Kamen Rider Zi-O: DX Time Mazine Gallery

Posted on November 11, 2018 at 6:36 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Time Mazine!”

The massive mecha known as the Time Mazine is the last line of defense between the rebels of 2068 & the dark overlord Oma Zi-O. These mass produced defenders have even been known to be used by the Time Jackers… Sougo Tokiwa was given access to one thanks to Tsukuyomi travelling back in time from this bleak future. A means of travel to the eras of the legendary riders that preceded him, Sougo as the present day Kamen Rider Zi-O will gain the powers of the past to save (or dominate) the future!

DX Time Mazine is the big DX toy of the line this year. In years past it was preceded by things like Captain Ghost, Tridoron, Suika Arms, and Wizardragon. While we don’t get to see a lot of the big items each year because of CG costs, Time Mazine is used fairly often actually. The DX toy winds up being one of the best articulated mecha we’ve gotten in a while (take that Sentai!) and is completely interactive with the Ride Watches of the toyline. This figure is also scaled to work with the Rider Kicks RKF line and even transforms to vehicle mode!

We’ve attached the full gallery of DX Time Mazine to this article, but you can also read up on our full review of the figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Later this week, we’ll be back with the legendary warrior, S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Cronus!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider GenM God Maximum Gamer Level Billion Gallery

Posted on November 8, 2018 at 3:24 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“It’s time. Finally, I will become the god amongst all gods!”

In a bid to create the ultimate game Zombie Chronicle, and restore the data of all those lost to the Bugster Virus, Kuroto Dan has obtained the power of god. Using the God Maximum Mighty X Gashat, Kuroto ascends to become Kamen Rider GenM God Maximum Gamer, Level Billion! And this unique S.H. Figuart has quite a a history to it.

GenM Level Billion is an all new mold, and honestly a surprising release. It’s been a couple years since Ex-Aid aired, and despite this we’ve still yet to see a number of Ex-Aid’s forms in S.H. FIguarts. But Kuroto Dan’s massive popularity continues to drive new releases for him, including this one. A repaint of an Ex-Aid figure that actually has still yet to release! Level Billion is a big beefy, and surprisingly well articulated figure that shine’s with GenM’s personality. The included extra hands and Gashacon Key Slasher also compliment the figure nicely.

We’ve attached the full gallery to this article. but you can also read our full review with this figure’s interesting background by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Following up from what will for now be the last GenM gallery, next time we tackle his father, S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Cronus!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider GenM Action Gamer Level 0 Gallery

Posted on November 4, 2018 at 6:30 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Grade Zero.”

The mighty Kuroto Dan has returned! Evil CEO turned Dangerous Zombie, now the one true Game Master has returned as Bugster! Revived thanks to Poppy the new Kuroto has 99 lives and all the time in the world to seek revenge on Kamen Rider Para-DX as well as his father Masamune. Back from the dead, this is our gallery & review of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider GenM Action Gamer Level 0!

GenM has made a couple outings in this line as Level 2, Level X, and even Level Billion at this point, but Level 0 is the first one to truly cash in on Kuroto’s massive popularity. A very minor repaint of Level 2, Level 0 includes a ton of new accessories like the Bug Visor Zwei, a God Kuroto Dan effect sheet, Life Point Counters, and even a Gashacon Breaker Blade. Even as similar as they are, this release does a fantastic job of setting itself apart. But is it really worth those Tamashii Web Exclusive dollars? Check out our gallery & review to find out!

The entire gallery is attached to this story, but you can also read our full review by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNaiton Forums” at the bottom of this post. Later this week we’re bringing Kuroto back one more time with a gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider GenM God Maximum Gamer Level Billion!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Rogue Gallery

Posted on October 28, 2018 at 12:56 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Crocodile in Rogue!!”

