Toei Channel Japan Price and Cable Package Details

Posted on September 11, 2013 at 11:26 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

Toei has announced that the recently revealed Toei Japan Channel, which aims to bring streaming footage of their Japanese station over to the states, amonst other content, will be requiring users to pay $20 a month for the use of the service.

If things go over well, we’ll likely be seeing English subtitles, official subtitles, for some of our favorite shows.

Personally, I’d love to support this but I cannot afford another $20 a month on top of my other expenses, especially not to watch programming I have no way of understanding. Definitely want to see this succeed though, even moreso if it means we can get officially subbed releases on dvd/bluray.

"Toei Japan Channel" Being Tested In US Markets?

Posted on September 6, 2013 at 10:14 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

The latest news story on TVAshi features an interesting new venture buy Toei- a pay channel on US networks that will air several types of tokusatsu and anime programs.

While initial broadcasts will air raw programs, Toei will consider adding English sups to their programs after the first year if the channel proves successful.

This could be a fantastic new opportunity for toku fans to actually watch streaming shows with the first-ever licensed subtitles in the history of Toei Entertainment.

Stay tuned to TokuNation for further details!

VR Troopers Season 2 Volume 2 Release Canceled?

Posted on August 29, 2013 at 5:10 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

The good people at RangerCrew have noticed the removal of Shout! Factory’s “Season 2, Volume 2” VR Troopers product listing from Amazon.com and expects cancellation emails to be sent out in the near future.

Coupled with previous reports from Shout! Factory about unsatisfactory sales figures for VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs means that home releases of both final sets is unlikely at this point. :(
