New Image of Power Rangers 2017 Movie Suits Released!

Posted on July 19, 2016 at 9:41 pm by Den-O under Conventions, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

USA Today had the scoop on this new image in it’s roundup of upcoming events and things to look forward to at San Diego Comic Con 2016. In addition to the image of the 2017 Power Rangers Movie costumes, below is a brief description from their article:

What’s old is new again, and that’s especially true of Power Rangers (March 24), the youth-tinged big-screen update of the popular 1990s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers kids show and movie. For fans of a certain age, Star Trek has a 50th-anniversary panel — with former TV space captains William Shatner and Scott Bakula — followed by an Aliens 30th-anniversary event starring Sigourney Weaver, Bill Paxton and director James Cameron. Comedy Central’s South Park, which starts its 20th season Sept. 14, will feature an interactive exhibit celebrating 20 classic Park moments. Plus, fans also can get a look at reboots of TV favorites, with panels for Fox’s Prison Break and 24: Legacy and CBS’MacGyver.

So what do you think of the Power Rangers 2017 Movie suits? Are they shaping up to be better than you’d imagined? Are you apprehensive about them? Let us know in the comments below! We’re sure to see these suits and even more from the upcoming film this week at SDCC 2016!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider J Revealed!

Posted on July 11, 2016 at 1:42 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, Other Conventions

Long hoped for by collectors it seems we may be one step closer to finally having S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider J! J, is currently on display at Chara Expo 2016 in Singapore. An unexpected reveal for sure, we currently don’t have estimates on release date or pricing for J. For all we know he could disappear in to the vault of unreleased prototypes, but let’s hope not.

You may recall Kamen Rider J as the last of the trilogy of 90’s rider movies including Shin & ZO. Created after the official Showa period ended these three riders are still classified with their earlier predecessors rather than the Heisei segment of the franchise. If J is indeed released then that means the Showa era of Kamen Rider will officially be complete in figure form. All 15 main Showa riders will at least adorn your shelves together.

So what do you think about this reveal? Will it finally fill that longstanding hole in your collection? And as is often the question, where is Kiva, the long missing Heisei Rider? Sound off in the comments!

SDCC 2016 Panel Announcements – BOOM! Studios, Shout! Factory

Posted on July 8, 2016 at 11:09 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

San Diego Comic Con 2016 is less than two weeks away and the panel information is beginning to be released! We’ve been keeping our eyes out for any Power Rangers panel news (what with the movie cast mentioning they’d be at the show this year) and so far we haven’t been disappointed – there’s two panels on Friday, July 22nd that deal with or probably deal with the Power Rangers!

First off – at 11:30am in room 5AB is the BOOM! Studios Power Rangers panel with host Yoshi Sudarso:

In January, BOOM! Studios launched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a new comic series based on Saban Brands’ hit ’90s live-action children’s TV series about a group of ordinary teenagers who “morphed” into superheroes to save the world from evil. Series writer Kyle Higgins, cover artist Goñi Montes, The Ongoing Adventures of Bulk and Skull writer Steve Orlando, editor Dafna Pleban, Saban Brands director of development and production Melissa Flores, and Saban Brands director of global consumer products Jason Bischoff talk about the series, the spinoff Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink, and the everlasting popularity of these “teenagers with attitude.” Moderated by stunt performer and actor, long-time Power Rangers superfan, and Blue Ranger on the current season of Power Rangers Dino Super Charge, Yoshi Sudarso. Plus everyone in attendance will receive a free Power Rangers item!

That’s right – the Dino Charge Blue Ranger is hosting! One can only imagine how much fun that panel is going to be. We will do our best to be there to cover it!

And later on that same day at 8:00pm in room 29AB is the Shout! Factory and Scream Factory panel:

Brian Ward (DVD producer) and Jeff Nelson (senior marketing director) make exclusive announcements, deliver sneak peeks of video from upcoming releases, and more.

Brian Ward likes to drop news on Power Rangers DVD releases in these panels. Will we get an announcement of Power Rangers Dino Thunder season set, or possibly something else related to Super Sentai? Stay tuned to TokuNation.com for your complete SDCC 2016 coverage!!

BOOM! Studios SDCC 2016 Exclusive Power Rangers Covers

Posted on July 1, 2016 at 12:31 am by Chris under Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

The stylish covers that began it all a year ago when BOOM! Studios first acquired the license for Power Rangers comics will come to an end at this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2016. Finishing off the very impressive cover art of the Rangers holding their helmets will be an Armored Black Ranger. This is, ironically, the second time the Armored Black Ranger has been a SDCC exclusive (circa 2014).

A second cover is exclusive to the show as well – which combines with three other covers to become one large splash page of artwork. If you’re going to be at SDCC 2016 this year, swing by BOOM! Studios booth 2229 and grab yourself one of the exclusive covers!
