Koichi Kawakita, Heisei-Era Godzilla Special Effects Director, Has Passed Away

Posted on December 10, 2014 at 10:34 pm by Paladin under Godzilla

We have sadly been informed of the death of Koichi Kawakita a long-serving Toho special effects expert.

Kawakita’s work in the world of kaiju can be seen in the Heisei-era revival, beginning with Godzilla VS Biollante and ending with Godzilla VS Destoroyah. The new miniature effects and action sequences created by Kawakita during these films marked a tremendous step forward for the series, with some fans still considering this the greatest Godzilla era ever.

Koichi Kawakita was 72 years old. May he rest in peace…

New Toho Godzilla Film Announced For 2016 Release

Posted on December 7, 2014 at 6:12 pm by Paladin under Godzilla

An article in Cinema Today reveals that Toho Studios is planning a brand-new live-action Godzilla film, to be released in 2016!

Thanks to Legendary Pictures version of the iconic character (released last summer, to mixed reviews but financial success), fan support for the King of the Monsters is at an all-time high, and a revival became possible thanks to that.

No cast or crew details are known at this time but Toho has confirmed that this will be unrelated to the Gareth Edwards version and that projects’ previously announced sequel.

Stay tuned to TokuNation as we keep you up to date on all Godzilla movie details!

Happy 60th Birthday GODZILLA!

Posted on November 3, 2014 at 10:50 pm by Paladin under Godzilla

On this date in 1954, a creature named Gojira stomped into Japanese theaters and changed the world of monster movies forever.

Today we celebrate the King of the Monsters’ sixtieth birthday! Godzilla has been through many adventures and faced many challenges over the years; fighting against giant insects, mutant plants and moronic American directors- but he’s beaten them all! The world of tokusatsu would be a very dull place without Godzilla’s adventures, and all of us at TokuNation hope for more new projects in the future.

There are far too many amazing moments in the history of Godzilla to list here, but one particular encounter remains a favorite among most fans, and we share this moment as a centerpiece for our celebration:

Feel free to join in our ongoing Discussion Thread and share your favorite memory of the King of the Monsters!

Posted on December 9, 2013 at 10:15 am by Den-O under Godzilla

Posted on June 23, 2013 at 11:19 pm by Kiryu under Godzilla

Pre orders have already begun for the S.H.Monster Arts Biollante, following it’s showcase in Figureoh magazine.

As such, an official preview gallery for this figure has gone up along with the pre orders. The official images demonstrates the figure’s LED gimmick.

Biollante is perhaps the most expensive Monster Arts figure to date in the line, retailing for a whopping 23,100 yen. She is scheduled to ship sometime in November 2013.

UPDATE:

As expected Bluefin announced that they’ll be distributing Biollante to North American consumers. No word on pricing, but she’s due out in November/December
