under Power Rangers

Flying under the radar this week was an announcement from Bluefin Brands during what would have been WonderCon week on an upcoming release from Flame Toys.  While there is no release date and no production sample images to show there is a basic design image of an upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Megazord.

This model kit is roughly 7 to 8 inches tall, will fully transform and combine like in the show, and feature a range of articulation as seen in other Flame Toys model kits.

No release information is available though it will be distributed via Bluefin Brands and likely available wherever Bluefin Brands products are sold.  We’ll have more details when they’re available to share.

The hottest tokusatsu-inspired hero is one step closer to reality thanks to a successful Day One Kickstarter campaign.  Inferno Girl Red – a graphic novel written by Mat Groom and drawn by Erica D’Urso with colors by Igor Monti – is well over the 50% threshold on day one and will very likely see a successful campaign.

We’re thrilled to share with you a five page preview of the upcoming graphic novel.

The story is as follows:

We all need something to believe in.  Especially Cássia Costa.

An ancient cult and their army of demons have stolen Cássia’s home, Apex City.  When a magical dragon bracelet rockets into her life and affixes itself to her arm, Cássia’s the only person equipped to stop the cult from offering the entire city to their dark lord.

There’s just one catch…

The magical bracelet is powered by belief, and Cássia — an intensely pragmatic, rational girl – doesn’t have much to spare. She’ll have to find something to kindle her faith, though, and fast —because she has a secret legacy to live up to. Because her mother’s life is on the line. And because Apex City needs Inferno Girl Red.

The first time we met Cássia Costa was in the back pages of the first issue of Radiant Black.  Since then, we have seen various images and teases about an upcoming Kickstarter project.  Today, that project is now live!

Inferno Girl Red is a tokusatsu and superhero inspired comic book written by Mat Groom (SELF/MADE, ULTRAMAN), drawn by Erica D’Urso (JAMES BOND, XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, THE LIFE OF CAPTAIN MARVEL), colored by Igor Monti (MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, MEGA MAN: FULLY CHARGED), lettered by Becca Carey (WONDER WOMAN, BATGIRL, HARLEY QUINN, RADIANT BLACK), and edited by toku-famed writer Kyle Higgins (MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, RADIANT BLACK, NIGHTWING, THE WINTER SOLDIER, ULTRAMAN).

The next set of Kamen Rider Gaim Complete Selection Modification Lockseeds is coming and this time it is the Kureshima Lockseed Set, which will undoubtedly contain Lockseeds for both Kamen Rider Zangetsu and Kamen Rider Ryugen.

Of note – the teaser image for the Kureshima Lockseed Set is Kamen Rider Zangetsu in his Kachidoki Arms form – a form that was first featured on a stage show and later in the Kamen Rider Fan Club exclusive Gaim Gaiden story released a few months back.  Its inclusion will mark the first time any roleplay items for this form have been released (only a S.H. Figuart has been released).

The set will begin pre-orders via Premium Bandai Japan on April 6th.  While as of yet to be announced, we assume Team Kamen Rider and Bluefin Brands will also carry this item.  More details on the 6th!

It’s space time!

Everyone’s favorite space-themed Kamen Rider is headed for Bandai Hobby‘s Figure-rise Standard line of figures!  There are very few details available other than some nice looking teaser images but it get your Astro Switches ready as Kamen Rider Fourze finally – FINALLY – returns to forefront of merchandise release.

Count us in.

Remember when the joke was “everything before Kiva”?  Now it seems like everything is Kiva!  And we’re okay with that.  Tamashii Nations has announced the upcoming release of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Dark Kiva!  Of particular note – the figure comes with a cloth cape!  Kamen Rider Dark Kiva is due for release in August for the price of 8800 yen.  Reservations for this hot and in-demand figure open on Friday, April 2nd (or late Thursday, April 1st for the Western hemisphere) and the item is a general release, so check your favorite online stores.

Just when you thought your wallet was safe – Bandai‘s candy toy division comes out and smacks you and your wallet around a bit.  A new line – Shogukan Modeling Project – has showcased its first release – Gaoking!  And the images of this thing make it look fantastic.

Fans will be excited to know that Bandai intends to release every single combination of ‘Megazord’ for Gaoranger via the new Shogukan Modeling Project (SMP).  Pre-orders are now open – the three box set of Gaoking comes out to 5445 yen and releases in July of 2021.

Welcome to Hasbro Investor Day!

We’ve been waiting for this event for quite a while now. In fact, Hasbro took every opportunity to announce that their Investor Event will take place in a grand manner this year. No doubt to rectify for the absence of the usual Toy Fair this time of the year.

Hasbro is not alone this year. Toy giant’s in house entertainment production studio eOne will join Brian Golder and his team to talk about their entertainment offering for the coming year. Yes, you guessed it right: Transformers, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, My Little Pony, and many, many more.

Oh, one more thing: Joining the likes of Disney, Warner Brothers, and even ViacomCBS, the event will be live streamed across the world.
