TokuNation Gallery Roundup: March 2016

Posted on April 1, 2016 at 12:26 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Power Rangers, Super Sentai

Another month has come & gone and so we have a number of toy galleries and in depth reviews by our Photo & Content staff to round-up once again! Though all the products we reviewed this past month were released in the last 3 or 4 years, the content they covered spanned decades. A selection of Ranger Keys took us down the path of Metal Heroes from 1982 all the way to 2012, the Legacy line gave us a one-two punch throwback to 1994 & 1995, and we caught up with some much needed gallery 2.0’s a recent and often overlooked sentai.

As always you’ll find below links to this months gallery/reviews. We look forward to bringing you even more content this month!

Ranger Key Set Metal Hero Edition Gallery

Posted on March 16, 2016 at 12:15 am by Den-O under Metal Heroes, Super Sentai

Gokai Change!

It’s the gimmick that just won’t ever fade away, Ranger Keys! Today we’re taking a look at just the latest set from Premium Bandai released in this 5 year old line of collectible trinkets. Today’s subject is the Ranger Key Set Metal Hero Edition!

This incredible new set seeks to fill out some long standing gaps in Ranger Key collection, following up on a Ranger Key set released 3 years ago to coincide with Super Hero Taisen Z. That set introduced 6 Metal Heroes into the line with Jiraya, Jiban, Draft Redder, Janperson, Blue Beet, & B-Fighter Kabuto. The Metal Hero Edition adds another 10 Metal Heroes to the line up with:

Gavan (Uchuu Keiji Gavan-1982)
Sharivan (Uchuu Keiji Sharivan-1983)
Shaider (Uchuu Keiji Shaider-1984)
Juspion (Kyoju Tokusou Juspion-1985)
Spielban (Jikuu Senshi Spielban-1986)
Metalder (Chojinki Metalder-1987)
Fire (Tokkei Winspector-1990)
Sol Braver (Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain-1991)
SWAT Sho (Blue SWAT-1994)
Gavan Type G (Uchuu Keiji Gavan The Movie-2012)

While that does indeed fill in most of the gaps for collectors, there’s still a few left that may irk some (mostly me). For now enjoy over 75 images of the Ranger Key Metal Hero Edition along with group shots comparing this set to the Ranger Key Complete Edition released for Super Hero Taisen Z. Click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see the full gallery!

Massive Toku Collectible Auction Under Way at Serious Toyz

Posted on November 26, 2015 at 10:48 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, Super Sentai

Well this looks like something we can all definitely be thankful for this year! Occasionally we share rare & interesting toku auctions we find on ebay but this is on an entirely different level.

The fine folks at Serious Toyz have just opened up a special set of auctions aimed at collectors of vintage Japanese die cast toys & robots with a special emphasis on tokusatsu! Running the range of Metal Heroes, Super Sentai, Ultraman, Godzilla, & Kamen Rider this auction consists of a number of rare finds from a personal collection that was greatly cared for with many items having either never been opened or even used.

It isn’t often we see near mint & rare vintage releases like this for sale. So we wanted to share this with the community in the hopes that someone here may finally be able to fill a unique hole in their collection they’ve been after!

The master list of ALL Auctions are posted HERE
– Super Sentai Auctions
– Kamen Rider Auctions
– Metal Heroes Auctions
– Ultraman Auctions
– Miscellaneous Toku Heroes & other characters

And here’s a link for new user registration as well as one for all the rules that accompany this set of auctions!

Happy bidding to everyone and thanks to Serious Toyz for making these various items available! I’ll be bidding on several myself!

Premium Bandai Ranger Key EX Metal Heroes Edition Revealed!

Posted on November 5, 2015 at 6:46 pm by Den-O under Metal Heroes

Premium Bandai has been on a Ranger Key kick this year with announcements of sets like the Sentai Lost Legend & ToQger Rainbow keys. Today brings yet another awesome reveal with the introduction of the Ranger Key EX Metal Heroes Edition Set!

This incredible new set will contain the primary Metal Hero of every series fromg Uchuu Keiji Gavan up through Blue Swat! A premium set of Metal Hero key previously released in conjunction with Super Hero Taisen Z contains the other lead heroes absent from this set. The following are included:

-Gavan
-Sharivan
-Shaider
-Juspion
-Spielban
-Metalder
-Fire
-Solbraver
-Swat Sho
-Gavan Type G

Curiosuly that’s yet another set of Metal Hero keys where Toei has conveniently forgotten the final 2 series of the franchise. B-Robo Kabutack, which shared a crossover with both B-Fightes. And the follow-up to Kabutack, Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack. Perhaps those keys will be released eventually. For now the EX Metal Hero Key set will retail for 13,500 yen and be released in February!

Space Sheriff Estevan Revealed!

Posted on June 30, 2014 at 11:03 pm by Den-O under Metal Heroes

Speculation has been buzzing about the introduction of a new Space Sheriff who will cameo in the upcoming Uchuu Keiji Sharivan Next Generation film and possibly in the Shaider film as well. Well speculate no more!

We finally have an image confirming Space Sheriff Estevan! (Or possibly spelled Esteban) Either way this new golden sheriff is ready to shine! Or is he? Take a closer look at this image and you’ll notice that his suit is a gold chrome repaint of Gavan Bootleg, who was featured in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger VS Uchuu Keiji Gavan The Movie! So is this redemption for the suit that once tried to kill the original Sheriff? We’ll know in a few months! For now we’ve included a few images of Bootleg for comparison.

And while we’re at it, the actor playing Estevan has also been confirmed. He’s none other than Ryoma Baba! Most familiar to toku fans as Ryuji Iwasaki AKA Blue Buster from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters!

Kamen Rider Fourze & Space Sheriff Gavan: Protect The Golden Disk!

Posted on May 6, 2013 at 4:18 pm by Paladin under Kamen Rider

Toei’s famous astral heroes are teaming up to teach youngsters about space history!

A special event hosted by Saitama Youth Astronomical Museum features Fourze & Gavan telling the history of Voyager 1, the spacecraft launched beyond our solar system with recordings of our world to attract the possibility of alien life.

What effects this may have on Megatron’s plans for the future of Cybertron are yet to be determined. :)

Metal Hero Ranger Keys in Super Hero Taisen Z!

Posted on March 31, 2013 at 10:20 am by KamenRiderOOO under Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, Super Sentai

Earlier this year, we posted a picture featuring Gavan Type-G standing amongst his fellow Metal Heroes- Janperson, Jiraiya, Jiban, SyncRedder, B-Fighter’s Blue Beet and Kabuto. Well, new scans shown reveal that they may not be the actual Metal Heroes after all…but the Gokaigers transformed into them using the Metal Hero Ranger Keys!

Does this mean we may get another Movie Ranger Key release like the OOO Key Set during the run of Super Hero Taisen last year? Only time will tell!

Super Hero Taisen Z: Space Sheriff Mecha Combine!

Posted on March 29, 2013 at 11:12 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, Super Sentai

A new set of magazine scans made the rounds a few days back featuring the Combination of Kyoryuzin & Wizardragon in Super hero Taisen Z. Today an additional scan from the same magazine has revealed another new one off special combo, this time featuring the mecha of Space Sheriff’s Gavan, Sharivan, and Shaider!

Revealed today this combination utilizes Sharivans’ robot Grandbirth, holding Shaiders’ Vavilos robot in gun mode, while Gavans’ Dol Dragon rides on top of it breathing fire! This special final combo of the 3 most iconic Metal Heroes mecha will execute the Big Grand Fire attack presumably in the finale of the film in space while the the Kyoryugers and Wizard exectue the Brave Strike End back on Earth.
