First Look at Lightning Collection Zeo Blue Ranger!

Posted on October 27, 2019 at 12:37 pm by Kiryu under Power Rangers

IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!

We first caught wind that a Lightning Collection Zeo Blue Ranger maybe among the Lightning Collection Wave 4 releases thanks to some solicites that went up on Walmart’s website. Today, we’re given our first look at this figure thanks to some 3D Renders from a panel at London MCM Comic Con and hi-res photos from our friends at Hasbro.

Other figures that were listed in the wave included Beast Morphers Blaze, SPD Red Ranger, and Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger. With Zeo Ranger III Blue now offical, it remains to be seen if the other three listings are correct as well.

Starting with Wave 4, Lightning Collection Figures will increase to $21.49 USD, Lightning Collection Zeo Blue Ranger is expected to hit the shelves sometime in Fall 2020. You can currently pre-order Lightning Collection Zeo Blue Ranger from Entertainment Earth as well as GameStop.

MCM London 2019: Tokunation Interview Hasbro

Posted on October 26, 2019 at 2:22 pm by ZeoRangerV under Conventions, Other Conventions, Power Rangers

Tokunation had the chance to briefly sit down with representatives from Hasbro at the second day of MCM Comic Con London, just ahead of their panel taking place tomorrow. The Hasbro booth had all four wave 3 Lightning Collection figures on display, along with the MMPR Red Ranger and Zeo Gold Ranger 2-pack and the White Ranger helmet. Here’s a full rundown of the questions we quickly got to ask them!

The fandom is pretty excited about the forthcoming Lord Drakkon figure. Does this mean there are plans for more comic-original characters in the future, including Drakkon’s other forms?

Hasbro: With over 26 years of content, we have plenty to work with when it comes to Power Rangers. There’s nothing else on the table right now, but stay tuned for more to come in the future.

Does the content you have to work with extend to the designs from both the 1995 and 2017 films?

Hasbro: The same again really. We have a lot of characters to work with and though there’s nothing planned right now there’s more to come.

The burning question is of course if Lightning Collection Megazords are in the pipeline, but what about Morphers, weapons and other roleplay items as well?

Hasbro: Power Rangers as a brand encompasses a lot of different elements that we’re all considering, and we’re excited to share with you what we have in store when the time comes!

So far each of the waves have included at least one figure from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Is this a pattern that will continue going forward?

Hasbro: Of course Mighty Morphin is a popular series but we’re enjoying the opportunity to pepper in characters from other seasons amongst the waves. Right now there’s no set formula to the releases.

There has been some concern regarding quality control on the figures, particularly with missing paint apps. Have Hasbro aware of any problems with the line?

Hasbro: Hasbro are among the best in class when it comes to quality, and so naturally we focus on QC. We do our best to make sure everything is as it should be and are always looking for ways to improve.

Among the best elements of the Lightning Collection is that eye-catching box art by Tom Whalen. How did that collaboration come about?

Hasbro: Hasbro aren’t just the best in class when it comes to quality, when it came to developing the Lightning Collection we really wanted to make it stand out from a packaging standpoint. So our development team reached out to Tom and we’ve enjoyed working with such a passionate artist.

Ending on a more UK-specific note, what is the reason behind the figures seemingly being released individually over here, as opposed to assorted waves in the US?

Hasbro: Distribution is managed locally, so all we can really say is that it’ll vary from place to place.

We’d like to thank Hasbro for taking the time to answer these questions, and look forward to what they have in store for the future! Be sure to stay tuned for more Power Rangers Lightning Collection news coming out of London this weekend!

Power Rangers Lightning Collection Dragon Shield Mighty Morphin Black Ranger Gallery

Posted on October 18, 2019 at 6:56 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Sit tight buddy, I’ll take care of this guy!”

Set to impress Angela with a pair of pearl earrings for their big date, Zack has no idea that Rita Repulsa has tricked him into taking the Pearls of Stillness! Spellbound to freeze everyone as soon as they’re worn, the Power Rangers as well as Zack’s date are stuck. Now it’s up to Zack & Tommy to face off against the Oysterizer on their own. And in a moment of need, the Green Ranger’s mighty shield can be passed to another. Wielding the Dragon Shield himself, the Black Ranger takes on the Oysterizer!

You may recall that this form was the basis of an SDCC 2014 S.H. Figuarts exclusive, which I reviewed way back when. 5 years on and we’re getting a brand new take on it with this Lightning Collection figure. The Dragon Shield Black Ranger (5 years ago known as the Armored Black Ranger) originates from the “Zyu2” era of Saban commissioned & Toei produced footage to flesh out the end of MMPR season 1. So this interesting form is exclusive to American aired footage and believe it or not, this unique power up is featured in less than 1 minute of actual screen time. That’s it! But once again we’ve been treated to a truly wonderful figure of this unique design. Armed with the Blade Blaster and Power Axe this figure will be a perfect addition to your already Mighty Morphin collection.