Gentoku Himuro lusted for power and conquest as the monstrous Night Rogue. But undergoing savage trials at the hands of Utsumi Nariaki & Blood Stalk. Gentoku would be reborn. Cured of the Nebula Gas influence, Gentoku remembered what it meant to fight for his country. It was only a matter of time before his heart was free to fight for his people, and his father’s memory. Though he once struck fear into our heroes hearts, Gentoku would now fight for love and peace as the dangerous Kamen Rider Rogue!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Rogue is another really stylish addition to the ever growing family of Build Figuarts. It’s unique color scheme and design really do stand out with the other riders in the line. The first Crocodile rider, (though we have seen an Alligator before!) Rogue does an excellent job subtly showing off it’s theme from the clawed feet, to the “Cracked” helmet. Rogue includes his signature Nebula Steam Gun, Transteam Blade, and even the Hell Bros’ Gears. It’s honestly the full package.

We’ve attached the full gallery to this post, but you can also see our full review after the jump, by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’ll be back with the first of several galleries diving back into the world of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Amazon Gallery

Posted on October 13, 2018 at 4:46 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“A-MA-ZOOOOOONNNNNNNNNN!”

7 years ago, the original S.H. Figuarts Amazon was released, we reviewed it in 2016. Looking back now, that Amazon is an extremely dated figure. Even though for it’s time it was a fantastic addition to any collection, today Bandai spoils us with so much more. Just released this month is the long awaited modern update for Amazon, S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Amazon!

The Shinkocchou Seihou subline has thus far been excellent, there’s no way to diminish how truly wonderful it’s been. But Amazon really ratchets things up. This is by far my favorite release in the line thus far, and one that really goes the distance to recreating the suit and character to near perfect detail. An excellent looking figure at the very least, Amazon also has a wealth of articulation that the original figuart lacked. While it may lack something in the accessories department, there’s no doubt that this is the definitive figure of Kamen Rider Amazon!

You can enjoy 70+ images of Shinkocchou Seihou Amazon after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Coming up soon, a fresh batch of galleries from Ex-Aid, Build, Amazons, and W!

SDCC Exclusive Soul Of Chogokin SOC GX-72B Black Megazord Gallery

Posted on October 2, 2018 at 10:40 am by Den-O under Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“We need Megazord power, NOW!”

SDCC had some powerful exclusives for Power Rangers collector’s this year. Exclusives that are now making the rounds at a number of North American conventions such as Fan Expo Canada and New York Comic Con. Today, we’re taking a look at by far the most spectacular of these exclusives with the SOC Soul of Chogokin GX-72B Black Megazord!

The Black Megazord/Daizyujin is an elaborate repaint of the original SOC release, primarily in black, with a plethora of gorgeous gold trim, green accents, and silver chrome. This color scheme is directly inspired by and meant to compliment the Soul of Chogokin Dragonzord/Dragon Caesar, which is a bit of a different take on the black repaint tradition than we usually get for MMPR or Zyuranger. Each of the Zords functions identically to the first release, but they look so spectacular in these new colors. We’ve included a number of comparison shots with the first release, with some fun mix & match possibilities as well.

Attached are 120 images of this gorgeous set. You can also read up on our full review of SOC Black Megazord in the full gallery thread by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. And don’t worry if you’ve missed one of it’s various con releases either, it’s being made available through the Tamashii Web Shop in Japan next year as well.

TokuNation Reviews Redman: The Kaiju Hunter Volume 1

Posted on September 13, 2018 at 9:50 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

“Reddo Fight!”

In 1972, Tsuburaya Productions commissioned a new spin-off from their popular Ultra Series. Curious, quirky, and quite violent, Redman joined the Nippon TV Ohayo! Kodomo variety show.  Serialized in 138 5-minute episodes, Redman faced off against countless Kaiju from across the various Ultra series which had aired by this time. Mercilessly, Redman would dispatch these Kaiju with little to no context outside of what magazine text stories and interviews could provide.

