Bluefin tease S.H. MonsterArts GMK Godzilla?

Posted on January 14, 2016 at 4:46 pm by ZeoRangerV under Godzilla

Despite Tamashii Nations delving into more and more properties in recent years, it’s been a rather quiet time for the S.H. MonsterArts line. After the exciting coverage of Godzilla‘s Heisei era and a quick delve into the Millennium films, Legendary Pictures 2014 film and even the Gamera franchise, the line seemed to stop altogether with only a few repaints trickling through.

However things may be about to change, with the Bluefin Tamashii Nations USA Facebook page teasing a release that’s sure to excite. After cryptically posting the poster for the 2001 film Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant All-Out Monsters Attack! (also known to fans as) on their Facebook page earlier in the week, today they have also released an image of foot looking rather like that of Godzilla’s. Better yet is that the accompanying post states that the foot is articulated, which hopefully indicates a fully poseable figure rather than a statue (a direction some have speculated the SMHA line may have been heading towards).

Is the 2001 GMK version of Godzilla about to join the S.H. MonsterArts line? Bluefin also revealed that the figure will be going up for preorder next week so be sure to check back for more news!

“The Ultraman” Anime Short Incoming

Posted on September 2, 2015 at 4:57 pm by ZeoRangerV under Ultraman

Earlier this year Studio Khara head and Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno held a Japan Animator Expo in association with media company Dwango. As you may or may not remember, among the shorts that were produced by various studios was the return of Denkou Choujin Gridman.

However the Japan Animator Expo is once again underway and it was recently announced that its 30th short will be based on The Ultraman manga by Mamoru Uchiyama. It will helmed by Hisashi Mori, who previously served as character designed on Digimon Adventure: Bokura no War Game.

The plot is described as follows:

In the spring of 1975, peace returned to the universe once more. But then members of the Ultra Brothers started being murdered by someone, one by one. The perpetrator was Jackal the Demonic Space Overlord.

Jackal was an alien defeated by Ultraman King and banished to spend an eternity in a black hole. Having returned, Jackal sent his armies to Earth to uncover any Ultra Warriors that may be hiding in humanoid form there. Jackal’s minions resorted to threatening to kill human beings held as hostages in order to force Ultra Warriors to reveal themselves.

Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a mysterious warrior wearing a suit of armor that obscured his identity appeared from the heavens…

The Ultraman is set to debut on Japanese streaming site Niconico this Friday!

New Robot Detective manga to start in September

Posted on August 14, 2015 at 12:49 pm by ZeoRangerV under General Tokusatsu News

Bessatu Shonen Champion magazine has revealed it will begin publishing a new manga series based on Shotaro Ishinomori’s Robot Detective series from September 12th. What makes this more exciting is that it will be helmed by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimaguchi – the writer/artist duo also behind the popular ongoing Ultraman manga series.

The Robot Detective manga had been previously announced at the beginning of 2014, alongside this promotional video from Toei.

The original television series ran in 1973 for a total of 26 episodes and starred the sharply dressed titular Robot Detective “K”. We’ll bring you more news on the new manga adaptation as it comes!
