Talkin Toku Episode 009 – Attack of the No No Cat

Posted on May 8, 2014 at 12:07 pm by Chris under Conventions, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, Power Morphicon, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

The boys of the Talkin Toku Podcast are back at it with the release of their 9th episode, Attack of the No No Cat (blame Tom for that one). Join your hosts Kickback (Chris, @rankal), Den-O (Jordan, @DenO_Tokunation), and Sentai Tamashii (Tom, @SoulInkChu) as they touch on a number of topics from last week in the world of tokusatsu!

Some of the hot topics discussed – their reactions on the international trailer for the new Godzilla movie, their thoughts on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic from Free Comic Book Day and just why Saban Brands did nothing to promote it (as well as some behind-the-scenes knowledge in the world of comics from our very own Sentai Tamashii, who works a freelance colorist and has done jobs for Marvel, DC, IDW Publishing, and Archie Comics), some good old fashioned toy talk with Kachidoki Arms and S.H. Figuarts Kyoryu Gold, and the usual show talk of Kamen Rider Gaim and Ressha Sentai ToQGer. But there’s even more stuff that’s discussed throughout the episode, including the No No Cat, spooky haunted microphones and/or alien contact, follow up on our last toy debate on Tamashii Nations and Super Sentai Figuarts, and so much more. Take a listen below!

Kickback also discusses the Fruit Henshin Contest and some details of the upcoming crossover episode with our good friends from the Ranger Command Power Hour Podcast scheduled for later this month. All the show details are below – do us a favor and click “Discuss” and share your thoughts! Till next time!

SDCC 2013 Exclusive Gold-Plated Legacy Morpher Gallery

Posted on April 24, 2014 at 12:43 pm by Chris under Conventions, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

It’s Morphin Time!

When Bandai of America first announced the 20th Anniversary Legacy Morpher, the first thing most fans and collectors asked was if and when we would ever get a Green & White Ranger version. As we know by now, we would have a Toys’R’Us release of the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger and White Ranger hit shelves early in 2014. But before we had that, the only option was the elusive and very pricey San Diego Comic Con 2013 Exclusive Gold-Plated Legacy Morpher.

Limited to 1000 pieces and available only at San Diego Comic Con 2013, this version of the morpher was, for a small time, the most sought over Power Rangers merchandise quite possibly in the history of the franchise. I remember when I purchased mine I had offers for double or triple what I paid for as I walked past a line of hopeful attendees.

TokuNation.com is proud to be present to you a high resolution gallery of over 50 images of this exclusive piece of merchandise, with comparison shots to the mass retail version. If you have any additional picture requests, please post them in the discussion thread. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy this (in my opinion) beautiful exclusive!

S.H.Figuarts SDCC Super Samurai 5-pack Gallery by Jmann

Posted on December 11, 2013 at 11:41 pm by Den-O under Conventions, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

Photo  & Content contributor Jmann is back with another awesome gallery and this time it’s a big one! The Super Samurai 5-pack is a 2013 SDCC exclusive that contains the entire team of rangers. But that’s not all, they’re all decked out with a sweet metallic paint scheme and have their full compliment of accessories!

This Power Rangers Super Samurai set contains not one but 4 Tamashii Web Exclusive figures, and a general retail release, in an exclusive paint scheme, with tons of accessories, all for a great price. Aside from Super Shinken Red the other 4 rangers all fetch hefty prices on the secondary market even today!

Check out Jmann’s full gallery by clicking here or clicking Discuss on the tokunation forums at the bottom of this article.

Bluefin Hints at SDCC 2014 Exclusive – SH Figuarts MMPR Armored Black Ranger

Posted on October 17, 2013 at 1:36 pm by Chris under San Diego Comic Con

Internet personality Vangelus interviewed Bluefin Tamashii Nations regarding their business and how exactly SH Figuarts Mighty Morphin Power Rangers happened. He asked if we could ever see an armored Black Ranger, based on the Season 1 episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers where the Black Ranger took the Dragon Armor from the Green Ranger to battle the Oysterizer.

At around the 4:34 mark, Adam Newman and Xaiver Lim from Bluefin have what is can only be described as a scripted banter back and forth about “Hey, we should do that as a SDCC exclusive and package it with this!”.

Check out the interview below.

What do you think? Do you want an SH Figuarts Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Armored Black Ranger?

**It should be noted that the Armored Black Ranger and Shieldless Green Ranger these particular figures would be based on only appear in the Zyu2 footage created by Toei, for Saban, to increase the episode count of MMPR. Though Dragon/Green Ranger has appeared at other times without the shield he still included his arm bands. Technically speaking this would make these the first ever US exclusive rangers or variations on a standard costume to be made into SH Figuarts! A small step in the direction of Battlizers, Spirit Rangers, Titanium, and more!

Blufin Premium Web Shop Opens, Featuring SDCC Exclusives!

Posted on August 31, 2013 at 8:24 am by Paladin under San Diego Comic Con

Bluefin has apparently decided to open its own online storefront for future releases!

At the moment the merchandise offered is minimal aside from some remaining San Diego Comic-Con exclusives- including the SH Figuarts Samurai Sentai Shinkenger figure pack!

Buyers interested in future Tamashii releases should probably keep an eye on this new page for early deals. :)

Thanks to member OPTICS for the heads-up!

Bandai SDCC News Roundup!

Posted on July 23, 2013 at 7:21 pm by Paladin under San Diego Comic Con

With the San Diego Comic Convention over, a few final details surrounding the various news and progress from Bandai have been cleared up thanks to our attending representatives.

Hopefully these answers should clear up some questions fans may have:

– Power Rangers Monopoly’s board graphic contains some Sentai Rangers that were not ever Power Rangers. This was accidental. The background behind the new images of classic Rangers is lifted straight from the Legendary War Sentai footage. Their existence should be considered a nod to Sentai and nothing more, said Saban Brands when the image was discovered.
– The decreased size of the Gokaiger toys for Super Megaforce was to keep them affordable and because here they are meant for kids. The keys are smaller so they would be cost effective, but the springs work as good if not better than the Gokaiger keys. There was no confirmation if US Rangers would receive keys or not because they are still in prototype stages at this time. The Legendary Megazord is smaller and less complex to be affordable for parents as a kids you and to incorporate the “build a zord” feature that Bandai states is a popular and successful feature for the toyline. It makes each zord playable with older zords. There was nothing they could say about Gokai Silver’s zord at this time.
– The Legendary Morpher (Mobirate) is planned to have electronic features but no details at this time as to what or if it’ll call out specific Rangers or seasons
– Saban Brands credits a lot of the resurgence of Power Rangers to the fan sites and wants us all to know it doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.
– Bandai acknowledges a lack of preparedness for their SDCC product and plans to be more prepared at NYCC which will feature yet to be annouced exclusive(s)
– There are no plans for SDCC product to be released at retail at this time
– Legacy Dagger is due in 2014. There is no definite date set for Legacy Dragonzord as it is still in early stages (hence no product to show)
– While the entire fandom knows tons about Super Megaforce, no one is truly ready to talk about it except that there’s planned product to be released. Not even the cast would talk about it, instead choosing “I don’t know what you’re talking about” in a sly and over-exaggerated tone
– Through a mis-click in Bluefin Tamashii’s survey at SDCC, what we saw at the time was Power Rangers Zeo leading the “what team do you want to see as SH Figuarts” question. That was at one point on Sunday as 130,000 people walked through the convention halls, so do not take that as anything remotely definite. Just fun to know and speculate.
