The first image of 2017’s team of cinematic teenagers with attitude is online! This gives us a great look at the new Movie Rangers in civilian dress.

Movie director Dean Israelite offers some comments about the (sadly still-unseen) hero suits for this film:
““We’ve really pushed ourselves to make them feel different from any other superhero costume that’s out there. One key that’s different to the Power Rangers suits is that they’re not really suits that people get into. They’re suits that morph onto our kids, so they already have this almost metaphysical quality to them.”

Israel also had this to say about the films’ villain, played by Elizabeth Banks:
“It’s very exciting that we got [Banks], and I think what she loves is the opportunity to really embrace the insanity and deliciousness of Rita Repulsa in terms of how weird and wonderful that character was, and really dive into and consume that character. You should always be off-balance when you’re watching her. Is she insane? Is she totally calculated? Does she know what she’s doing? Elizabeth can toe that line really well.”

The time has come for fans of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – the official first issue (although Issue #0 was pretty much a FIRST issue … this is just another issue that happens to have the #1 attached to it) of the brand new comic by BOOM! Studios is here! Featuring what can only be called a near-record-setting line up of variant covers (27 total covers, we counted), the first issue hits stands after the enormous success of Issue #0 which launched back in January.

We got ourselves a copy and have done a full review – spoilers and all! Check out our review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #1 by clicking “Read More” at the end of the story. We’ve also included some images – but we’ve blanked out the word bubbles so you won’t have to worry too much about scene-by-scene spoilers.

An official synopsis for the upcoming Power Rangers film has been released by Lionsgate!


Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threats. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

In addition, a majority of the production crew for this new film has been announced:

*Joining director Dean Israelite are writers John Gantins, (of Kong: Skull Island) Burk Sharpless & Matt Sazama (of Dracula Untold), Zack Stentz & Ashley Miller ( of X-Men: First Class), and Max Landis (of Chronicle.)
*The film will be produced by series creator Haim Saban along with Wyck Godfrey & Marty Bowen, veterans of The Maze Runner.
*Executive producers for the film are Allison Shearmur (from The Hunger Games) and Brent O’Connor (currently producing WarCraft.)
*Composer for the film is one Brian Tyler, who worked on Avengers: Age of Ultron
*Costume design will be handled by one Kelli Jones whose most recent success is Straight Outta Compton.
*Stunts are assigned to Paul Jennings, whose resume includes Game of Thrones and The Dark Knight.
*Visual effects will be handled by Weta Workshop best known to most audiences for their work during The Lord Of The Rings.

Definitely an impressive mix of talents for this new project!

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Legacy Falconzord has been found at Toys’R’Us by Twitter user @BigMike8109. The retail cost is $79.99 which is slightly disappointing given the lackluster capabilities of the zord by itself.

Yesterday, images of brand new Ranger Keys were unearthed by our friends at RangerCrew.com. This follows up with statements from Bandai America at this year’s Toy Fair stating that they would find out what was going on with the remaining Ranger Keys upon returning to their offices after the event. Some of these are really exciting to see – especially a certain American-Made Power Ranger yet to see retail outside of a convention exclusive release!  These new Ranger Key sets are as follows:
