BOOM! Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pink Comic Book Announced

Posted on February 17, 2016 at 2:08 am by Chris under Power Rangers

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book series by BOOM! Studios is so successful that they’ve chosen to release a limited series focusing on just one single Power Ranger … and that’s been announced before Issue #1 has even released yet!

According to the LA Times in an exclusive article, BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands have partnered to release a six issue limited series featuring none other than the original Pink Ranger titled “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink“. This limited series will focus squarely on Kimberly Hart, also known as the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger. With the recent success of both Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #0, as well as more female-central comic books like Squirrel Girl, Thor, Jem and the Holograms, and Spider Gwen it comes as no surprise to see a female-centered comic book release.

Your creative team behind the book is none other than Brenden Fletcher (Batgirl, Gotham Academy, Black Canaray) and Kelly Thompson (Jem and the Holograms, Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps) as writers, and the art duties will be belong to Daniele Di Nicuolo (Mirror’s Edge: Exordium).

The comic is slated to release in May 2016 and continue on for five additional issues. What do you think? Will you be picking it up? Also – no details on variant covers just yet, but if we were to make a wager, we’d say it’s a safe bet to plan on dropping some change to pick up more than a single cover.

14K Gold Plated Power Rangers Lost Galaxy Megazord Gallery

Posted on February 14, 2016 at 12:25 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Go galactic!

Agter some extensive coverage of this years New York Toy Fair, it’s to share a gallery with the community that we just could not wait on any longer.Power Rangers & Super Sentai collectors are no strangers to special edition repaints & limited releases. And often items in this category can become increasingly rare & expensive over time, but one release in particular is one of the most sought after pieces in Power Rangers history. Mostly because of it’s extremely limited release venue. Well today we have a rare opportunity to share with you a full gallery of the Deluxe 14K Gold Plated Galaxy Megazord! And we’ve also given it a side by side comparison with it’s closest Japenese counterpart, DX Black GingaiOh!

The Gold Galaxy Megazord was an expensive and limited release that was originally only sold at the now defunct FAO Schwartz retail chain. When these began surfacing in the early 2000’s many collectors simply didn’t believe they were real. At one time there were thought to be lass than 5 in existence as well, now that number has been proven to be closer to around 15+. Because of it’s limited nature and the authentic 14K gold used to plate it, this set has commanded high prices for years, luckily we were able to snag one for an amazing deal for this gallery.

We’ve attached a small selection of images to this post but please enjoy over 75 images of this magnificent set after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. It was an honor to be able to handle such a limited set and I hope the community enjoys getting a good look at it. I’ll be back soon with a look back at another sought after limited repaint as well, DX Black Daizyujin from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger!

Toy Fair 2016 – Power Rangers Legacy – Limited Edition Dragonzord and More

Posted on February 13, 2016 at 2:28 pm by Chris under Conventions, Power Rangers, Toy Fair

We have high resolution images of all the Legacy items on display from Toy Fair 2016! Check out the following images!

  • Limited Edition Black & Gold Legacy Dragonzord
  • Legacy Falconzord
  • Legacy Communicator
  • Legacy Communicator – Green & White Edition
  • Legacy Movie Morphers (Red, Pink, Blue)
  • Legacy Blade Blaster

Photography was not allowed for possibly the biggest reveal of the event – brand new Legacy figures! These will be 6 inches in scale (so on par with your S.H. Figuarts characters), feature extensive articulation, detailed paint applications, and will release later this year! They will release three assortments (waves) a year, and each year will feature two seasons worth. The first year’s releases will be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Ninja Storm. When we asked why those two, they stated Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is too iconic not to use, and Power Rangers Ninja Storm has to have a good reason (with a wink … for those who don’t get the reference, the next series is Power Rangers Ninja Steel).

The figures will also come with a “Build a Figure” type of accessory, allowing you to create the Megazord for that respective season. Shown at the show was the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Megazord – and it looks INCREDIBLE! As does the Legacy Mighty Morphin Green Ranger figure! The first assortment releasing this summer will contain Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, Blue Ranger, Ninja Storm Red Ranger, Ninja Storm Blue Ranger, Ninja Storm Yellow Ranger, and another figure from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (unknown which color at this time).

Check out all the images after the jump!

Toy Fair 2016 – Legacy 6 Inch Figures, Ninja Coins, and More Info

Posted on February 13, 2016 at 1:19 pm by Chris under Conventions, Power Rangers, Toy Fair

Our own Sentai Tamashii is at Toy Fair 2016 and spent some time with Bandai America. Here are some snippets of information while we await on pictures!

  • The Ninja Megazord on display was NOT the Legacy Ninja Megazord – it was the original toy, simply there as a placeholder.
  • Will retail between $80-$90
  • Legacy Figures – appear to be 6″ tall, more detail, not “powerful Rangers” style but still American muscle style
  • Female Legacy Figures have slits in skirts to allow figures’ legs to move
  • Each Legacy Figure will have a “build a figure” piece to build that season’s Megazord
  • 6th Rangers in the Legacy line will have more accessories instead of a “build a figure” piece
  • There will be 3 assortments released in a year, with 2 seasons per year
  • First year will be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Ninja Storm – thanks Ninja Steel influence!
  • Assortment 1 will be Ninja Storm Red, Blue, and Yellow, Mighty Morphin Red, Green and one other figure
  • Ninja Coins when?  Bandai America doesn’t want to let collectors down – still many more shows to reveal things at this year
  • Currently no other focus other than mainline toys and Legacy toys (sorry Ranger Key fans!)
  • Bandai America cannot discuss anything Movie 2017 related at this time.
  • Future Legacy release?  “All in due time” … stay tuned, still three big conventions this year (SDCC, NYCC, PMC)
  • Bandai committed to not letting girl fans down – there will be plenty of female oriented items released

Stay tuned for high res pictures from the event!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Deadheat Mach Gallery

Posted on February 6, 2016 at 11:59 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Rider! Deadheat!