Flash forward to 2018, the superstar creative team of Matt Frank & Goncalo Lopes have resurrected this red warrior for a brand new series of Graphic Novels. The first of which, Redman: The Kaiju Hunter Volume 1, was recently released in July. Taking this obscure but classic character and helping to re-imagine his backstory as so much more than it was previously, Frank & Lopes have crafted a modern classic.

Here at TokuNation we were fortunate enough to be provided a promotional copy of Volume 1 for review.  Click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post and you can read our full review of Redman: The Kaiju Hunter! Let us know what you think of the series if you’ve had a chance to read it as well!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Joker Gallery

Posted on September 10, 2018 at 10:54 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Looks like the trump card, always comes my way.”

The race for the T2 Gaia Memories is on! As Kamen Rider Eternal and NEVER descend on Fuuto, Kamen Rider W will be temporarily out of commission! With Phillip captured, can Shotaro save the day on his own? With a little help from the Boss, this hardboiled hero will take on a new role, as Kamen Rider Joker!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Joker is yet another lavish do-over from Bandai. Chipping away at the forms and variations of Kamen Rider W in their premium renewal line, Joker was released as a Tamashii Nations event exclusive last year. It was also made available in mid-2018 via the Tamashii Web Shop. While it’s undoubtedly an easy repaint, and definitely has a dearth of accessories, it’s certainly a form that brings it’s style A-game.

While we’ve attached the full 55+ image gallery to this post, you can also read up on our full review Kamen Rider Joker. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to be taken to the full thread. Next time, we FINALLY tackle the big SDCC Exclusive of this year with the SOC Black Megazord!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Build Rabbit Tank Sparkling Form Gallery

Posted on September 1, 2018 at 4:59 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Effervescent Burst! Rabbit Tank Sparkling!”

Using the essence of Pandora’s Box, Sento Kiryu has managed to create a new power-up item to rival the revealed Blood Stalk! This dazzling new form that shocks even Souichi Isurugi, maximizes Build’s speed and strength and will even drive the fearsome Night Rogue into hiding. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Build Rabbit Tank Sparkling Form bursts onto the scene!

Build Sparkling is another fantastic outing for this mold, slightly modified from it’s previous two outings as Build & Cross-Z. It’s a form I didn’t initially expect to want to own, but you a know a fantastic show has a way of changing my opinion on things like that. In hand Sparkling is a really dynamic and interesting new take on the mold, though it’s sadly very lite on accessories. Including 10 hands (not all in matching pairs either!) Sparkling can interact with all the goodies included in the Parts Set with the Machine Builder though.

This gallery clocks in at just over 65 images, all of which are attached to this post. You can also read up on our full review of the figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’ll be back with  a gallery of the Tamashii Nations event exclusives Kamen Rider Joker!

Site Update – Welcome New Editor in Chief

Posted on September 1, 2018 at 12:00 pm by Chris under TokuNation Site Updates

Back in April of 2018 I wrote a news piece stating my decision to step down as acting Editor in Chief of TokuNation.com and pass the reigns on to someone else. The decision that I, as well as our network owner, came to was to place Jordan, aka Den-O, in to the position should he choose to accept it. And accept it he did and thus he and I began a transition period where he would slowly take over more responsibility.

The transition period is now over. Jordan, aka Den-O, is now the acting (and only) Editor in Chief here at TokuNation.com. Please join me in congratulating him on this accomplishment and new role within the network. His work ethic, devotion to accurate and complete coverage of tokusatsu topics across the spectrum, and borderline unhealthy knowledge of classic tokusatsu toys is second to none.

All inquiries regarding TokuNation.com should use one of the following methods to get Jordan’s contact information if you have not done so already:

– “Like” our Facebook page (Facebook.com/TokuNation) and send us a private message
– Follow @DenO_TokuNation on Twitter and send him a direct message
– Follow @TokuNation on Twitter and send a direct message
– Follow @TokuNation on Instagram and send a direct message

Congratulations Jordan! I look forward to the new TokuNation and in watching it continue to grow under your knowledge and leadership. P.S. Who is the secret owner now?
