This incredible new set seeks to fill out some long standing gaps in Ranger Key collection, following up on a Ranger Key set released 3 years ago to coincide with Super Hero Taisen Z. That set introduced 6 Metal Heroes into the line with Jiraya, Jiban, Draft Redder, Janperson, Blue Beet, & B-Fighter Kabuto. The Metal Hero Edition adds another 10 Metal Heroes to the line up with:

Gavan (Uchuu Keiji Gavan-1982)
Sharivan (Uchuu Keiji Sharivan-1983)
Shaider (Uchuu Keiji Shaider-1984)
Juspion (Kyoju Tokusou Juspion-1985)
Spielban (Jikuu Senshi Spielban-1986)
Metalder (Chojinki Metalder-1987)
Fire (Tokkei Winspector-1990)
Sol Braver (Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain-1991)
SWAT Sho (Blue SWAT-1994)
Gavan Type G (Uchuu Keiji Gavan The Movie-2012)

While that does indeed fill in most of the gaps for collectors, there’s still a few left that may irk some (mostly me). For now enjoy over 75 images of the Ranger Key Metal Hero Edition along with group shots comparing this set to the Ranger Key Complete Edition released for Super Hero Taisen Z. DX Zyuoh King & DX Cube Kirin Gallery

Posted on March 10, 2016 at 11:49 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Instincts Awakened!

TokuNation finally has the chance to present a long overdue gallery for the 4oth Super Sentai, Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger! The show is just about a month in and we’ve liked what we’ve seen so far, now we turn out attention to some of the first releases from the shows toyline with DX Zyuoh King & DX Cube Kirin!

While this series blocky designs and simplicity have been a big turn off for many fans the show is undoubtedly fun. As for the toys looks can also be deceiving. While simplistic each Cube Animal has it’s own charm. The Cube Eagle, Shark, & Lion that make up Zyuoh King may not appear to be much individually but when taken together it’s impressive to see how Bandai incorporated the Cube form, animal mode, and the mechanisms necessary to form Zyuoh King in each of them. Cube Kirin is a pint-sized addition meant to arm up your Zyuoh King with it’s bazooka form. Not much on it’s own, it’s a nice accessory to Zyuoh King.

We’ve got over 50 images of DX Zyuoh King as well as 20 more of DX Cube Kirin waiting for you after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see them all.

Posted on March 7, 2016 at 7:05 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Check out these covers for the upcoming comics from BOOM! Studios – Pink Ranger #1 (5 covers), and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #3 (5 covers). As always, there’s a chance (a pretty good one actually) that the numbers of covers will increase. As soon as we have details of how to get these incentives (aka the rarity and how many retailers have to order to receive them) we’ll pass word along.

Are you enjoying the comics from BOOM! Studios thus far? Check out all the covers by clicking the title of the story or simply by clicking here!

Power Rangers 2017 Main Cast Fully Revealed

Posted on March 3, 2016 at 7:40 pm by Paladin under Power Rangers, Power Rangers Movie

The first image of 2017’s team of cinematic teenagers with attitude is online! This gives us a great look at the new Movie Rangers in civilian dress.

Movie director Dean Israelite offers some comments about the (sadly still-unseen) hero suits for this film:
““We’ve really pushed ourselves to make them feel different from any other superhero costume that’s out there. One key that’s different to the Power Rangers suits is that they’re not really suits that people get into. They’re suits that morph onto our kids, so they already have this almost metaphysical quality to them.”

Israel also had this to say about the films’ villain, played by Elizabeth Banks:
“It’s very exciting that we got [Banks], and I think what she loves is the opportunity to really embrace the insanity and deliciousness of Rita Repulsa in terms of how weird and wonderful that character was, and really dive into and consume that character. You should always be off-balance when you’re watching her. Is she insane? Is she totally calculated? Does she know what she’s doing? Elizabeth can toe that line really well.”

Power Rangers premieres in theaters on March 27, 2017! Stay tuned to TokuNation as we keep you up to date on this exciting project!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #1 Review

Posted on March 2, 2016 at 9:00 am by Chris under Power Rangers

The time has come for fans of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – the official first issue (although Issue #0 was pretty much a FIRST issue … this is just another issue that happens to have the #1 attached to it) of the brand new comic by BOOM! Studios is here! Featuring what can only be called a near-record-setting line up of variant covers (27 total covers, we counted), the first issue hits stands after the enormous success of Issue #0 which launched back in January.

We got ourselves a copy and have done a full review – spoilers and all! Check out our review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #1 by clicking “Read More” at the end of the story. We’ve also included some images – but we’ve blanked out the word bubbles so you won’t have to worry too much about scene-by-scene spoilers.

Check out our review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #1 after the jump!

Super Sentai Artisan Rodeomaru & Chouzetsu Akaninger Gallery

Posted on February 28, 2016 at 10:58 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

Premium Bandai’s in house Super Sentai Artisan line continues with a new dual release! Today we get to take a look at the recently released Artisan Rodeomaru & Chouzetsu Akaninger 2-pack!

Rodeomaru & Akaninger are of course both new high end replacements for their DX counterparts. Rodeomaru offers a splendid new accurate robot mode with a healthy amount of die-cast metal or “gokin” parts thrown in for good measure. He also includes some replacement arms and shoulders to help recreate his combination with DX Bison King. And much like the previously released Artisan Shinobimaru he also included a to-scale Starninger figure!

Chouzetsu Akaninger on the other hand is a tiny yet articulated alternative to the figure included with DX Lion Ha Oh. While there are no metal parts present in this mini-figure, he does manage to include his Ninja Ichibantou as well as 2 adapter pieces to allow him to function with Lion Ha Oh.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but feel free to click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” to view the  full 50 image gallery!

Posted on February 26, 2016 at 5:14 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Yesterday, images of brand new Ranger Keys were unearthed by our friends at RangerCrew.com. This follows up with statements from Bandai America at this year’s Toy Fair stating that they would find out what was going on with the remaining Ranger Keys upon returning to their offices after the event. Some of these are really exciting to see – especially a certain American-Made Power Ranger yet to see retail outside of a convention exclusive release!  These new Ranger Key sets are as follows:

For many fans this will come as a big breath of relief as we will finally have many, many teams completed. However, we would like to point out that there are still a few Ranger Keys missing. The list below details all the remaining Power Rangers that have appeared on screen, despite how little air time they may have received.  Except for Boom.  Because come on, that was a dream sequence!

Missing Ranger Keys

  • Jungle Fury Elephant Ranger (US Ranger)
  • Jungle Fury Shark Ranger (US Ranger)
  • Jungle Fury Bat Ranger (US Ranger)
  • SPD Nova Ranger (finale)
  • SPD Kat Ranger (one episode)
  • Female Red Samurai Ranger (major story line of the entire show)
  • RPM Gold & Silver Ranger (split down the middle, appeared in Super Megaforce as an actual key)
  • Turbo Yellow Ranger

We have reached out to our contacts at Bandai America in hopes of getting more details on the authenticity of these (although we assume they are legit) images, as well as a possible release date and the status of the keys that would be missing listed above. Stay tuned!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Chaser Gallery

Posted on February 19, 2016 at 10:19 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Signal Bike! Rider! Chaser!

Everyone’s favorite hero turned villain turned hero again has finally joined the S.H. Figuarts line! It’s been a long time coming but the rider with the tightest pants, the sweetest ride, and the ax that looks both ways before crossing the road has arrived! Today we take a look at S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Chaser!

Chaser is final rider needed to complete the basic Drive trifecta. As one of the last few remaining scheduled releases for Drive, he’s absolutely one of the best. Chaser is a sleek back to basics design that goes for a more symmetrical look any of the Drive riders. Included with him is his packaged separately headcrest, 2 sets of hands, his Signal Ax, and an effect part for it to replicate the “stop” & “go” of his Full Throttle Across Breaker attack. After handling him for this gallery it’s safe to say that Chaser is an absolutely solid release that will look fantastic in your Drive display. It’s one of the best figures released in this sub-line.

We’ve attached a selection to this post but more than 65 images are present in the full gallery. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see them as well as a full review. And catch up on all of our previous Kamen Rider Drive S.H. Figuarts galleries below:
