“We need Megazord power, NOW!”

SDCC had some powerful exclusives for Power Rangers collector’s this year. Exclusives that are now making the rounds at a number of North American conventions such as Fan Expo Canada and New York Comic Con. Today, we’re taking a look at by far the most spectacular of these exclusives with the SOC Soul of Chogokin GX-72B Black Megazord! 

The Black Megazord/Daizyujin is an elaborate repaint of the original SOC release, primarily in black, with a plethora of gorgeous gold trim, green accents, and silver chrome. This color scheme is directly inspired by and meant to compliment the Soul of Chogokin Dragonzord/Dragon Caesar, which is a bit of a different take on the black repaint tradition than we usually get for MMPR or Zyuranger. Each of the Zords functions identically to the first release, but they look so spectacular in these new colors. We’ve included a number of comparison shots with the first release, with some fun mix & match possibilities as well.

The biggest and most exciting news prior to this year’s Power Morphicon was the Kickstarter launch for the Renegade Games project Power Rangers Heroes of the Grid. Renegade Games was in full attendance at Power Morphicon pulling in quite a large crowd to demo the game first hand and to check out all the proposed and upcoming game pieces thanks to continued support of the Kickstarter.

We reported on this game a bit earlier in the month, but as of today the Power Rangers Heroes of the Grid tabletop game Kickstarter is officially live! And that’s not all either. Having been active for less than 24 hours, the Kickstarter campaign has already raised $70,000+ of it’s $100,000 goal! 

That is an amazing achievement for this project. Fans clearly known what they want and are ready to help fund it. Pledges can be made in 4 tiers, $75, $150, $240, and $300. We’ve included images of all the features and currently announced expansions for the game as well, to tide you over as this campaign clearly move towards it’s full funding goal. With nearly 4 weeks left to go for funding, there’s now way this excellent project won’t meet it’s goal.

Fans of the Legacy Power Rangers toys are well aware of the massive restock coming this winter to online retailers of all the older Legacy roleplay items and Megazords. Today, GameStop has added even more upcoming items to their systems for older Legacy Power Rangers figures including the yet-to-be-released Legacy Psycho Black and Legacy Dino Thunder Yellow figures.

You’re looking at a restock of all seven Mighty Morphin Power Rangers figures, all five Metallic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers figures, all five Dino Thunder figures, and all five In Space figures.

There is currently no ETA on when these will be released but our assumption is sometime this winter if not very early in 2019. It is important to note that just because these items are listed in the system does NOT mean that they will be releasing, only that the manufacturer has solicited the items to retailers in preparation to begin taking orders for fulfillment.

With no listing for Psycho Pink or Psycho Yellow, the fears that those figures never made it past the early prototype stage before Bandai America pulled the plug are beginning to rise. Our fingers are crossed that they show up eventually, sometime, in someone’s system. But with the clock ticking until Hasbro’s official release date of product, the chances are growing slimmer.

Kyle Higgins, writer of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has assembled an all-star cast of Power Rangers alumni to take part in a live-reading of key comic book scenes from the entirety of the Shattered Grid story! The panel includes:

In either an attempt to cash-in at the end of their master toy license deal or cleaning out magical mythological warehouses, Bandai America has listed through EntertainmentEarth.com a massive influx of older Legacy Power Rangers items with a December 2018 release date. This will be your last chance to own these classic and someday vintage items before Hasbro begins full production of product for the Power Rangers brand. Check out the listings below.

Via Comicbook.com We have our first look at the main cover and two variants for the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #30 from Boom! Studios.

In this exclusive preview we get our first look at the main cover by Jamal Campbell, featuring a number of helmets from felled rangers surrounding Lord Drakkon’s throne. The Jordan Gibson variant gives us the traditional MMPR border used on a number of variants through out the series but features Andros the In Space Red Ranger as it’s main focus. Given the In Space rangers part in the Shattered Grid Annual, this could signal a larger role for them all to play. And the final gorgeous cover is by Carlos Villa, who treats us to an incredible “Forever Black” team-up of Black Rangers spanning franchise history.

Power Rangers #30 is a ways off from release, due out some time in August, but for now we can continue to drool over these lovely covers. Thanks to Comicbook.com for their exclusive preview.

Shout! Factory is set to re-release the entirety of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ 3 season run on a DVD Steelbook in honor of the series 25th anniversary. However, the big surprise and draw of this re-release is that it will also included Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie on Blu-Ray for the first time ever! Fans have eagerly waited for Shout! to have the rights to release the original film and in Blu-Ray form, so this should be welcome news to many.

This massive 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray set will retail for $199.99, available August 7th 2018! Here’s hoping that at some point MMPR The Movie can be released individually as well. Purchasing the set from Shout! Factory’s website will also score you an exclusive 18X24″ lithograph by Paul Shipper. Pre order the set HERE.

This year, Kyle Higgins, Ryan Parrott and BOOM! Studios are releasing a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic which ties in directly with the Shattered Grid event! We got our hands on a copy early and we’re proud to share with you a SPOILER FREE review!
