Ivan Ooze Vintage & Legacy Figures, Special 400th Double Gallery!

Posted on March 24, 2015 at 12:25 am by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

“Ladies and gentlemen, the ooze is back!”

TokuNation has been hard at work and finally we are proud to present our monumental 400th gallery special! That’s right! In just over 3 short years TokuNation has posted 400 toy galleries ranging various television series and toy lines. So in honor of today’s 400th gallery entry we’ve got a 2-for-1 for you. Gallery 400 features both the vintage Evil Space Aliens Ivan Ooze figure from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toyline AND the modern 5″ Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers Legacy toyline!

This double gallery features comprehensive reviews of these 2 unique figures as well as 40 images of each! We’ve even thrown in some comparison shots of the two together! With the 20th anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie mere months away, what better way could we begin our celebration of it than to bring you a double dose of one of the most often looked over villains in toku history! We’ve also attached a poll to the discussion thread after the jump, so sound off and let us know which Ivan Ooze you prefer to terrorize your Power Rangers collection!

Shuriken Sentai Ninninger April Special Episode- Ninja Sentai Crossover!

Posted on March 23, 2015 at 10:17 am by Paladin under Super Sentai

New listings for Shuriken Sentai Ninningers’ April episodes have come online. The most interesting one listed is the 7th episode, currently scheduled to air April 12, 2015:

Emissaries From the Past
Summary: Tsumuji (Takaharu and Fuka’s father) brings in Ninja Red and Hurricane Red to teach the Ninningers.

Three generations of Ninja Sentai united! And as a side note, if the 39th Super Sentai premiere had not been delayed by tragic circumstances, this episode would instead be airing on April 5th 2015– exactly forty years to the day when the Super Sentai franchise began with Himitsu Sentai GoRanger.

At the time no other details about this apparent crossover are known. Stay tuned to TokuNation as we keep you up to date on all Ninja news!

Straight of the back of his magazine reveal late last week, the Bandai Tamashii Web Shop has opened preordered for S.H. Figuarts Heart from Kamen Rider Drive! As probably expected this Roidmude leader is rather minimal on the accessories, with only three pairs of alternate hands listed.

Austin St John’s Raffle to Raise Funds for Survival’s End

Posted on March 22, 2015 at 10:51 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

We’re doing a series of updates on films starring or being created by former Power Rangers actors. And while TokuNation.com has avoided taking any public stance on any fan created films (due mostly in part to the sour taste left in everyone’s mouth due to one “film” in particular) we also think it’s only fair to inform our audience of these types of things because honestly – they’re pretty cool and we do hope they’re successful.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should know that Austin St. John, also known as the original Red Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as well as the greatest Power Ranger of all time, the Zeo Gold Ranger, is set to star in a post-apocalyptic world as a survivor who must lead other survivors to safety. The movie is called Survival’s End and the perks for donating to the campaign are interesting – everything from your name in the credits to a camping trip with the “OG Red” himself! Check out Austin St. John discussing the movie below.

We want to note – this campaign is considered flexible funding – no matter if they hit their incredibly high goal of ($275,000), any money you elect to donate will be given regardless if the goal is reached. But Austin St. John has taken things to a new level in the realm of fundraising – he’s selling raffle tickets for your chance to win a number of awesome Power Rangers collectibles, with his autograph on it, and a super rare opportunity to own the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger helmet that he’s been carrying with him for about a year or so now.

Click here to check out all the items available in the raffle! The money collected will go towards the creation of Survival’s End. To check out the Indiegogo for the movie, click here and look at your donation options.

Are you interested in seeing Survival’s End be made? What items from the list are you interested in buying a raffle ticket for? And what are your thoughts on more and more Power Rangers seeking your help in making movies? Sound off in our discussion thread!

Michael Copon’s Independent Movie Starring Power Rangers

Posted on March 22, 2015 at 10:37 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

We’re doing a series of updates on films starring or being created by former Power Rangers actors. And while TokuNation.com has avoided taking any public stance on any fan created (or in this case, Power Ranger created) films (due mostly in part to the sour taste left in everyone’s mouth due to one “film” in particular) we also think it’s only fair to inform our audience of these types of things because honestly – they’re pretty cool and we do hope they’re successful.

You may remember Michael Copon better as Lucas, the Blue Ranger from the future in Power Rangers Time Force. Thanks to his Indiegogo campaign, you can help him make his Independent Power Rangers Movie – basically, a film that stars former Power Rangers. Here is his launch video below.

Now we think it’s really important to note two things about this. For starters – this campaign is considered flexible funding – that means no matter if it hits it’s incredibly high goal of $200,000 (for reference, it’s barely at $8,000 right now) it will still take all the funds donated. If you donate to this project, it will still be deducted from your account regardless of whether or not this movie hits its funding goal. And second – this movie is NOT about Power Rangers. This project looks to star Power Rangers actors in an entirely new universe that doesn’t involve morphing, spandex suit fights, or giant robot battles (at least, not that we know of).

No matter what though – it would be cool to see a bunch of former Power Rangers actors doing a fun action-type film together. If you’re interested in donating to this campaign, click here and head to the campaign page. Since this project is indeed flexible funding, it gives the impression that this movie is going forward no matter how much (or how little) it brings in. We look forward to seeing new developments!

What do you think of this? Do you support projects like this? Or is your heart only in it when these actors wear the colored spandex in an official sense? Sound off in our discussion thread.

Talkin Toku Podcast Episode 025 Released

Posted on March 21, 2015 at 1:00 pm by Chris under General Tokusatsu News, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

It’s time for another episode of our official podcast – Talkin Toku! Join your hosts Kickback/Chris, Den-O/Jordan, and Sentai Tamashii/Tom as they embark on the first episode in over a month. Since their last episode, babies have been born, conventions have come and gone, and your favorite shows like Power Rangers Dino Charge, Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, and Kamen Rider Drive have all either premiered, continued, or had some interesting developments happen. And that’s where the hosts come in!

What are their initial thoughts on Shuriken Sentai Ninninger? Was it worth sitting through Ressha Sentai ToQGer to get to? And has Power Rangers Dino Charge lived up to the hype since the premiere? And just what the heck is going on with Kamen Rider Drive? They discuss it all – and in one of our favorite twists, the hosts share which show they have the least amount of problems with and knowing our hosts and the history they have with theses franchises, it’ll surprise you for sure.

There’s also toy talk – their thoughts on the DX Shurikenjin mecha from Shuriken Sentai Ninninger as well as Kickback’s thoughts on the roleplay items that he’s purchased. The hosts also discuss their thoughts on the Toys’R’Us listings for the Legacy Blade Blaster and Legacy VIP Dino Chargers Set, as well as what other Legacy items they’d like to see down the road (besides the obvious ones).

And finally – they go off topic and talk Hot Toys, various online stores, and the hobby they left that is slowly sucking them back in – Transformers. Come take a listen and leave your thoughts in the discussion thread by clicking here!
