under Ultraman

It’s time once again for TokuNation to plume the  depths of it’s newest segment, Toy Tuesdays! This time around we’re forgoing the spandex heroes and bug men in favor of the most venerable of toku hero franchise,s Ultraman! This week we spotlight the recently released Ultra-Act Ultraman Ginga!

Ginga is of course the titular hero of the Ultraman Ginga story featured in New Ultraman Retsudan! Returning soon in Ultraman Ginga S, this is the first collector’s style toy released from the first series. As a part of the long lived Ultra-Act line Ginga has had a lot to live up to, or rather he needed to live up to the quality of the more recent releases in the line. And does he ever! Ginga is by far one of the most dynamic entries in the line, this mold screams with personality.

Ginga is a little lite on the accessories, but as mentioned in our review of the figure, his most important accessory is actually all over his body. The Light Crystals mounted all over his body are fully removable, as are the head and shoulder pads, suggesting Bandai plans to release future accessory sets for Ginga’s other forms and powers! For once it seems Bandai/Tamashii Nations has really planned ahead with a new release. Depending on Ginga’s sales we could be in store for some great surprises in the future.

The long wait is over! After tons of anticipation and fan demand the mighty Legacy Dragonzord has finally been released! Though it’s been out for a little while now, this sought after piece tends to be hard to come by through regular retail. But TokuNation was lucky enough to get it’s hands on one for a full review & gallery!

The Legacy Dragonzord is of course an update the classic DX Dragonzord/Dragon Caesar toy from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger  toylines! Released at physical retail exclusively through Toys ‘R’ Us this figure is already hard to find much like the Legacy Megazord. Which speaking of, this figure is compatible with the Megazord! The Dragonzord is a fierce machine on it’s own, but combining it with your MMPR 2010 or Legacy Megazords can create the Dragonzord Battle Mode and Mega Dragonzord, the second of which will prepare you for the upcoming Legacy Titanus!

This update to the 20+ year old Dragonzord toy has been long awaited by fans of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and of the original Green Ranger. So how exactly does this figure stack up to the classic? And as a special mention for this gallery, TokuNation’s newest Photo & Content staff member ThatRangerGuy was kind enough to take a couple of comparison shots of the original DX Dragonzord & Legacy Dragonzord for us.

Though we’re still several months away from the return of new Power Rangers Super Megaforce episodes on Nick, TokuNation has a little something to get you through this dry spell. Spotted recently at retail across the country and having finally been snagged by staff members we thought it was time to share with you the Q-Rex Megazord Gallery!

The Q-Rex is the personal Megazord of the Super Megaforce Silver Ranger! Sent from the future by the Time Force Rangers this machine can transform into it’s own Dinozord, Drill, & Megazord modes! A tribute to 3 past shows (Mighty Morphin Powers, Dino Thunder, & Time Force) this Megazord shares physical attributes with many of those Megazords that came before it. Like the Dragon Zord, Thundersaurus Megazord, or the original Q-Rex! Based on the DX Gozyujin toy from Bandai of Japan’s Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger line the Q-Rex puts it’s own spin on the design with the inclusion of Bandai of America’s Zord Builder system. With a plethora of these connectors & ports strategically placed through out, this toy will be a welcome addition to your collection.

Well that certainly didn’t take long. Revealed just over a month ago, then announced for an early release at San Diego Comic Con this month, who would have thought we’d already see this figure at retail? But the hunt is on! @dimitridemel on Twitter just stumbled across the Power Rangers Legacy 5″ Lord Zedd figure! 

Found at the Brampton, Ontario Canada Toys ‘R’ Us this figure retails for for $16.99 CAD. And as we can see now, Lord Zedd also sports some very awesome vintage style Power Rangers packaging clearly modeled after the 8″ Mighty Morphin Power Ranger assortments of old.

UPDATED – A new back of box image confirms that the Power Weapons included with the 5″ Legacy Power Rangers will be able to combine to form the Powe Blaster!

A domestic US release should be happening any time now, but this is great news for Canadian collectors! For anyone unable to find it before SDCC, remember that Entertainment Earth will also have this shared exclusive for sale at their booth there later this month!

Did you bring your ticket? Because it’s officially Let’s Watch Wednesdays again here at TokuNation! And Kamen Rider Den-O is on the tracks!

The strain of 4 Imagin has finally begun to set in on Ryutarou. At the same time an old friend returns to town, of course a new character means a new Imagin is here to ruin the past! Specifically a past tied to Ryutarou’s own. And the revelation of the hooded man, of his past with Airi. The man known as Sakurai Yuuto. A watch, a solemn lake, the hooded man, and a stranger with a Ticket,  the past present & future are all colliding.

Fun Fact #6
Kintaros, is the 3rd Imagin to join the Den-Liner crew. And his incredible strength and kind heart are based on the legend of the Golden Boy, Kintaro! Kintaro is known to have a few minor differences in his origin, but they generally wind up with the young boy in the forests of Mount Kintoko.

