Big Bad 6″ Blue Stinger Beetleborg Gallery by conundrum

Posted on December 28, 2013 at 9:15 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Metal Heroes

Photo & Content contributor conundrum is back yet again with a new gallery from Big Bad Beetleborgs! Today he takes a look at the 6″ Blue Stinger Beetleborg!

The figure is an import of the Blue Beet figure from Bandai of Japan’s Juukou B-Fighter toy line, released by Bandai of America in 1998.All in all, it is still a solid figure, even by today’s standards. The articulation for the most part is decent, but the fantastic metallic blue and chrome paint job the figure has more than makes up for it. The paint is a double-edged sword though as it is almost impossible to find a used Beetleborgs figure without any wear to the metallic paint or chrome.

No one knows if the B-Fighters/Beetleborgs will ever get the S.H. Figuarts treatment, but in the meantime, the figures from Bandai of America’s 6 inch line are an excellent placeholder in any collection.

Check out the full gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” to see theentire gallery for this figure. And why not have a look at conundrum’s previous gallery of the 12″ Special Edition Blue Stinger Beetleborg as well to get your fix for the Big Bad Beetleborgs!

Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog: Rohan, Knight of Fire Gallery by conundrum

Posted on December 24, 2013 at 1:18 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News

Did you know that 2013 actually marked the 15th anniversary of the very awesome Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog? Well Photo & Content contributor conundrum is certainly here to remind us with this gallery of the Mystic Knight of Fire, Rohan!

Mystic Knights was a rare breed of tokusatsu indeed. An American/Irish co-production created by Saban Entertainment based loosely on Irish myths and aimed at the same audience that watched such shows as Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and Masked Rider. The show itself only lasted a single 50 episode season as it’s second season budget was instead allocated to Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. The show however is still special for many fans because of it’s unique take on the genre and the toyline itself is really pretty great and still affordable to collect even now.

Check out conundrum’s full selection of images by clicking this link or “Discuss on the TokuNation forums” at the bottom of this post! We’ll be bringing you at least a couple more Mystic Knights galleries this month, and next up will be the Mystic Knight of Air, Deirdre!

Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad Samurizing Synchro Gallery by conundrum

Posted on December 15, 2013 at 1:14 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News

Our resident lover of 90’s tokusatsu far and wide conundrum is with us once again to share yet another gallery from Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad!

Adapted from the Tsuburaya series Denkou Chojin Gridman this show had the honor of having some of the best DX transforming sets around. However there were also some smaller more affordable Samurizing sets released here in the US that while not as complex as their DX brothers, definitely get the job done. At the lower price point and looking as good as they do these sets are great alternatives even now to the more expensive DX’s.

The Synchro Samurizing Set contains Servo and the 3 vehicles Borr, Tracto, and Vitor that allow him to become Synchro. You’ll see it scales especially well with Gridman Ultra-Acts if you’re on a budget. Seet the full gallery of this figure by clicking this link or by clicking the “Discuss on the Tokunation Forums” link at the bottom of this post!

Posted on December 14, 2013 at 8:55 am by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

Since the end of Superhero Taisen Z, Toei has been strongly hinting at the return of Ishinomori’s other classic cyborg hero, Kikaider.

Recently, Kadokawa publishing (the group behind the recent Kikaider novelization) has confirmed that a new Kikaider movie will premiere next year. Exact details are still not confirmed.

Ryujin Mabuyer to be Adapted in Malaysia

Posted on December 3, 2013 at 9:21 pm by Chris under General Tokusatsu News

Thanks to our forum member irsyadsway we can tell you that a lesser known tokusatsu known as Ryujin Mabuyer is going to be adapted in Malaysia!

Ryujin Mabuyer follows the adventures of a local hero of the Okinawa Prefecture. A local hero is a tokusatsu hero who is based around a certain region or a certain prefecture in Japan, and tends to be based off local mythologies and industries. They are not as big as Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, or Ultraman, but they do have dedicated followings.

Ryujin Mabuyer last saw a theatrical release in 2012, but aired 39 episodes spanning from 2008 to 2010. The Malaysian adaption will be filmed in Japan with many new scenes being filmed, and star a Malaysian cast. The series will air in 2014 at 7:30pm on TV3.

“Toei Japan Channel” Project Canceled?

Posted on November 28, 2013 at 9:16 am by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

A few months ago we reported the possibility of Toei branching out into US networks with a new cable channel.

Now it seems the project has come to an abrupt end. Henshin Justice received notice that the selected distributor, MyGlobe TV, will not be carrying the channel as expected.

Unless some new developments occur, it seems unlikely that this project will ever get off the ground.

NECA Pacific Rim Series 2 Leatherback Gallery

Posted on November 20, 2013 at 8:05 pm by Chris under General Tokusatsu News

In Pacific Rim, the Kaiju Leatherback is a massive category IV sized creature that wreaks havoc on the heroic Jaegers and the whole of Hong Kong.

The designers at NECA accurately capture the look and bulk of Leatherback with the figure released in Series 2 of their Pacific Rim line.

The figure stands at approximately 8 inches with it’s ‘hunched’ posture and has a surprising 24 points of articulation. This includes individually moving claws, ankles, and a hinged jaw. Leatherback weighs in at a ridiculous 1 pound, 6.5 ounces, over 3 times the weight of Gipsy Danger. Despite the weight and size of each arm, they can still be posed in a variety of ways (given your figure has tight joints).
