S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zangetsu Gallery and Review

Posted on August 16, 2014 at 10:00 am by Chris under Kamen Rider

Melon!

The third release of the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gaim line from Tamashii Nations is none other than the original melon warrior – Kamen Rider Zangetsu! A general release item, this figure retailed between 4,000 and 5,000 yen depending on where you ordered it from and at the time of this gallery and review is still readily available online as well as your favorite import shops (though prices will vary).

Kamen Rider Zangetsu, for those who do not follow the show Kamen Rider Gaim (you NEED to go watch it RIGHT NOW), is the prototype suit for Takatora, one of the heads of the Yggdrasill corporation. It is the first Armored Right suit to be made and was the test suit for all the others. The suit was only used in the show for the first 12 episodes or so of Kamen Rider Gaim before Takatora took up the Energy Rider suit known as Kamen Rider Zangetsu Shin (which has it’s S.H. Figuart release later this month!). The suit does appear again in the latter part of the 30’s in the show, but you’ll have to watch it for yourself as we do not believe in spoiling major story elements in our reviews!

Check out 55 images by clicking ”Discuss on TokuNation forums!” as well as to read the full review! You can also click “Read More” to simply read the rest of the review and check out the highlight images of the gallery.

Introducing Marcelo Matere – Dragonzord vs Megazord Commission

Posted on August 14, 2014 at 12:43 am by Chris under Conventions, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

If you’re a fan of Transformers then I don’t need to introduce you to Marcelo Matere because chances are you’ve already seen his work or you’ve met him personally at the various Transformers conventions. But if you’re not familiar with him or his work, please allow us the pleasure of introducing you!

Marcelo Matere has been a Transformers artist for over a decade now and has been working on official Hasbro products for years. Chances are you probably own a product that has his artwork as the packaging art. I personally have known Marcelo for many, many years now and consider him a dear friend. And I know just how amazing of an artist he is when it comes to drawing robots. So when I learned that he was going to be attending San Diego Comic Con 2014 I decided to see if he would do a commission work for me – I wanted to see how amazing he could make the Dragonzord and the original Megazord look as they engage each other in battle.

I was blown away as was everyone else I showed the artwork to – including Bandai of America. Even without the use of colors and just markers he managed to capture exactly what I wanted – an epic piece of artwork depicting everyone’s two favorite zords battling it out. Check out the image by clicking the news story.

Be sure to follow Marcelo Matere and let him know how much you love his work! I think everyone in Ranger Nation will agree – this guy needs to be doing professional work for Power Rangers!

– Follow Marcelo @marcelomatere on Twitter!
– Be sure to “Like” his work at Facebook.com/MarceloMatereArt
– Visit his professional website at www.marcelomatere.com
– Check out his Deviant Art profile at MarceloMatere.DeviantArt.com

A huge special thanks to our good friend Marcelo Matere who we got to spend some time with (but not nearly enough time) at this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2014. Please be sure to give this guy tons of love!

ACPB02 Arms Change Kamen Rider Bravo Gallery

Posted on August 13, 2014 at 11:05 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Bonjour!

Bandai is back at it again with the second release in their Premium Arms Change line! ACPB02 is none other than Kamen Rider Bravo! And today we’re here to take an in depth look at Mister Dangerous himself, in more ways than one.

As always seems to be the case with Arms Change figures Bravo is yet another home run. More than a simple repaint/remold Bravo features extensive retooling of the Baron/Gridon/Duke base body. But more importantly he comes with his brand new Durian Arms and his signature weapons the Duri Nokos! If you thought Bujin Gaim was a premium release then allow Bravo to redefine what Premium really means for Arms Change. This figure is beautifully painted and detailed, despite being from what was originally just a mass retail gimmick line. This militant pastry chef mercenary nutjob will sit proudly on a shelf with the rest of your Arms Change collection and look incredibly good while doing it.

After the jump we’ve assembled a full 80 image gallery of this wonderful figure including more than a few fun ones. Also included is as many Arms Changes as  you can make with EVERY figure in the line right now thanks to Bravo! But before you check out our selection of images by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” be sure to look bellow for another wonderful video review by the one and only Baltmatrix! We’ll be trying to coordinate in the future to bring you more of these timed gallery & video pairings as well!

Power Rangers Legacy Lord Zedd Gallery

Posted on August 11, 2014 at 12:05 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers

One of the most memorable and for a time most frightening villains the Power Rangers have ever faced, Lord Zedd has always been a fan favorite. Over the years Zedd has had a mere handful of action figures produced in his likeness, but it looks like things are changing for the former Emperor of Evil. Released just recently as a Toy ‘R’ Us Exclusive is the Power Rangers Legacy Lord Zedd figure!

This figure was also sold as a “shared exclusive” via the Entertainment Earth booth at San Diego Comic-Con, which is where the figure used for this gallery was purchased. Legazy Lord Zedd is one of 8 Legacy figures currently making the rounds to Toys ‘R’ Us across the US and Canada, however he is the only villain in the line so far. Packaged in a deliciously vintage style Might Morphin’ Power Rangers box, and equipped with his mighty staff, Lord Zedd is ready to menace your 5″ ranger figure collection!

