New Robot Detective manga to start in September

Posted on August 14, 2015 at 12:49 pm by ZeoRangerV under General Tokusatsu News

Bessatu Shonen Champion magazine has revealed it will begin publishing a new manga series based on Shotaro Ishinomori’s Robot Detective series from September 12th. What makes this more exciting is that it will be helmed by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimaguchi – the writer/artist duo also behind the popular ongoing Ultraman manga series.

The Robot Detective manga had been previously announced at the beginning of 2014, alongside this promotional video from Toei.

The original television series ran in 1973 for a total of 26 episodes and starred the sharply dressed titular Robot Detective “K”. We’ll bring you more news on the new manga adaptation as it comes!

Premium Bandai DX Gashadokuro Yo Shuriken Revealed

Posted on August 12, 2015 at 11:37 pm by Kiryu under Super Sentai

Pairing perfectly with the DX Yokai Hammer, Premium Bandai just opened up pre orders for the DX Gashadokuro Yo Shuriken.

This Shuriken is of course the one that Kyuemon uses in the show to summon giant Yokai as such, the Shuriken will share functionality with the DX Yokai Hammer itself. Interestingly, the photos indicate that it can be used with the DX Ichibantou as well.

The DX Gashadokuro Yo Shuriken will be released in December 2015 with a relatively affordable  price tag of just 2,700 yen before shipping and other fees from your preferred middleman.

Super Sentai Artisan Chouzetsu Akaninger Officially Revealed

Posted on August 11, 2015 at 10:14 am by Den-O under Super Sentai

A few months ago when Artisan Rodeomaru went up for order via Premium Bandai, we were also given a tease of an Artisan release for Chouzetsu Akaninger. Not only do we now know this figure is a pack-in bonus with Artisan Rodeomaru, but we also have official images!

Artisan Chouzetsu Akaninger stands 65mm tall (about 2.5 inches) compared to Rodeo & Shinobimarus’ roughly 125 mm. So he’s quite tiny. But this fully articulated mini-figure serves as a high end replacement for your DX Akaninger included with Lion Ha Oh. The figure includes just 3 accessories as well. The Ninja Ichibantou, and what appear to be a couple of panels that currently serve an unknown purpose. Perhaps they facilitate his combination with Lion Ha Oh? We’ll keep you updated as more information on this diminutive new figure comes out!

The set of Rodeomaru & Chouzetsu Akaninger retails for 5994 yen and is currently set for a December release!

Spoiler – Power Rangers Dino Charge Gold Ranger Identity Revealed

Posted on August 10, 2015 at 5:05 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

As you may or may not be aware, new episodes of Power Rangers Dino Charge are currently airing in Latin America, meaning by the time new episodes begin airing here in the United States, Latin America will be three episodes ahead of us. Unfortunately, that means they will have some big reveals before they are seen here in the United States, and that means that social media will destroy your hopes of NOT knowing about it (if that is your goal).

So we here at TokuNation.com are doing our best NOT to spoil it for you – but we are also a news organization that makes a living on reporting news, and casting information is a pretty big deal in this fan community. So we’re going to go ahead and post the identity of the actor who is playing the Dino Charge Gold Ranger, but not in the story brief – you’ll have to click “READ MORE” to get the full reveal. Keep in mind – clicking the title of this story will take you to the spoilers.

So to find out who is playing Ivan the Power Rangers Dino Charge Gold Ranger, simply click “READ MORE”. When you’ve done that, click here to discuss the revelation of the actor playing the Gold Ranger.

TokuNation.com Interviews Chip Lynn – Executive Producer of Power Rangers Dino Charge

Posted on August 8, 2015 at 12:00 pm by Chris under Conventions, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

Back at this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2015, we were invited by Saban Brands to come meet the cast of Power Rangers Dino Charge and interview the executive producer of the series, Chip Lynn. Jumping at the first available opportunity to do so, we booked our interview appointment and sat in anticipation until it was time. And we did our absolute best not to disappoint you with “easy questions”, instead going right after the hard ones!

That was new footage of Zeltrax in the Dino Super Charge trailer. We point it out to Chip. He reacts. We also ask him about the Talon Ranger. He won’t give us an answer, but he does give us a clue. But does that mean we’ll be seeing him in the show? Listen on and find out!

As always, you can choose to directly download the .MP3 of the interview. It’s only about 11 to 12 minutes in length. We do apologize for the audio quality – throw 25 people in to a room with an incredibly loud cast (they’re awesome!) and you’ll have an audio-editing nightmare on your hands.

We’d like to thank Chip Lynn for being such a great interview guest, as well as Saban Brands and all of their crew for always being so courteous, professional, and just an overall joy to work with. The franchise is in very, very good hands right now. This interview only cemented that thought.

For reactions and to read the transcript of the interview, simply click here for the transcript. Thanks for listening! Please leave your feedback in the thread.

Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan – S.H. Figuarts Vul Shark & Vul Panther Gallery!

Posted on August 8, 2015 at 1:17 am by Den-O under Super Sentai

Follow the sun! Catch the sun!

TokuNation returns at long last with a new S.H. Figuarts Super Sentai gallery! Though releases are few and far between in recent years those that have come out have been fantastic figures to review. Today is no different as we’re taking a look at the recent Tamashii Web Exclusive 2-pack of S.H. Figuarts Vul Shark & Vul Panther from Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan!

When we reviewed Vul Eagle way back in December I had nothing but praise to heap upon that figure, and now I get to do the same thing, twice! S.H. Figuarts Vul Shark & Vul Panther retain all of the excellent qualities that made Vul Eagle perfect. Top notch sculpt and paint work on top of an almost perfection accessory selection make it pretty hard to not like these figures. And in a rare occurence this release officially completes the Sun Vulcan team! Granted they only had 3 (technically 4) members but it’s a rarity these days. If you haven’t picked up Vul Shark & Vul Panther yet I highly suggest it, this 2-pack will bring just a little bit more of that old school Showa class to your collection.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but feel free to peruse 70 images of S.H. Figuarts Vul Shark & Vul Panther as well as an in depth review. Simply click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. The quick version though? Buy theses figures. And here’s to hoping that one day the Sun Vulcan villains of Black Magma may get the same excellent treatment that these heroes of the sun did. Eagle, Shark, Panther!
