S.H. Figuarts Kikaider’s Side Machine Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry!

Posted on December 18, 2014 at 2:19 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News

It’s only appropriate that after a day of new reveals and in hand images for upcoming Kikaider releases, that TokuNation brings you a gallery of the latest release in the line, S.H. Figuarts Side Machine!

Side Machine is the personal ride of the original Kikaider himself. An outstanding bike with a side car, Side Machine was way ahead of it’s time for rocking vehicle designs in tokusatsu during the 70’s. Seeing as it’s based on the real world Kawasaki GT 500 Mach III bike, Side Machine happens to include a set of officially licensed Kawasaki decals to accessorize it! This is just an added bonus for a vehicle that sets itself apart by leaps and bounds from most S.H. Figuarts vehicles. Seriously this is one of the nicest bikes in the entire line, gorgeous details, crisp paint, and did I mention those decals?! But don’t just take my word for it, check out 30 images of this awesome ride after the jump.

Also be sure to leave a comment in this thread as well. Posting in the S.H. Figuarts Side Machine Gallery thread will automatically enter you for a chance to win one of our Toku Toy Box Giveaway Prize Packs! Specifically you’ll be entered in for our Monolithic Monsters Prize Pack with this one. For full details on entry & Prize Pack breakdowns for Toku Toy Box follow this link. And Best of luck to all! We’ll have another gallery up for entries later this week!

S.H. Figuarts Gil Hakaider Official Images, Orders Open!

Posted on December 17, 2014 at 9:35 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News

Revealed only earlier today, Bandai has just updated us with official images, release details, and pre-orders for S.H. Figuarts Gil Hakaider!

As we mentioned earlier today, Gil Hakaider is the form that Professor Gil (the leader of the DARK & SHADOW organizations) assumed in Kikaider 01. His brain was implanted by a group of scientists into the lifeless Hakaider’s body. This version of the figure differentiates itself from the initial Hakaider with some slight paint app differences, and the addition of his cloak & Gil Whistle staff! The Hakaider Shot from the previous release is also still included along with the replacement shin/holster for it.

S.H. Figuarts Gil Hakaider will be released as a Tamashii Web Exclusive in May 2015 for 5184 yen.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Power Rangers In Space 16-18

Posted on December 17, 2014 at 5:34 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Power Rangers In Space has set a new course on Let’s Watch Wednesdays here at TokuNation!

5 key cards that once belonged to Zordon have been discovered! In a bid to obtain them from Darkonda, Andros begins to learn what the evil creature has done to his sister. But not before Darkonda mutates thanks to the betrayal of Ecliptor, forcing the rangers to rocket back into space. Using Zordon’s keys the rangers will obtain the ultimate power they’ve been waiting for, the Mega Voyager!

Meanwhile old allies of the rangers are in trouble. Captive since the Turbo Rangers were defeated, Lightning Cruiser & Storm Blaster have been in the hands of Divatox’s forces! Fortunately Storm Blaster has escaped and made his way to the one ranger he could always count on, Justin the Blue Turbo Ranger! It’s time for the combined might of 6 rangers to stop Astronema’s monster and  rescue Lightning Cruiser!

Rocket Powered Reading #5

This weeks marks the second appearance of a past ranger on Power Rangers in Space following the Phantom Ranger’s return. True Blue To The Rescue, features the return of the Blue Turbo Ranger. Though the Turbo Ranger powers were destroyed at the end of their series, Storm Blaster had apparently saved an extra Turbo Morpher for Justin’s use. Justin was of course left on Earth when the older rangers went into space to find Zordon, and his successor as the Blue Ranger was his friend & former Red Turbo Ranger, TJ.

Though we won’t be seeing Justin again for the remainder of the show, this episode establishes his continuing connection to the Power Rangers and the Morphing Grid. Though Power Rangers Super Megaforce sadly did not fully realize or explore these types of loose ends for the franchises anniversary, it’s often been theorized by fans that Justin’s spare Turbo Morpher from this episode was the one used by TJ in Forever Red to gain access to his Red Turbo Ranger powers once more. It’s speculative, but always a fun possibility.

TK-05 Kamen Rider Drive Type Technic Gallery & Review – Toku Toy Box Entry!

Posted on December 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Drive! Type Technic!