Check out over 60 morphinominal photos of the Dragon Shield Black Ranger after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’re heading back to the world Oni with a fresh gallery from Kamen Rider Hibiki!

Possible New Lightning Collection Listings Discovered

Posted on October 18, 2019 at 6:48 am by Den-O under Power Rangers

As usual, it’s best to take this one with some degree of skepticism. Back in mid-August we got word of an upcoming wave of new Lightning Collection figures coming from Hasbro. While we’ve yet to physically see these releases taking shape, these figure’s coded listings in Walmart systems have certainly given us something to salivate over.

Now, Walmart is at it again. Thanks to frequent news breaker @PowerRangersTalk, we have information of several brand new and more obviously named listings in Walmarts computer systems:

– MMPR Yellow Ranger
– SPD Red Ranger
– Beast Morphers Blaze
– Zeo Ranger III Blue

Once again, we haven’t gotten official word of these releases, or in fact the previously discovered wave, from Hasbro just yet. But given the dearth of information on anything beyond what’s currently at retail, we’re banking on having more information and images of any upcoming releases in the near future.

Power Rangers Lightning Collection Psycho Blue Ranger Gallery

Posted on October 3, 2019 at 4:33 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers

“Blue Ranger! You’re mine!”

As the Space Rangers quest through the stars to save Zordon and bring peace to the galaxy, the newly brainwashed Astronema has finally found the key to their defeat. Drawing their power from the great Dark Specter, these malevolent machines are faster smarter stronger, and evil. First posing as the Power Rangers then attacking them relentlessly, the Psycho Rangers hide even more monstrous strength just below the surface. Each Psycho Ranger is programmed to ruthlessly hunt down the opposing Power Ranger of their color, and Psycho Blue will stop at nothing to find and defeat TJ, the Blue Space Ranger…..

Easily the most memorable and powerful team of evil rangers in franchise history, the Psycho Rangers have earned their place in the hearts of fans and collectors. So it’s no surprise that seeing this team shaping up in Hasbro’s Lighting Collection line has been received so well. Psycho Blue may be the first of the team to hit the line, but Psycho Red was also just released via a two-pack with the Lost Galaxy red Ranger as well. Psycho Blue is armed with his signature Psycho Axe and an energy absorbing hand just for ranger powers, Blue sets the bar high for the rest of the team in Hasbro’s line.

We’ve attached the full 50+ image gallery to this post but you can see it as well as read through our full review after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. With Psycho Blue out of the way, next time we’re travelling through space and time once more with w new Zi-O gallery; S.H. Figuarts Ride Striker!

Gamestop Exclusive Power Rangers Lightning Collection Goldar Gallery

Posted on September 18, 2019 at 2:35 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“What’s that you usually yell about now?
Something about ‘Morphin Time,’ isn’t it?”

For 4 seasons and 2 movies, one villain has been an ever present threat to the Power Rangers. This mighty winged has waged wars on countless worlds, making his mark across the universe. But after being freed from a 10,000 year slumber, the Power Rangers of Earth became his greatest foes. For millennia, he has served at the beck and call of his empress, Rita Repulsa. And even before that, he was a loyal general in the armies of the fearsome Lord Zedd. Born on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, the shining warrior Goldar is a force for all heroes to reckon with.

A Gamestop Exclusive, Lightning Collection Goldar has easily become one of the most in demand figures in this line. As the first truly modern action figure the character has received, there was quite a bit of hype surrounding it’s release. Pairing your Goldar up with Lord Zedd or the recently released Putty, a real army is starting to take shape to take on your Power Rangers. LC Goldar is armed with his signature sword as well as a pretty lethal looking effect part to accent it, and his iconic golden wings. As a standalone figure Goldar may have a handful of issues, but as a part of your larger Power Rangers collection he’ll feel right at home.

Check out our full 60+ image gallery of Goldar after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. You can also read through our full review of the figure in that thread. We’ll be back soon with a look at the future in our gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Woz!

Renegade Game Studios Announces Heroes of the Grid Phase 2 KickStarter!

Posted on September 10, 2019 at 12:00 pm by Kiryu under Power Rangers

Renegade Game Studio’s Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid tabletop game came out last month and after a successful launch they’re back at it again with another Kickstarter campaign.

We’ve known for some time now that a Power Rangers: Zeo expansion was planned thanks to a Backer’s Choice poll that was held some time ago. The Evil Robot Clone of Dino Thunder Black is present on the banner, suffice to say that an expansion based on the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel anniversary episode: Dimensions in Danger is also quite possibly in the works.

Other details are unknown at this time, but we’ll be sure to update you once the Kickstarter goes live on September 17th 2019.