Before you hit the jump to check out our photo gallery, why not check out a video review of this figure by our awesome buddy baltmatrix!

Click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to catch the full 40 image gallery & review of Power Rangers Legacy Lord Zedd!

ACPB01 Arms Change Bujin Gaim Gallery

Posted on August 7, 2014 at 2:20 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Blood Orange Arms!

Despite the end of the retail AC line, TokuNation returns with a brand new Arms Change Gallery! Up today is the first of several figures to be released by Premium Bandai, ACPB01 Kamen Rider Bujin Gaim!

Bujin Gaim is the evil warrior god counterpart of Kamen Rider Gaim from The Fateful Sengoku Movie Battle film. This dark rider bears a resemblance to Gaim but wields the powerful Blood Orange Arms. As a toy Bujin Gaim is a straight up repaint of the figure that started it all, AC01 Kamen Rider Gaim. But seeing as this is a Premium Bandai release, it’s been given the premium paint treatment! Cast in a gorgeous red the striking Blood Orange Arms are decorated with the devilish black lines that truly set Bujin Gaim apart from his good counterpart. With his own Daidaimaru & Musou Saber in hand, this figure is ready to compliment any Arms Change collection!

If you’d like to see over 60 images of this wonderful figure, including every possible Arms Change you can make with him, then be sure to click “Discuss on  the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post!

And be sure to stop back by next  Wednesday, 8/13 as Baltmatrix and myself team-up once again to bring you a simultaneous Photo Gallery & Video review of Mister Dangerous himself, Kamen Rider Bravo!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Black RX & Acrobatter Renewal Gallery

Posted on August 4, 2014 at 3:39 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Picking up where our last gallery left off we bring you the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Black RX & Acrobatter Renewal Gallery!

Much like the previously released Black & Battle Hopper Renewals this pair seeks to improve on the design flaws of the originals. In this case they do an even better job! Black RX Renewal realizes the actual suits designs in toy form in a way never done before with the same real suit design details that Black had. Though the figure may have a couple of minor design flaws it’s undeniable that it’s an improvement on the original Black RX. In the accessories alone this version blows the the previous release out of the water, with 5 pairs of hands, two types of Revolcanes, and an alternate Sunriser, you can create nearly any of Black RX’s iconic scenes and poses with ease! Acrobatter Renewal is one in name only for the most part but it’s still an excellent companion to Black RX himself.

For fans of Saban Brands shows from the 90’s you can definitely consider these the perfect versions of Masked Rider & Combat Chopper too!  And if you’re wondering if you can recreate the iconic team-up scenes from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers crossover A Friend In Need, then scroll through our pictures to find out! We have over 70 images of this pair of wonderful figures for you to check out! Simply click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of the post to see them all!

Armored Might Super Mega Silver Ranger Gallery

Posted on August 1, 2014 at 2:24 am by Den-O under Power Rangers

It’s time for another super mega gallery here at TokuNation! We’re back post-SDCC with a legendary gallery of the Armored Might Super Mega Silver Ranger!

This recently released figure is a part of the Power Rangers Super Megaforce fall assortments but it’s been trickling into retail for the last couple of months now. Being that it’s in the fall assortments we haven’t actually seen the Silver Ranger, Orion, use his powered up “gold mode” on the show yet. But that’s of course the main gimmick of this toy. As with all Armored Might figures, Silver Ranger includes a set of removable armor components that are compatible with the rest of the figures in the line, as well as a few trademark accessories of his own.

Why not check out our 80 image gallery and full review of this fun new figure after the jump? Or perhaps before that you can take a look at our good friend baltmatrix’s video review of the figure below!

Shout Factory Officially Announces Zyuranger DVD’s!

Posted on July 25, 2014 at 11:14 pm by Den-O under Conventions, San Diego Comic Con, Super Sentai

Straight from the just concluded Shout Factory SDCC panel we have a huge official announcement from the company. A complete series release of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, fully subbed, is happening!

That’s right folks, the show from which Mighty Morphin Power Rangers drew it’s source material will be released on a complete series DVD set with full subtitles! And chances are that with Shout Factory’s history of including incredible extras, this set will have some great surprises! When asked about the release itself Shout Factory’s Brian Ward confirmed that this was Saban Brands idea. So this came directly from them, as in Saban approached Shout Factory about putting this release together.

While at the panel we also asked about the black sheep of the Saban Tokusatsu family, Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. This often forgotten but excellent series is a personal favorite of mine and I was curious as to whether it could ever see a release. Brian Ward put it this way, there are legal rights issues to releasing certain series such as Mystic Knights and he went on to specifically mention that Masked Rider falls into that same category. The rights for shows like this don’t necessarily sit in Saban Brands hands, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t happen.
