Proving that the S.H. MonsterArts line perhaps isn’t quite as stagnant as collectors are beginning to think, Bandai Tamashii Nations have revealed that a 1954 version of Godzilla based on his original appearance will be joining the line as a mass release figure in July.

This news comes hot on the heels of the previously revealed 2001 GMK Godzilla, which is due out as a web exclusive the previous month.

Pricing and accessory details are yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for further information on this big release for the S.H. MonsterArts line!

City Shrouded In Darkness: Toku Survival Game Announced

Posted on February 17, 2016 at 1:05 am by Kiryu under General Tokusatsu News, Godzilla, Ultraman

Ever wondered what it’ll be like to live in a world where giant monster attacks are frequent? Well now you can thanks to a new Toku themed survival video game coming out of the woodwork with City Shrouded in Darkness having been recently been announced.

City Shrouded in Darkness puts players in the role of a civilian trying to survive a Kaiju battle that erupted in the middle of a city. Various franchises will be featured in this unique game, with Ultraman already being confirmed and Godzilla currently rumoured(though unconfirmed at the time of this writing) via the Gormaru Island Facebook page, the same face book page also posted a teaser which can be viewed by making the jump here.

No release date or plans for localization for the game’s been announced just quite yet, though it’s been confirmed for PS Vita and PS4 consoles exclusively.

Kamen Rider Den-O Designer, Yasushi Nirasawa, Has Passed Away

Posted on February 4, 2016 at 11:16 pm by Den-O under Garo, Godzilla, Kamen Rider

And now we turn to a truly sad bit of news today. We unfortunately have to report that famed design artist, Yasushi Nirasawa, has passed away at 52. And while that name may not immediately evoke a response, if you’re a fan of the Kamen Rider franchise then you undoubtedly have seen Mr. Nirasawa’s work whether you realized it or not.

Though Mr. Nirasawa has worked with the franchise since Blade he’s most often remembered for his work on Kamen Rider Den-O as the designer behind the Imagin. Today marks the passing of an immense figure in the tokusatsu world. While Den-O is of course my personal favorite of his works, Mr. Nirasawa had his hands in a number of series familiar to fans.

Kamen Rider Blade
Kamen Rider Kabuto
Kamen Rider Den-O
Kamen Rider Decade
Kamen Rider G
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
Golden Knight Garo
Godzilla Final Wars

I’d like to take this moment to personally say that without this great mans’ vision and talent I don’t know how I would have ever gotten hooked on Kamen Rider. His designs gave birth to the powerful characters & personalities that first got me into the franchise. Whether breathing life into the terrifying and menacing Worms & Undead of Kamen Riders Kabuto & Blade respectively, or the heartwarming & fun antics of Den-O’s Imagin, Mr Nirasawa brought a special something to every thing he touched.

As one of his greatest (or most annoying depending on your tastes) creations once said, “From start to finish, I’m great!”

Goodbye, Mr. Nirasawa.

S.H. Monsterarts GMK Godzilla Fully Revealed!

Posted on January 20, 2016 at 10:08 pm by Den-O under Godzilla

Teased just one week ago on the official Bluefin Tamashii facebook page, we now have a full reveal of the upcoming S.H. Monsterarts GMK Godzilla thanks to the Tamashii Web Shop!

GMK Godzilla, so named for the 2001 film Godzilla Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant All-Out Monsters Attack, has been a highly demanded release for some time. Finally those wishes will be granted in form of a Tamashii Web Exclusive release of this figure in June. Japanese retail for S.H. Monsterarts GMK Godzilla is 8856 yen and the figure includes no accessories.

As with all Monsterarts this figure should be imported to the US via Bluefin as a standard retail release.

Bluefin tease S.H. MonsterArts GMK Godzilla?

Posted on January 14, 2016 at 4:46 pm by ZeoRangerV under Godzilla

Despite Tamashii Nations delving into more and more properties in recent years, it’s been a rather quiet time for the S.H. MonsterArts line. After the exciting coverage of Godzilla‘s Heisei era and a quick delve into the Millennium films, Legendary Pictures 2014 film and even the Gamera franchise, the line seemed to stop altogether with only a few repaints trickling through.

However things may be about to change, with the Bluefin Tamashii Nations USA Facebook page teasing a release that’s sure to excite. After cryptically posting the poster for the 2001 film Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant All-Out Monsters Attack! (also known to fans as) on their Facebook page earlier in the week, today they have also released an image of foot looking rather like that of Godzilla’s. Better yet is that the accompanying post states that the foot is articulated, which hopefully indicates a fully poseable figure rather than a statue (a direction some have speculated the SMHA line may have been heading towards).

Is the 2001 GMK version of Godzilla about to join the S.H. MonsterArts line? Bluefin also revealed that the figure will be going up for preorder next week so be sure to check back for more news!
