Pacific Rim 2 Story & Casting Details Online

Posted on November 27, 2014 at 8:34 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

A   recent interview with director Guiliermo Del Toro provided some new insight into his upcoming film Pacific Rim 2 the sequel to 2013’s fan favorite monster vs. mecha action spectacular.

Del Toro offers a few details about the story structure for this new film:

“It’s a few years after the first one.  It’s not an immediate follow-up.  It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after – what happens to the Jaeger technology once the Kaiju are not a threat.  It’s quite a jump.”

Furthermore, Guiliermo has apparently confirmed two returning actors for this project:

*Charlie Day as Dr. Newton

*Burn Gorman as Dr. Herman Gottlieb.

Will anyone else return from the original film? What new adventures await us on this side of the Breach? Only time will tell!

Pacific Rim 2 is expected to hit theaters in 2017. Stay tuned to TokuNation as we keep you up to date on all Kaiju and Jaeger news!

Pacific Rim Sequel AND Animated Series Confirmed by Guliermo Del Toro!

Posted on June 26, 2014 at 8:52 pm by Paladin under General Tokusatsu News

Tokusatsu fans across the world fell in love with Guiliermo Del Toro’s epic Mecha VS Kaiju cinematic entry Pacific Rim last summer. Sadly, the box office returns were less than expected, leaving the future of this innovative new universe in doubt- UNTIL NOW!

Del Toro himself has confirmed that Pacific Rim 2 will be released in 2017! In addition, a new animated series set in the Pacific Rim universe (and following up on the adventures published in comic book format) will come out to bridge the gap between the first film and the sequel.

Some new images from NECA’s next “Pacific Rim” release have come online!

This is the Category III Kaiju codenamed “Knifehead” updated in a larger scale and with new battle damage detail. The upsizing brings Knifehead much closer in size to the already-released Jaeger figures.

Knifehead Version 2 has an expected release window of first-quarter 2014 and these in-package pictures suggest that retailers will have this wave in stock very soon.

NECA Pacific Rim Future Figures Announced

NECA‘s 1st wave of Pacific Rim Action Figures arrived stateside last month and for those of you looking for more, have no fear! More are coming! MTV Geek has posted an exclusive interview with NECA, and they revealed new figures coming in future waves! Some interesting information was relayed…did you know that the upcoming 18 Inch Gipsy Danger is a nod to the old Shogun Warriors line from the 70’s?! Some Kaiju are huge and would be too expensive to feature in the line, so NECA decided to create figures of Kaiju that were close to their targeted pricepoint. Series 2 will feature:

  • Leatherback who they described as a “enormous, huge and heavy chunk of plastic”
  • Striker Eureka
  • Battle Damaged Gipsy Danger with chain sword accessories