It’s undisputed however that he was strong, fierce, large (or rather plump), and carried a hatchet from a very young age. He befriended the animals of the forests, some say he even learned their languages, he fought demons, sumo wrestled bears, cut trees, and generally was a rambunctious child. Tales of his strength have been spoken of for years since. Kintaros the Imagin bears the motif of a strong golden bear and carries the type of hatchet that Kintaro is most popularly thought to have had.

Kamen Rider Gaim toys just continue to flood the market! And today is no different, in this weeks installment of Toy Tuesdays @ TokuNation we’re bringing you a gallery of another of these recent releases in the form of S.H. Figuarts Sakura Hurricane!

Sakura Hurricane is of course the sweet sweet trans-dimensional hopping bike of our titular hero. Previously a “DX” lock seed style Lock Vehicle of this bike had been released by Bandai of Japan as a part of the Gaim main line of toys. But now collector’s finally have this wonderful addition for their collections. Though it doesn’t feature the spiffy transformation gimmick of the Lock Vehicles line, it does have a fantastic sculpt and a premium paint job. Though commonly for an SHF vehicle it’s lacking in the accessories department.

Just about a week ahead of it’s actual retail release, Bandai has released official images of Arms Change AC13 Kamen Rider Gaim Kiwami Arms!

We already knew the figure could utilize the Arms of other AC figures by simply removing the shoulder pads and cape.  But these new images show us that not only can the included dummy Kachidoki Armor be used to replicate the “cast off” style transformation to this form, but it actually appears to be a dial turn/spring loaded gimmick! By turning the dial the forward pieces will shoot off the figure! Weapons included with this figure are the DJ Gun in gun mode and it’s combined form, Taiken Mode.

This figure will be released in Japan on July 5th, that’s this weekend, for 3500 yen. For what’s expected to be the final retail release in the Arms Change line, it’s certainly going out with a bang!

Speculation has been buzzing about the introduction of a new Space Sheriff who will cameo in the upcoming Uchuu Keiji Sharivan Next Generation film and possibly in the Shaider film as well. Well speculate no more!

We finally have an image confirming Space Sheriff Estevan! (Or possibly spelled Esteban) Either way this new golden sheriff is ready to shine! Or is he? Take a closer look at this image and you’ll notice that his suit is a gold chrome repaint of Gavan Bootleg, who was featured in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger VS Uchuu Keiji Gavan The Movie! So is this redemption for the suit that once tried to kill the original Sheriff? We’ll know in a few months! For now we’ve included a few images of Bootleg for comparison.

And while we’re at it, the actor playing Estevan has also been confirmed. He’s none other than Ryoma Baba! Most familiar to toku fans as Ryuji Iwasaki AKA Blue Buster from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters!

On the Dino Charge side of things we have our very first look at the upcoming Dino Charge rangers 6-pack! But wait! That’s not a Gold Ranger in the 6th spot, but instead a villain. Astute fans of Kyoryuger will no doubt recognize this character as Dogold from the Deboss Army and understand why he’s been included in this set. His Power Rangers counterpart name has yet to be confirmed. Also included is the combined team weapon also yet to be named (Kentrospiker in Kyoryuger). And we also catch a glimpse of the Dino Charge Red Ranger mask from the Ranger Training set!

For Super Megaforce there’s actually quite a few new images to behold!

  • All of the Wave 4 Ranger Keys packs. Mighyt Morphin, Operation Overdrive, Alien Rangers, Jungle Fury, Dino Thunder, RPM!
  • 12″ figures of Megaforce Red & Super Megaforce Silver Rangers.
  • Ultimate Legendary Megazord 3-pack! This massive 3-pack will contain the Legendary Megazord, Q-Rex Megazord, & Turbo Falconzords all needed to create the final Ultimate combination!

Magazine scan time has come around once again for Kamen Riders this month! And it looks like this months’ main focus is the Kamen Rider Gaim movie, The Great Soccer Match! The Golden Fruit Cup! 

This newest set of scans from the film reveals some in action shots of new comer fighters Kamen Rider’s Mars & Kamuro. Also shown is Gaim’s Dark Jinba Arms in action, a selection of some of the new Arms Changes Gaim will be trying out in the film, and a team-up or two you may not ever have expected to see.

Overshadowing this though is one bombshell scan from from an upcoming episode of  Kamen Rider Gaim. MAJOR SPOILERS below so read on at your own risk:

Spoiler:
These scans show us the return of Takatora with his original Sengoku Driver, utilizing the Original Kamen Rider Zangetsu suit! He goes toe to toe in these scans with his brother Micchy still posing as Shin Zangetsu. Upcoming episode rumors say the outcome of this battle will see the elder Kureshima brother on top.
