NOTE!  If you haven’t seen the new Godzilla movie, this podcast episode contains INCREDIBLY DETAILED SPOILERS!  If you do not wish to be spoiled, do not listen to this episode.  Or at least turn the Godzilla portion on mute!

Episode details – the boys talk Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot, and two of the three podcasters think the movie will be a blockbuster flop.  Hear their reasons as to why and as the lone podcaster who is hopeful tries his best to defend the franchise and the possible success of the movie.  The boys then talk Godzilla – including the overall story of the movie, what worked and didn’t work, their favorite parts, and what monsters they’d like to see Godzilla take on in a sequel.  There’s also a moment where Tom gets a little too excited about his trip to Japan and … well … you just have to hear it for yourself.

Once you’ve listened to the episode, feel free to discuss it here on the TokuNation.com forums.  And stay till the end of the episode to hear a special promo for the upcoming crossover with Ranger Command Power Hour.  Part 1 will focus discussion on the pro’s and con’s of American tokusatsu, namely Power Rangers, while part 2 (the next episode of Talkin Toku) will feature the pro’s and con’s of Japanese tokusatsu, namely Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.  See you then, and take a listen to the episode below!

Godzilla Earns Roughly $200 Million Worldwide Opening Weekend – Sequel Confirmed

Posted on May 19, 2014 at 1:06 am by Toku Chris under Godzilla

It’s safe to say it – the King of the Monsters is back and he’s top at the box office this weekend. Reporting in at $93 million dollars domestically and an additional $103 million internationally, Godzilla 2014 is topping in at roughly $200 million dollars for its opening weekend. On top of that, news of a sequel is already in the works.

According to Deadline.com, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have already begun developing a sequel to what is now considered a successful reboot to the American Godzilla franchise. While movies in the “development” stage are always questionable to see the light of day, with what would appear to be a box-office hit – the $103 million dollars internationally is the largest grossing for a movie this year – many are saying a sequel is an obvious no-brainer.

Godzilla Officially Released in Theaters – Discussion and Spoilers

Posted on May 16, 2014 at 9:25 pm by Toku Chris under Godzilla

“You have no idea what’s coming! And it’s going to send us back to the stone age!”

It’s here. The American remake/reboot of the Japanese classic monster movie, Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, has been released in the United States. Receiving positive reviews from across the country (currently sitting at a 73% at movie site Rotten Tomatoes) anyone from casual to hardcore in terms of their interest in Godzilla needs to go see this movie. Starring Bryan Cranston and Ken Watanabe, along with many others, movie fans believe that Godzilla officially ushers in the start of “summer movie blockbusters”, with X-Men: Days of Future Past, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seemingly right on its heels (and many others too!).

We have a dedicated thread for you to discuss the movie, spoilers and all. Click here to join the movie discussion thread already in progress. The gang from our Talkin Toku Podcast are also planning an episode solely dedicated to discussing the movie in the near future, so stay tuned for that.

It’s a good time to be a Godzilla fan. Join in the discussion and go see the movie! And then go see it again! Below is an extended-look trailer. See you on the other side of the credits!

Godzilla 2014 Countdown Video Trifecta

Posted on May 14, 2014 at 1:43 am by Den-O under Godzilla

In a mere 2 days, the King Of Monsters will make his triumphant return to movie screens world wide after being absent for nearly 10 years. And while we may not have a new trailer or featurette to share right now, why not have a look at 3 choice videos to get you pumped for Legendary’s Godzilla?

Taking an unfortunate but hilarious trip down memory lane, how about Screen Junkies Honest Trailers treatment for the 1998 Rolland Emerich Godzilla movie? It certainly puts the already panned film into perspective.

Then why not check out CineFix’s very own Shot For Shot home made trailer for Godzilla 2014? A comparison of this and the original can be found on their page showing just how true  this “sweeded” version is to the actual trailer.

And of course we can’t forget the deliciously awesome Godzilla 2014 Snickers commercial! One of the best pieces of marketing for this film has undoubtedly been this hilarious commercial which shows the big G having fun playing ping-pong, water skiing, chatting up the ladies, and having a good time.

And with that, prepare for Godzilla to destroy theaters on May 16th!