TokuNation has filled up with some high octane Kamen Rider Drive action for your viewing pleasure! Today we’re taking a looking at the 5th entry in the Tire Koukan toy line, the master of machines himself, TK-05 Kamen Rider Drive Type Technic!

Type Technic is a unique form. Rather than offering raw power to Drive it gives him highly technical skills like machine manipulation, increased dexterity, and near perfect accuracy. What the Tire Koukan figure of Technic gives us is another incredible addition to this growing line. Included with Technic are the standard Type Technic Tire you need to complete his basic look, the Fire Braver Tire, and Drive’s Door Gun! As far as complete packages go, Type Technic is yet another one in this line. This figure differs just a bit from previous Tire Koukan releases and we welcome you to read our review to find out how.

Or why not take a few minutes to check out a video review of TK-05 by my frequent collaborator Baltmatrix!

Check out the above video as well as 65 images of this great figure after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. And don’t forget to leave a comment in that thread as well, it’ll enter you into our massive Toku Toy Box Giveaway! Specifically this gallery thread enters you in for a chance to win our Top Gear Rider Legends Prize Pack! If you need a refresher on the rules and prize packs then check them out here, and good luck!

Lexington Comic & Toy Con Guest Updates, Zyurangers, Ultraman & Ivan Ooze!

Posted on December 14, 2014 at 9:26 pm by Den-O under Conventions, Other Conventions, Super Sentai, Ultraman

The Lexington Comic & Toy Con has been quickly gaining steam the last few years as one of the biggest and best east coast conventions for Power Rangers fans and actors. Well this year the show’s growing once again with a recent announcement of four brand new guests!

Yuta Mochizuki – Geki/Tyranno Ranger from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger! This is notable as only the second US convention appearance that Yuta has made. The first having only been a few months ago at Power Morphicon!

Rekio Chiba – Mei/Ptera Ranger from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger! The first EVER appearance by Ms Chiba at a US convention! If you know her at all then you know that Reiko Chiba has been incredibly active on Twitter (@CHIBAREI_DURGA) for a long time and interacts with fans regularly. In fact she had cryptically tweeted about this upcoming appearance a few weeks ago but saved the official reveal for the LCTC facebook page.

Bin Furuya – A veteran of several Toho film productions for many years, a suit actor on the original Ultra Q series and subsequently the suit actor of the Original Ultraman! Mr Furuya is a veteran of the highest order in the Tokusatsu world.

And last but not least, Paul Freeman – Ivan Ooze in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie! Of course Mr Freeman is an actor with an incredibly lengthy resume of credits, but we know him best for his deliciously crazy portrayal of Ivan ooze.

Kamen Rider 3’s TriCyclone Revealed!

Posted on December 14, 2014 at 7:23 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

The upcoming Super Hero Taisen GP: Kamen Rider 3 will of course feature the first ever on screen appearance of the one-off Kamen Rider 3. A unique rider who only appeared once in a short 1972 story. However this film will also mark the first appearance of his vehicle, the TriCyclone!

The TriCyclone certainly appears to be an impressive machine worthy of going up against Kamen Rider Drive’s Tridoron and Black RXs Rideron, both of which will be in this film as well! Will Kamen Rider 3 ally himself with his car driving brothers or will he stand in line with the bike riders of old?

Discuss this reveal as well as the rest of our coverage of Super Hero Tasien GP in our ongoing discussion thread!

TKPB01 Kamen Rider Proto-Drive Official Images, Orders Open

Posted on December 12, 2014 at 11:48 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Type…. A mysterious new hero joins the Tire Koukan toy line from Kamen Rider Drive! The first of likely many Premium Bandai TK releases is now up for order, TKPB01 Kamen Rider Proto-Drive!

Proto-Drive is the rider still surrounded by mysteries in Drive. But many of them should be brought to light soon in the upcoming Kamen Rider Drive Episode 0 which will be given away to movie goers at the Drive X Gaim Full Throttle Movie.

For now though Premium Bandai is wetting our appetite for this shadowy rider with a Tire Koukan release. Proto-Drive includes the Prototype Tire already attached, but as a bonus for this premium release he also exclusively includes the Dimension Cab Tire! Which has a magnet that allows to be attached to metal surfaces. No other weapons or accessory are included but we’ve yet to properly see Proto-Drive use weapons before anyway.

TKPB01 Proto-Drive is open for pre-order for 3780 yen, and will remain open through February with an actual release in May.