We’re making a return trip to Kamen Rider Drive & the Dead Zone with the latest Tamashii Web Exclusive release from the series, S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Deadheat Mach!

Unlike Drive, the Deadheat upgrade wound up being much more significant for Mach. As Drive obtained Types Formula & later Tridoron, Deadheat became mach’s defacto power up for big battles. This figure takes the already awesome base that was Drive Deadheat and tweeks it just a bit for Mach’s version of it. A new head & Dead Heat Shift Car along with a Zenrin Shooter make up the major changes for this release. But it still includes the awesome broken berserk mode tire for Mach when he unlocks his true potential. It’s a very standard remold of a previous release, but still a great figure.

All in all S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Deadheat Mach is another excellent addition to this line of figures that I’d definitely recommend. We’ve assembled a 40 image gallery of this release and a full review for you to peruse after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to be taken to the full thread.

Power Rangers Dino Supercharge 5 Inch Snide Gallery

Posted on February 3, 2016 at 12:45 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

There’s a new villain in town and his name is Snide! And it’s up to the Power Rangers Dino Supercharge Rangers to stop him as he takes the reigns from the former villain, Sledge, in an attempt to gather the Energems and conquer the universe!

The character Snide may look familiar – and it’s because his Super Sentai counterpart, Neo-Geildon, is an upgraded from of the villain from the Super Sentai series Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger known as Geildon. Fans of Power Rangers know that villain better as Zeltrax from Power Rangers Dino Thunder. His only appearance was in the Go-Busters vs. Kyoryugers movie, making his appearance in Power Rangers Dino Supercharge an entirely new appearance for the character. Sadly, he shares no relation to the original Zeltrax.

The toy itself was part of the first wave of toys for Power Rangers Dino Supercharge although the assortments are all sorts of crazy – his most notable release was in the wave of figures that contained the Power Rangers Dino Supercharge Rangers with their Dino Steel modes (armored with their individual weapons).

Check out over 25 high resolution images of this character by clicking here or on the “Discuss on TokuNation forums” link as well as our review! What do you think of this figure? Do you share our opinions? Sound off!

Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters: S.H. Figuarts Nick Cheeda Gallery 2.0

Posted on January 31, 2016 at 8:23 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai

“I told you my name isn’t Bike!”

Here at TokuNation we’ve been slowly going back through our catalog of past galleries, picking out those that didn’t get the proper treatment the first time around, and giving them our gallery 2.0 treatment. And we’ve finally begun to pick up steam with our look back at Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters! Earlier this month we brought you a 2.0 gallery of S.H. Figuarts Red Buster, today we take a look at Hiromu’s trusted partner (and mode of transportation) S.H. Figuarts Nick Cheeda!

Nick came out a few years ago after Red Buster but was released as a Tamashii Web Exclusive. In fact the entire remainder of the released Go-Busters were distributed like this. Nick however was the first Buddyroid release, so he’s completely different from the other Busters. And as with many Web Exclusives of the time, Nick doesn’t include much other than an extra pair of hands and his Rear Wheel Guns, but really that’s all he needs. While the mold isn’t perfect, if you’re a fan of Go-Busters, he’s the perfect addition to your display.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the full 40 image gallery after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums”. Our 2.0 galleries from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters will continue next time with a renewed look at S.H. Figuarts Blue Buster!

Power Rangers Dino Supercharge Premieres TOMORROW – All Preview Images & Video

Posted on January 29, 2016 at 8:51 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

Tomorrow starts a brand new season of Power Rangers! The new season, titled Power Rangers Dino Supercharge, is the second season of Power Rangers Dino Charge. In our season finale last year, the Red Ranger defeated Sledge and sent him to his presumed end in the side of a mountain. But it looks like not everyone on the ship perished at the hands of the mountain – the villainous Heckyl, and his alter-ego Snide, have not only managed to survive but take control of the remaining monsters! And now they make their move on our heroes, who have split up following the season finale.

The premiere of Power Rangers Dino Supercharge airs tomorrow (Saturday, January 30th) on Nickelodeon! Check local listings for exact times.

Check out this video trailer below, encoded in part thanks to the people behind RangerCrew, as well as nine preview images courtesy both PowerRangers.com as well as The Power Force. Get your Dino Chargers ready to Unleash the Power and watch the season premiere of Power Rangers Dino Supercharge!

Talkin Toku Podcast – The Final Episode – Released

Posted on January 25, 2016 at 5:56 pm by Chris under Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

Just over two years ago, three friends got together and decided that all their conversations they were having on text messages could be translated to an audio format – like a podcast – and maybe people would be interested in hearing what they had to say. Fast forward two years and we’ve been incredibly humbled by everyone’s support and well wishes for our podcast – Talkin Toku Podcast – as we’ve slowly began to close shop.

Today is the day that we officially end the podcast.

But, to quote the immortal band Semisonic and their infamous goodbye song, “every new beginning comes from some other new beginning’s end” – and nothing could be truer. While the podcast comes to a close, we’ve been working behind the scenes on expanding our media footprint in the world. While we don’t have anything specifically to share or announce as of right now, please note that we’ve committed ourselves to new, engaging ways to bring to you the same humor and passion that you’ve come to expect.
