Toku Toy Box 2019 Announcement: 8 years of TokuNation

Posted on December 1, 2019 at 9:26 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, General Tokusatsu News, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

Once again it’s the time of year that the community and our staff love most – time for all of us to celebrate our respective holidays & traditions with the friends and loved ones we hold dear. But it’s also time for TokuNation.com to celebrate itself. Our little community is hitting another milestone this year, our 8 year anniversary!! January 4th 2020, will officially mark 8 years since TokuNation first went public as part of the network of TFW2005.COM, ToyArk.com, HissTank.com and of course our newest sister site PWRRNGR.com, through both network owner Tony_Bacala and our founder and original Editor-In-Chief, TokuChris.

For 8 years now we’ve posted news, rumors, toy galleries, videos, and even dabbled in podcasts for a bit (never forget Talkin Toku!). As times have changed we’ve done our best to change with them, delivering you content in different ways, covering new and exciting topics, and trying to improve our social outreach. But he one true constant that’s been with us since our first year, that you can expect every year? The annual Toku Toy Box giveaway!

Like years’ past, TokuNation is hosting an annual holiday giveaway open to ALL registered users! You’ll recall that in years’ past giveaways, users could post in a selection of galleries within the contest period to automatically be entered into the drawing for several prizes. Like last years giveaway, not only will we be posting a number of eligible galleries throughout the month of December, but every gallery we’ve posted in 2019 also makes you eligible! If you’ve already posted in the 1 of the over 40 galleries we’ve produced this year, then you’re already entered. If not, you already have over 40 chances with more on the way this month! To show our appreciation to you, the community, we’ve assembled a number of individual prizes for our users, which we’ll be revealing through out the month.

Click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to be taken to the OFFICIAL RULES for Toku Toy Box 2019! The first new gallery of the giveaway period will be posted later today, so be on the lookout! For now though, thank you. Thanks to all of you who continue to call this place your home for news, discussion, images, sales, friendships, artwork, videos, podcasts, and everything else in between. Happy Holidays from all of us, and best of luck in our giveaway! It’s our gift to you this, and every, holiday season!

Posted on October 24, 2019 at 8:54 am by Den-O under Conventions, Garo, General Tokusatsu News, Kamen Rider, Other Conventions, Ultraman

The annual Tamashii Nations event is under way and as ever, there are a plethora of new items on display. Just as with every Tamashii event, an item being displayed does not necessarily indicate that it will be released however. A number of new items are currently listed as “Display Only” as well.

That being said, this year’s event has certainly provided a number of figures of interest:

Shinkocchou Seihou S.H. Figuarts:
– Den-O Sword Form
– Kuuga Growing, Dragon, Pegasus & Titan Forms
– OOO TaJaDor, SaGoZho, LaToraTah & ShaUTa Combos
– Dark Kiva
– OOO Ridevendor

Kamen Rider S.H. Figuarts:
Grand Zi-O
Build Genius Form
Ex-Aid Muteki
Ghost Mugen Damashii
Metal Build
Cross-Z Evol
Jin
Horobi
Vulcan Shooting Wolf
Valkyrie Rushing Cheetah
Rise Hopper

Ultraman S.H. Figuarts:
Ace
Joneus
Titus
Tregear
Grigio
Ultra Dark Killer

Tamashii Lab:
Ankh

That is a hefty grouping of new reveala. Once again, we know that not everything here will make it to production for some time, if at all. But it’s always pleasing to see just how much Tamashii pumps out for these events. As more new reveals, images, and information from the event surface we will update this story and the related thread.

SDCC Toei Spider-Man Hot Wheels Spider Machine GP-7 Gallery

Posted on July 30, 2019 at 12:44 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, San Diego Comic Con, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“I am the emissary of Hell!
And I shall fight this great evil for the fate of all spiders!”

400 years ago, Professor Monster came to invade Earth with his Iron Cross Army. Active once again in 1978, his legions would cross paths with the young motocross racer Takuya Yamashiro. With a fate greater than he knew, Takuya was both destined to lose his father to Iron Cross, and encounter the strange race of the Planet Spider. Now infused with the Spider Extract, and given command of the mighty Spider-Machine GP-7 and Marveller, Takuya has become the Spider-Man! This Emissary of Hell will fight to defend the Earth for as long as it takes to stop Professor Monster and his hordes!

The classic 1978 Toei produced Spider-Man series has become a cult classic in the US, particularly after the character’s involvement in Marvel Comics Spider-Verse event series  (which the above quote comes from). Mattel has been the first toy company to capitalize on the series US popularity with merchandise though, giving us the SDCC exclusive Hot Wheels Spider Machine GP-7! A welcome addition for any 1/64 Hot Wheels collector, and a wonderful one for any fan of Spider-Man, the Spider Machine is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

We’ve got a full 50 image gallery of the Spider Machine GP-7 after the jump as well as a full review. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see it all. Next time, we dive into another SDCC Exclusive from Hasbro’s Power Rangers Lightning Collection line!

Mattel Reveals Hot Wheels Spider Machine GP7 SDCC Exclusive

Posted on June 17, 2019 at 11:13 am by Kiryu under General Tokusatsu News

In a rather surprising turn of events, our friends at Mattel just revealed the latest piece to join their line up of SDCC exclusives; as you may have already guessed it’s none other than the Hot Wheels Spider Machine GP7 from Toei’s Spider-Man!

For those unfamiliar with the Toei’s take on the iconic web-slinger: Spider-Man in this show is a motorcycle racer named Takuya Yamashiro. He gains spider powers to fight off the Iron Cross Army. In addition to being used as transportation, the Spider Machine GP7 activates a warship called the Marveller, which can transform into a giant robot called Leopardon, and that very car is faithfully recreated here by Hot Wheels.

Do note that attendees must pre-order off Mattel’s website first, then confirm their badge number at Mattel’s booth at SDCC the day of the show. Pre-orders will not ship out until after SDCC comes to a close.

At the moment, we don’t know if Mattel plans on releasing this piece to mass retail once SDCC is over, but we’ll be sure to give you an update once more info regarding this is available.

Figma Rikka Takarada Release Info

Posted on June 10, 2019 at 12:43 pm by Kiryu under General Tokusatsu News, Ultraman

Last year, Studio Trigger surprised both the Anime and Toku communities with their hit series: SSSS.Gridman show. We’ve seen no shortage of merchandise from this show, especially when it revolves around two of the show’s most popular female characters: Rikka Takarada and Akane Shinjo. Earlier in the year, Max Factory announced at Winter Wonder Fest that those two aforementioned characters will be coming to the popular Figma line of action figures and we saw the prototype of Rikka Takarada at the event. Max Factory’s finally gearing up to release this figure into the wild, and of course, we now have a plethora of new images for Figma Rikka Takada.

The Figma line is known for coming with a plethora of different accessories, facial expressions, and swappable parts and it seems like Figma Rikka Takarada will be no exception. Figma Rikka Takarada is packed to the brim with different facial expressions, hand options, and hair options for perfect for any occasion or photo gallery in addition to the signature clear display stand that all Figmas come with.

The price for Figma Rika Takarada isn’t known, but we know she’ll be released sometime in November 2019. We’ll be sure to update this article as soon as the pricing is known so stay tuned!

Goodsmile Max Combine DX Full Power Gridman Gallery

Posted on June 8, 2019 at 10:20 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

“Hyperlink combine!”

SSSS.Gridman took two communities by storm in the last year. The anime & tokusatsu fandoms were united by the amazing animation studio Trigger’s love letter to the original Denkou Choujin Gridman and it’s near countless references to other tokusatsu of year’s past. The series was short but it’s impact was immense, leading to a near endless stream of related multimedia and products since. Ever since the series ended, fans have been patiently waiting for the promised toys to come of it.

DX Full Power Gridman is the first major attempt to recreate the 5 components of Gridman’s true form. Gridman, Gridman Calibur, Battle Tracto Max, Buster Borr, & Sky Vitter. Each component on it’s own may not do much, but combining Gridman with 1 of each, or assembling them all together can create Full Power Gridman! Or if you so choose to leave Gridman out of the equation entirely, then you can create God Zenon! While there’s a wealth of options with this set in hand, does it actually live up to the hype? We have a very very lengthy written review and photo gallery breaking down how expectations, have met reality.

See the full 130 image gallery and 5300+ word review of the Max Combine DX Full Power Gridman by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Share with us what your thoughts are on this set by joining the discussion thread.

Goodsmile DX SSSS Full Power Gridman Video Review by Wotakufighter

Posted on June 3, 2019 at 11:28 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Ultraman

The highly anticipated DX SSSS Full Power Gridman set has finally been making it’s way into the hands of collectors in the last week. Months after the SSSS.Gridman series finale, can this massive collector’s set live up to the hype? We’re working on a full gallery of these big bots ourselves. But for the time being, the first video review of these figure’s has been posted by the one and only Wotakufighter!

This is a pretty hefty breakdown and video review so it’s actually split into two parts, and clocks in at a combined hour of video. Check em out below!

We’ll have our own gallery of DX Full Power Gridman set in about a week!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Garo Raiga (& Taiga!) Saejima Version Official Images

Posted on May 24, 2019 at 3:37 pm by Den-O under Garo, General Tokusatsu News

This week we saw confirmation that the popular Shinkcchou Seihou Garo mold would be making a return in a new release as S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Garo Raiga Saejima Version. As it turns out though, the official images have just revealed something else about this release…

Indeed, Garo Raiga Saejima Version reproduces the armor as it was worn by Kouga’s son Raiga. This means the figure is absolutely identical to the original release aside from Raiga’s unique blue eyes. These images do confirm that this release will also include the iconic cape worn by several users of the Golden Knight’s armor on top of the obviously included hands and sword. However, the real surprise here is that this release will ALSO include another alternate head with red eyes, to create Garo Taiga Saejima Version! So you have the option to display this figure as either Raiga OR his grandfather Taiga! We suspect some multiples may be purchased by a few collectors…

Shinkocchou Seihou Garo Raiga & Taiga Saejima Version will be released in October 2019 and retails for 9990 yen, which is a mere 90 yen more than the original release! Those new accessories are a pretty great value for that 90 yen. This figure will be released as a Tamashii Web Exclusive so be sure to pursue it through your preferred middleman service.

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Garo Raiga Saejima Version Revealed

Posted on May 22, 2019 at 3:40 pm by Den-O under Garo, General Tokusatsu News

Confirmed via a new Figure King scan, the Shinkocchou Seihou Garo line is growing by one more new release!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Garo Raiga Saejima Version will look quite familiar to most collectors. Raiga’s golden knight form is actually identical to his father Kouga’s aside from one very small detail. The eye color. Kouga’s version of the armor featured green eyes, while notably Raiga’s armor has blue eyes. Should Bandai want to triple dip on this mold they could even do Kouga’s father Taiga. His armor featured red eyes.

While we don’t have any sort of confirmation of the figure’s accessories, it’s a safe bet that they’d be identical to the first release. Though there’s some hope of some alternate inclusions as well. Otherwise this figure appears largely unchanged from the first Seihou Garo release. According to the scan Shinkocchou Seihou Garo Raiga Saejima Ver. will be released in October 2019 for 9990 yen as a Tamashii Web Exclusive. Expect a full set of official images in the near future!
